SUPPLEMENTARY

Roma Turf Club- 9th December 2023- Race 5- THE MACCA’S RUN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1640M

Acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii) Stewards Reprimanded Appr Jky Z Sprie the rider of MOORABINDA MICK for his use of the whip in an excessive manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.


GENERAL

After consultation with the Club, Stewards amended the starting time for Races 4- 2.35pm, 5- 3.20pm and 6 – 3.45pm due to an approaching weather event.

Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting-
Race 1 and Race 5- Jky M McDonald to ride +.5kg.
Race 2- Jky R Payne to ride +.5kg.

Race 1: BMO BUSINESS CENTRE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1030M


BEST SIDE- Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped with BLINDSIDE shortly after the start.

BUSH- Began awkwardly.

SINNAMON TOAST- When approaching the 700m rolled out bumping BLOODBLISTER and then again prior to the home turn shifted out marginally when not fully clear when trying to avoid heels of BEST SIDE and became unbalanced. As a result, BLOODBLISTER was forced out wide and became unbalanced with the rider having to take hold at that point. Stewards acting under the provision of AR131(a) Reprimanded Jky Bulter for careless riding. Raced wide in the home straight.

BLINDSIDE- Slow to begin, bumped with BEST SIDE shortly after the start.

LAYLAH’S WISH- Slow to begin.

BLOODBLISTER- Began awkwardly with its head in the air. When approaching the 700m was bumped by SINNAMON TOAST and then prior to entering the home turn was forced wide when BLOODBLISTER shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

BOLD ADMIRAL- Began awkwardly by throwing its head in the air and then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.

RACE 2: PARKER SIMMONDS SOLICITORS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1030M

CURIC- Began awkwardly with its head in the air and bumped CRAIGLEA LAKI to the inside. Then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.

SEDUCTIVE SPUR- Ran on strongly over the final stages. On returning to the mounting yard the mare was found to have a small wound on the left hind leg. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with the wound on the medial aspect of the left hind coronet likely to have occurred in running. The wound was found to be minor with no further treatment nor a Veterinary certificate required.

DEE JAY CEE- Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Laid out when under pressure in the home straight.

POLYGAL- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

CRAIGLEA- LAKI- Bumped by another runner after the start.

EMIRATE PRIDE- Slow to begin.

Race 3: CHINCHILLA RSL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200M

LEGEND OF ZORRO- Began awkwardly. Acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii) issued a fine to Appr Jky T Noble the sum of $300 for her use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.

EMILEE’S EMPIRE- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Appr Jky J Baker was cautioned by Stewards in that he is to ensure he rides his mount out fully to the line in the future. In determining a course of action regarding the matter Stewards acknowledge his lack of experience in race riding

BONNIE EV- Fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly with its head in the air. Raced at the rear of the field until approximately the 500m point then began to improve into the race finishing off strongly over the concluding stages.

PONTOON PETE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 4: RIE GROUP CHINCHILLA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1400M)

DANE ICHI- Began awkwardly and bumped HOPETOUN SUNRISE shortly after the start.

NOTQUITELIKEJAKE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

RODEO LEGEND- Slow to begin.

HOPETOUN SUNRISE- Bumped by DANE ICHI shortly after the start.

RED HOT LOVE- On returning to scale Appr Jky T Noble reported to Stewards that she dropped the whip at approximately the 200m point resulting in her not being able to fully test her mount over the concluding stages. Stewards noted her comments.

ROSE ALICE- Began awkwardly at the start. Appr Jky A Donald advised Stewards that her mount was not suited by the racing surface at today’s meeting. Stewards noted her comments.

PSYCHIC ROSE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 5: WDC CHINCHILLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1400M)

TINTINWIN- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Ran on well over the final stages of the event.

HANDOVER SQUARE- After being handy throughout the event, began to weaken badly in the home straight. Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination to be undertaken. This examination failed to locate any abnormalities.

VILLADEN- Acting under the provision of AR131(c) Stewards issued a fine of $100 to Appr Jky T Noble for a Celebratory Gesture prior to the winning post. Stewards then acting under the provision of AR132(5) Reprimanded Ms Noble for her excessive use of the whip on 15 occasions during the event.

JAKKALBERRY FINN- Began awkwardly and then bumped with DREAMSEEKER after the start was affected. On returning to scale Appr Jky L Barr advised Stewards that her mount hung out for the majority of the event. Stewards noted her comments.

FITZROY BOY- Began awkwardly.

BARRYMORE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

DREAMSEEKER- Bumped with JAKKALBERRY FINN shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: DALBY RACING RATINGS BAND 0- 55 HANDICAP 1400M

GOOGAZ- Began awkwardly and bumped AWAIT THE STORM shortly after the start.

LONERGY- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ZEITAKUNA- Approaching the 100m was forced up on heels of CRAIGLEA ETNA as a result of BIE’RES rolling in marginally. During the running of the event ZEITAKUNA was found to have the pre-race earmuffs still on. As a result, Stewards delayed the declaration in correct weight to hear a submission from Trainer Ms C Baker and Jky R Payne. After inquiring into the incident acting under the provision of AR204 (b) Stewards declared ZEITAKUNA a non-runner with all monies invested on that runner to be refunded in full less the following deductions being applied- Winner- AWAIT THE STORM- 0c in the dollar- win, 4c in the dollar- place, 2nd placed horse GOOGAZ- 5c in the dollar-place and the 3rd placed horse GOOD LIFE DIVA- 5c in the dollar. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. Starter Mr I Henderson advised Stewards the incident was regrettable and gave an undertaking such an error would not occur in the future.

LIP SIP SUK- Began awkwardly jumping inward and tightening the runner to the inside. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

AWAIT THE STORM- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.

BIE’RES- Rolled out marginally when under pressure in the home straight resulting in ZEITAKUNA being forced up on heels of CRAIGLEA ETNA.

GOOD LIFE DIVA- After leading for the majority of the event weakening badly in the home straight, Stewards ordered that a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken. This examination failed to locate any significant findings.

PATRICK’S ME MATE- Began awkwardly then was tightened for room at the start when REDVEDEV jumped out and LIP SIP SUK jumped in shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

REDVEDEV- Began awkwardly when jumping out shortly after the start tightening PATRICK’S ME MATE.
