Race 1:THANK YOU CHINCHILLA RACE CLUB VOLUNTEERS MAIDEN PLATE   1200m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of SHINTARO LASS to view footage of the home straight to determine whether ground for any objection were present. After viewing the footage neither Trainer S Kirkwood of Jockey M Savva elected to proceed with any objection and correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judges numbers.

AMBITIOUS FELLA- Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly near the 900m.

CASINO CAT- Laid in under pressure down the running.

HELL APPROACHING- Began awkwardly and lost ground.

SHINTARO LASS- Raced wide for the majority. Shifted in and away from another runner over the final 100m, momentarily hampered passing the winning post and was unable to be fully tested over the final stages.

ZIMBARA (NZ)- Shifted in passing the 1000m when not fully clear of ELECTRIC HASHMAL. Jockey L Tilley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. In considering the matter Stewards noted ELECTRIC HASHMAL commenced to over-race when steadied by its rider when being crossed by ZIMBARA and subsequently exacerbated the interference somewhat.

ELECTRIC HASHMAL- Obliged to steady from heels near the 1000m and commenced to over-race for a short distance thereafter.

GAELIC THUNDER- Slow into stride.

PLAYED AN ACE- Became fractious in the mounting yard, dislodging App A Graham, rearing over and making heavy contact with the perimeter fence. The mare was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12:55pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 12:55pm:

1cent in the dollar for the win
2cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
2cents in the dollar for 2nd place
2cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Trainer T Churchill was advised that the mare would be required to barrier trial under race-day conditions and to provide a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

App A Graham was examined by QAS officers, with consideration to the QRIC concussion protocol, and deemed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements.

Trainer K Sims advised the stable were disappointed with the performance having supported the gelding modestly and had expected a strong showing leading into the event. Jockey N Tomizawa advised that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have handled the firmer going but was none the less disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

App S Zoljan was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish of the race. In considering the matter Stewards noted the racing manners of the gelding along with App Zoljans inexperience in terms of race riding as well as determining App Zoljans lack of vigour over the concluding stages had not had a tangible effect on the geldings finishing position.

SENSATIONAL REWARD- When queried regarding the performance App D Bennett advised that, in his opinion, the heavy weight impost being first up from a spell was a telling factor. Stable foreman K Zahmel concurred adding that, advised that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have been suited by the firmer track conditions.
