SUPPLEMETARY REPORTS
Stewards consulted with senior riders and Race Club officials at 12:30pm and the decision was made to delay the start of the race meeting by 40 minutes to allow for the track to be harrowed and provide an even drying surface. RACE 1 was put back to commence at 2:00pm all other races were to commence at 40 minute intervals.
Stewards accepted the explanation of trainers Olivia Cairns and John Manzelmann for the late declaration of a rider for their horses.
Race 1: LUND GRAIN & STOCKFEED QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 METRES
TAFFALINA was declared a late scratching at 1.58pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered all monies invested on TAFFALINA to be refunded and that the following deductions were to occur, 10c on all win bets on SASSY DRAGON and 13c on all place bets on SASSY DRAGON, CRIMSON KIMODO and DORA’S MAGIC.
CRIMSON KIMODO – Began awkwardly.
RANGA ROCKET - Slow into stride and failed to show any speed throughout.
DORA’S MAGIC – Steadied at the 900 metres when crossed by another runner, raced wide for the remainder.
Race 2: CFMEU Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000 METRES
CIDAROS – Slow into stride and failed to show any speed throughout.
DELAGOS - Slow into stride and failed to show any speed throughout.
FOREST MAGIC – Raced wide throughoutwithout cover.
ENEMY OF MAN Held up for a short distance in the home straight.
Race 3: CLERMONT CARRYING Benchmark 45 Handicap 1200 METRES
WONDEFUL WALLY - Slow to begin.
DRAGON ROCKET - Slow to begin and failed to show any early pace.
MOZZINATOR - Raced wide throughout without cover and bumped by another runner at the 1000 metres.
GENTLY GUIDED -Raced wide throughoutwithout cover. Shifted in sharply of its own accord near the 1000 metres and bumped another runner. Ducked in sharply and had to be steadied at the 200 metres. Prior to correct weight being declared the rider of CAPE LUCK jockey David Sparks exercised his right to view the photo finish in regards to being placed 4th. After viewing the photo jockey Sparks was satisfied with judges placing and correct weight was declared.
Race 4: ISAAC REGIONAL COUNCIL Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200 METRES
CAMPANOLOGY - Slow to begin, raced wide without cover.
BETTER CAUL SAUL - Slow to begin, raced wide throughout.
GOLD RUST - Raced wide throughoutwithout cover.
ESPRIT LIGHT – Rider found guilty of failing to ride his mount to the end of the race. Stewards were of the opinion this had cost his mount second placing. After consideration of all relevant circumstances, a fine of $500 was imposed. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not detect any abnormalities.
Race 5: CLERMONT VETERINARY SURGERY 40TH ANNIVERSARY Benchmark 60 Handicap 2300 METRES
COOL DAYS – Began slowly.
GO AS YOU PLEASE – Raced wide throughout without cover.
