Lewis Race 1: MADDEN INVESTMENTS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES) FLAMING ASTEROID – lay inwards down the home straight. MYZAH – raced wide throughout. MAYHEM GIRL – jumped out at the start and shortly after commenced to buck for some distance and failed to take the first corner. Trainer Glenda Bell was advised MAYHEM GIRL was stood down from racing until it passes a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. HUSKI ROSE – very slow to begin, rider reported failed to handle the kick back throughout the race and that HUSKI ROSE got its tongue over the bit during the race. ROY’S GIRL – began awkwardly. Race 2: PURDIES TYRES BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1000 METRES) STILL FEELING IT – began awkwardly JACK O DIAMONDS – raced wide throughout LE BERNADIN– bumped JUST SIZZLING at the start and as a result was slow into stride. ARROGANT HEART – raced wide for the majority. CHATILLY – raced wide throughout ELECTRIC SPIRIT – slow into stride and lay in up the home straight. STERNY BEAR– raced wide throughout. JUST SIZZLING – bumped with LE BERNADIN at the start. Race 3: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS QTIS Class 1 Handicap (1400 METRES) LENNY ROCKET – began awkwardly and raced wide throughout. MISHANI PATRIOT – raced wide for the majority. WHISKEY ROW – raced wide throughout. HEROIC ANGEL – slow into stride. Race 4: CLERMONT CONCRETE OPEN Handicap (1400 METRES) HEMMERLE – raced wide throughout. ANCIENT ECHOES – Apprentice Tyler Leslight pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted. apprentice Leslight’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days from midnight 13th May 2023 until midnight 23rd May 2023. When determining an appropriate penalty stewards were mindful that this was the twelfth offence of six or more by apprentice Leslight in the last 6 months under this rule. DAWSON DIAMOND – jumped out at the start. Race 5: COMMERCIAL HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1200 METRES) ROCKY POET – stewards adjourned an inquiry into the riding of jockey Scott Sheargold over the last 100 metres. Jockey Scott Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of LR48 for failing to seek the permission of Stewards to leave the racecourse. Jockey Sheargold was fined the sum of $200.00 IF YOU SAY SO – raced wide throughout. WREN PLUCKED – began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.
