GENERAL:

Due to the predicted weather forecast for today’s meeting this meeting was conducted under the provisions of Racing Queensland’s Heat Policy level 1 Protocols. The temperature was monitored throughout the day and recorded prior to each race.
 
Race 1: BRODIE & CO Ratings Band 0-45 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – LORD NICK           2nd – RAGE WITHIN      3rd – SNITZEL ROSE    4th – RUBIDUS
 
LUNAR LUCK – Was a late scratching by order of Stewards at 12.45pm when the bonafides of the ownership could not be confirmed. 
 
FAST TRACK MAGIC – Jockey A Spradau was fined $200 under AR120(b) when he was unable to make the allocated weight. Stewards permitted Jockey Spradau to ride the gelding 1/2kg over the horses allotted weight when no other suitable rider was available.
 
RUBIDUS – Dipped shortly after start. Inclined to hang in throughout.
 
YOUR WAY OR MINE - Raced wide rounding home turn. Trainer Mr D Smith was interviewed regarding the horses form since returning from a spell.  Trainer advised he has been disappointed by the three performances and cannot explain loss of form.  Rider advised he is of the opinion that the gelding could derive benefit from racing in blinkers. 
 
Race 2: BELL RURAL CONTRACTING Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – OAKFIELD REBEL            2nd – WILKER   3rd – TRESSLES           4th – CRYSTAL BEAR
 
WHISPER WILLOW – Was a late scratching at 12.45pm.  Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late scratching of the mare.
 
CRYSTAL BEAR – Slow to go. Rider advised the gelding had been restless in the barrier switching it head from side to side and missed the start.
 
EIGHTH KEEPER – Tongue tie refitted at barriers.  Jumped awkwardly with rider’s left foot making heavy contact with barriers. 
 
MISS ROSENBERG – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
Race 3: AR CONTRACTING BenchMark 50 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – SPLASH OUT       2nd – BEST A MAN CAN GET   3rd – DIURNAL TIGER  4th – SHOW US THE WAY
 
MISHANI TRADER and STAGE DANCER were late scratching at 12.45pm when no rider was available. 
 
Jockey T Hill the rider of third placegetter DIURNAL TIGER requested to view the photo of the finish. After having done so he was satisfied and Correct Weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
SHOW US THE WAY – Was slowly away.  Rider interviewed regarding the seemingly disappointing performance and advised he could offer no reason.
 
LOGAN’S RUN – Contacted with running rail at 850 metres. 
 
EUPHORBIA – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
BEST A MAN CAN GET – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
NORTERN STORM- Having first start this area.  Jumped well but travelling towards the 400 metres had tailed off a long last and from that point made ground to be beaten some seven lengths.  Rider advised the gelding had not travelled until the 400 metres despite his hard riding early.  Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
Race 4: LANDMARK CLONCURRY Class 6 Plate 1200 metres:
1st – NITE ROCKER      2nd – WILL’S CHOICE   3rd – HEAD DRAGON    4th – FRISCO JOURNEY
 
Trainer S. Royes was interviewed regarding the scratching of CRAIGLEA SWIFT from this race.  He advised that the mare had raced and won two of the last three weekends and it was his opinion that the mare had not fully recovered and in the interests of the welfare of the mare he decided to scratch her front this race.
 
Trainer P. Miller was interviewed regarding the scratching of WORLD OF PAIN from this race. He advised the gelding has been slow to recover after its first up race three weeks ago but in his opinion was not ready to race today although he had believed earlier in the week it would be. 
 
FRISCO JOURNEY – Taken in at the start by another runner.
 
HEAD DRAGON - Jumped in at the start onto another runner. 
 
NITE ROCKER – Jumped outwards at the start and raced three wide without cover until entering the straight. 
 
Race 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL MOTEL Maiden Plate 1200 metres:
1st – VEGANER 2nd – FAST BRASS       3rd – SMILING MISTRESS         4th – MESSINES ROSE
 
ROCKET ELEMENT – Raced very wide rounding the home turn.
 
SMILING MISTRESS -  Raced wide rounding the home turn.
