Public announcements were made accordingly. Race 1: CLONCURRY TYRES & BATTERIES QTIS BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1000M CALDANE – Fractious during its preliminary. Trainer T. Parry was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings parading manners. CAN’T FORGET – Delayed the start when difficult to load. Trainer D. Ballard was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. On return to scale L. Attard, rider of third placegetter BORN TO FIRE lodged an objection against WORLD OF PAIN (T. Tincknell) being declared second past the post alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing evidence from riders concerned and viewing of the available race footage stewards were of the view WORLD OF PAIN had shifted in slightly and OLLIE RUNS RIOT (S. Galvin) which was racing to the inside of BORN TO FIRE had also shifted out slightly crowding BORN TO FIRE. As Stewards could not attribute sole blame to WORLD OF PAIN and the degree of interference the objection was dismissed and correct weight given on the judge’s numbers. SPARKLING VIXEN – Slow to begin. SMOOTH ELEMENT – Raced wide for the majority of the race. WORLD OF PAIN – Raced wide for the majority of the race. COURT ACTION – Restrained near the 500m when racing in restricted room. Race 2: LEICHHARDT HOTEL CLASS B H’CAP – 1000M MISHANI TRADER – After being initially slow to begin was crowded for room and lost ground. MR ROCKARD – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MARINE ON PARADE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. EIGHTH KEEPER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. THE MONKEY – Slow into stride. Race 3: LOWES PETROLEUM RATINGS 0 – 55 H’CAP – 1200M ROSES NEED RAIN – Was declared a late scratching at 1.15pm on veterinary advice after injuring itself in the race day tie-up stall. CARRY THE GOLD – Fractious in the float on route to the course, examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Slow into stride. TRESSELS – Following the race rider, L. Attard was stood down due to a back injury. L. Attard was advised he must supply a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. LASTING IMAGE – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the race. SPLASH OUT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: CURLEY CATTLE TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M NEXT ELEMENT – As rider L. Attard was indisposed he was replaced by R. Hancock. Fractious during in its preliminary. Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced greenly throughout the event. Trainer G. Tipping was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s pre-race and racing manners. SMILING MISTRESS –Faltered leaving the 400m and was eased out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mare to have ruptured its near fore tendon. Trainer K. Krogh was advised he must supply a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again. Race 5: NIVERAK SMASH REPAIRS BENCHMARK 45 H’CAP – 1400M DIAMOND KAZ – Declared a late scratching at 4.13pm when unable to be loaded. Stable representative Mr J Morris was advised a further barrier certificate must be obtained prior to the mare being permitted to race again. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on DIAMOND KAZ were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 13 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. THE GIRLS IN PARIS – Raced 4 wide with no cover for the majority of the race. MISS ROSENBERG – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
