Race 1: HONEYCOMBES SALES & SERVICE MAIDEN PLATE. 
 
A’RICHBRUNETTE – Reluctant to load into the barriers.
 
LEAPIN’ LENA – Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.

RODEO DESTINY – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
On return to scale Jockey J. Esser the rider of the third place getter MY MIND IS MADE UP advised he wished to lodge a protest against OAKFIELD SUNSET (K. Ballard) being declared the winner.  He advised his grounds for the protest were interference to his mount approaching the 300 metres when OAKFIELD SUNSET shifted inwards when not sufficiently clear causing him to clip heels and lose ground.  After considering the evidence, viewing the film and in particular the margin between the runners at the finish, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey K. Ballard was found Guilty of Careless Riding (AR 137(a)) in that he allowed his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear causing MY MIND IS MADE UP to be eased.  Stewards took into account the extent of the interference and Jockey Ballard’s excellent riding record over many years and he was issued with a reprimand. 
 
Race 2: LEICHHARDT HOTEL MOTEL QTIS CLASS 4 HANDICAP. 1000M
 
TYRANNY – Fractious in barriers. Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.  Trainer T. Austin was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding in respect to its barriers behaviour. 
 
HUNTING – Fractious in barriers kicking out. 
 
SCARLET JANE – Raced wide rounding 800m turn. 
 
AL MAH ROCKET – Raced wide rounding the 800m and home turn. 
 
FINE FERGUS – Slow into stride and raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
KURAMOS - Slow into stride and finished a distant last. Having first start in this area.  Rider advised the gelding did not at any stage handle the track conditions. 
 
 
Race 3: BRODIE & CO BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER OPEN PLATE.  1000 M
 
DAMGOODCHOICE – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
AVOID THE MISSUS – Slow to gather pace after jumping with the field.  Rider on being interviewed advised the mare did not race in her normal manner and in particular from the 800m adding that the mare seemed flat today.  Rider was unable to offer any further information.  A Veterinary Examination   failed to reveal any abnormality. 
 
YOUR WAY OR MINE – Raced wide rounding home turn.  Rider D. Sparks was charged with a breach of AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m, namely eleven occasions, being six more than is  permissible.  Jockey Sparks pleaded Guilty and was fined $200.
 
 
Race 4: CURLEY CATTLE TRANSPORT CLASS 2 PLATE.  1200M.
 
WICKED INVESTMENT – Late scratching 8.20am.  Unable to be loaded onto float for transport to  Cloncurry.
 
ALBERT THE ROCKET - Began awkwardly and hard ridden throughout. 
 
SLITHERING SUSIE – Travelled wide all the way. 
 
SENSEOFWINDER – Fractious in the barriers.  Near the 1100m was tightened for room by another runner and had to be eased. 
 
DROPPER ROCKET – Near the 1100m shifted inwards tightening another runner. Small amount of blood was present in the mouth on return to the enclosure A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its gum. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey D. Sparks pleaded Guilty to a charge of Careless Riding under AR 137(a), in that near the 1100m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear causing SENSEOFWONDER to be eased and lose ground.  Jockey Sparks was reprimanded. 
 
OVER THE VENTURE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.   

 
Race 5: BENLEY’S (QLD) PTY LTD Benchmark 45 HANDICAP.  1400M
 
SPLASH OUT – Trainer S. Gabriel- Royes, was interviewed regarding her failure to declare a rider for the gelding by the appointed time. Stewards accepted her explanation but stressed she must do so in future.  M. Hart was a late riding engagement.  Began awkwardly and raced wide all the way finishing a distant last. 
 
TUNING – Raced wide down the back straight. 
 
EARLY OPENER – Raced wide from the 800m. 
 
ROCK SPARK – Raced wide for majority of the race.   
 
DENLAGO – Raced wide rounding the home turn. 
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared HOT PROSPECT and CEDEE PRINCE to be non-runners under AR 134A, after they were denied a fair start when their respective barrier gates failed to open in unison with the remainder of the field. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on these two runners were to be refunded and all successful bets for the win be paid with a deduction of 29 cents in the dollar on all win and all successful place bets be paid less 26 cents in the dollar on the face value of the tickets.

Summary of action concerning licensees
