Race 2 Open Handicap 1450m. Trainer of SPANISH HURRICANE J Morris, informed Stewards that the gelding which had performed below expectations had displayed signs of soreness in front on the morning following race day. Mr Morris was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start. Race 1: OPEN HANDICAP 1600m CHARLIE CAT – Buffeted between runners soon after the start and raced in restricted room approaching the 1400m. Raced wide rounding 1000m turn. BOLLENTE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to race after having raced at Longreach the previous day. Raced wide in early stages. Race 2: BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400m CAPTAIN’S PICK – Raced wide rounding 1000m turn and home turn. ZENDAYE - Raced wide rounding 1000m turn. ALMIGHTY GOLD (NZ) - Raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 3: BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (2) 1000m SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Slowly away. IMAPOET - Fractious in barriers. Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced wide most of the way. CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD – Raced wide most of the way. BELAR BLUE – Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. Raced wide rounding 800m turn. Inconvenienced near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 4: BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1) 1000m HIDDEN CHIEF – The gelding which raced the previous day at Longreach was a late scratching at 11am on veterinary advice. Trainer R. Hermann advised a veterinary certificate of fitness required prior to next start. AYLA’S ANGEL – Began awkwardly losing considerable ground. NO HAT NO PLAY – Began awkwardly. PARTY GLOW – Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. HUNTING – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced in restricted room near 800m. Raced wide rounding the home turn. TEMERITY – Raced wide in early stages. Race 5: CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m HICKSON - Began awkwardly and bumped by another runner. Raced wide rounding the 800m and home turns. TOP EVIE – Improved onto heels near 800m and was eased. Raced wide rounding home turn. MACKELLAR’S VOICE – Shifted outwards on jumping bumping another runner. Post-race was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Trainer S Royes was advised the mare would incur the mandatory 3 months ban from racing and would be required to gallop 1000m satisfactorily in the presence of a Steward prior to next race start. DURANT – Bumped by another runner on jumping and slow to muster pace. CAITLIN EMILY- Raced wide in the early stages and rounding the home turn. Stewards inquired into an incident soon after the start where BACCHUR (App T Townsend) commenced shifting inwards causing HICKSON (T Hill) to be taken in onto the running of DURANT (T Brummell) which had to be checked. After hearing evidence from all 3 riders and viewing the patrol footage Stewards issued App Townsend a severe reprimand for Careless Riding. AR 131(a). Race 6: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m OUT FOX’EM - Jumped outwards bumping another runner. Post race rider R Hancock advised he had injured his right foot as the result of contact with the running rail during the race. He was treated on course by QAS and was a medical clearance is required prior to resuming race riding. WANCHAI – Bumped by another runner on jumping. GRAY ARTEMIS – Raced wide most of way. CATE RULES - Raced wide most of way. TIME FOR US - Raced wide most of way. SHOW SOME HEART – Raced wide rounding the home turn. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning Licensed Persons Injured riderJockey R Hancock. Injured right foot. Medical clearance required prior to resuming race riding.
