GENERAL
Race 1. BRODIE HARDWARE QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m
POSITIVE TENSION – Fractious in the barrier. Knuckled over on jumping.
FLASH HOMBRE – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. Faltered in its action and fell near the 250m when in clear running, dislodging Jockey M Gray who sustained suspected head and shoulder trauma. Jockey Gray who was attended by QAS Officers and, once stabilised, was transported to Cloncurry Hospital for further assessment and treatment, will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary. The gelding FLASH HOMBRE which was found to have suffered a massive haemorrhage in running, was humanely euthanased.
FORGOTTEN BOW – Bumped with another runner after beginning awkwardly. Restrained off heels when placed in restricted room approaching the home turn.
BUDDHA – Slowly away. Bumped with another runner soon after jumping.
DEEP SEEDED (FR) – Raced wide for the majority. Severely hampered on straightening after being forced wider by another runner which subsequently fell.
LE FORCE – Jockey J Felix reported the gelding, which was having its 1st start on the dirt surface, never travelled comfortably at any stage.
Race 2. WOODHAM PETROLEUM SERVICE MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
OUR YOUNG MAN – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
TOKYO FRIENDS – Slowly into stride.
THE APPOINTED TIME – Jockey J Babarovich was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (1st offence).
Race 3. BULL CREEK BEEF BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m
BLAX was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 2.10pm due to no rider being available to replace the injured M Gray. As betting on the event had not yet commenced, no deductions were applicable.
GIRL ON TOP was withdrawn by order of Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 2.35pm after displaying signs of mild lameness in the off fore leg. Trainer T Parry was advised a Veterinary clearance will be required prior to next race start. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on GIRL ON TOP be refunded in full, and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching be subject to deductions of 8 cents win and 8 cents place on the face value of the betting ticket.
DEVIL’S NUMBER – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Jockey J Hoopert was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m (1st offence).
WORDS UNSPOKEN – Fractious in the barrier. Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
READY MISTER MUSIC – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 4. LORRAINE PASTORAL COMPANY CLASS 4 PLATE 1200m
MACKELLAR’S VOICE – Fractious in the barrier.
CATO – Shifted out abruptly on jumping hampering a runner to its outside. Raced wide for the majority.
NO INUENDO – Slowly into stride after being hampered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
YULE MY HERO – Contested the lead in the early and middle stages before commencing to tire near the 400m.
CHRISTMAS CREEK – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 5. 2022 BATTLE OF THE BUSH CLONCURRY QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
KEDLESTON was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 3.30pm due to no suitable rider being available to replace the injured M Gray. As betting on the event had not yet commenced, no deductions were applicable.
LEVEL EIGHT – Slowly into stride.
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
STAR OF O’REILLY (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages, inconveniencing runners to its inside, despite the efforts of Jockey R McMahon.
WICKED WIKI – Inconvenienced near the 100m by another runner which laid in under pressure.
TEDDY MERCURY – Inconvenienced near the 100m by another runner which laid in under pressure.
Race 6. HACON & SONS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1600m
SIZZLESUN was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 3.30pm due to no rider being available to replace the injured M Gray. As betting on the event had not yet commenced, no deductions were applicable.
HOPE AS ALWAYS – Began awkwardly.
KING LANDON (NZ) – Slowly away. Jockey J Babarovich reported the gelding had never travelled comfortably at any stage. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
FINGERTIPS – Raced wide for the majority.
RED RED ROSE – Raced wide for the majority.
SOLVUS – Raced wide for the majority. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
