Approaching the 400m was disappointed for run between EXPLOSIVE GIRL and HI ZERO and was obliged to ease off the heels of EXPLOSIVE GIRL and shift to the outside of HI ZERO.TURF EDITION – A post-race veterinary examination of TURF EDITION identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. TURF EDITION shall not race without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward. Race 2 : NIVERAK SMASH REPAIRS CLASS 4 Plate (1000m)NOT ANOTHER REIBY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.FUDGINIT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after presenting with blood in its mouth and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Race 3: GREEN’S DIESEL SERVICES MAIDEN Plate (1200m) Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. Baker, rider of second placegetter NANNA BAX, against first past the post BITTERBLUE(NZ) (D. Smith) alleging interference over the final 100m. After taking evidence from riders, respective trainers whom were acting in the interests of their owners and after viewing the patrol footage, BITTERBLUE(NZ) marginally rolled out approaching the winning post as NANNA BAX laid in under pressure in the straight. Stewards when considering the one and three-quarter length margin, alleged interference suffered and proximity to the finishing line, were not satisfied to the requisite standard and dismissed the objection, declaring correct weight on the Judges placings. ORCUS –Bumped with FRANKLIN RIVER on jumping. Rounding the home turn, was contacted by BITTERBLUE(NZ) when racing in restricted room, resulting in the geldings’ hindquarters being turned out and as a result became awkward in its action momentarily.FRANKLIN RIVER –Stewards permitted rider Miss S. Nielson to ride the mare at the allocated weight and reprimanded her for not being able claim her full apprentice allowance (3kg). Bumped with ORCAS on jumping.BITTERBLUE(NZ) – Rounding the home turn, contacted ORCUS, who’s hindquarters were turned resulting in the gelding becoming awkward in its action. D. Smith was reprimanded under AR131(a) and was advised to exercise more care when racing in restricted room. Rolled out approaching the winning post.ROUGH EDGES – As the gelding had not raced for an extended period of time, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.NANNA BAX – Stewards permitted rider Mr J. Baker to ride the mare +3 kg overweight as no other rider was available. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 4 : CLONCURRY TYRES & BATTERIES QTIS BENCHMARK 55Handicap (1200m)WE’LL BEAT IT – Raced wide throughout. CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Awkward to begin. When asked to comment on the performance of TEDDY MERCURY, Trainer D. Ballard advised that the gelding would be going for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. THE BROTHERHOOD – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Race 6: CURLEY CATTLE TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1600m)FLYING EUROS – Stewards permitted rider Ms S. Nielson to ride the gelding 2 kg overweight as no other rider was available. Shifted out jumping away.JANOSIK – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. ALL AT SEA – Raced wide throughout.
