GENERAL

When Jockey L Dillon advised Stewards he was to be overweight, riding replacements were made as per Steward’s Summary. Stewards will inquire into this matter at a later date.

Stewards inquired into Apprentice J. King’s failure to claim to his minimum riding weight of 55kg in Race 1 (SPELLO), Race 4 (MONCHING) & Race 5 (FOREVER MORE). App J King, in the presence of his master Mrs N King, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 92 (12) and in consideration of penalty, Stewards were mindful that this was his 6th charge in a 12 month period and accordingly, his licence to ride in races was suspended from m/n Saturday 28/12/2014 up to and including 9th January, 2014 (2 CQ meetings)

Stewards also inquired into App J King’s use of a vest during the day which had been modified. App J King pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 118C (b) in that in Races 1-4 he had used an approved safety vest which had been modified by removing the foam from its lower section. App King was fined $300.

Race 1: Ironmonger Shipping Class 4 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – SINDIBAD 2nd – WICKENBY 3rd –MAKE A DEAL 4th- SPELLO

At the start, BUILT TOUGH (T. O’Hara) and MAKE A DEAL (J Missen) made heavy contact.

Near the 800 metres, BUILT TOUGH hung out across the heels of SINDIBAD (A. Coome).

BUILT TOUGH and WICKENBY (App K Gates) both hung out around the home turn.

SINDIBAD lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 2: Landmark QTIS Maiden Plate - 1072 metres
1st – REDOUTE’S POWER 2nd –OH GOLLY 3rd – HIDDEN NATURE 4th – LIGHTNING ARTIST

Prior to the declaration of correct weight App K Gates (LIGHTNING ARTIST ) viewed the patrol film to ascertain if grounds existed for an objection to be lodged against REDOUTE’S POWER being declared the winner. After doing so, App Gates lodged an objection of 4th against 1st on the grounds of interference on the home turn and also approaching the winning post. After hearing evidence from the riders and Trainer M Barnham, it was established that both runners had hung out of their own accord and that LIGHTNING ARTIST had not be dictated or interfered with by REDOUTE’S POWER at this point of the race. As a result, LIGHTNING ARTIST raced wide on the track. Over the concluding stages, REDOUTE’S POWER had shifted out marginally and LIGHTNING ARTIST had shifted in significantly and approaching the winning post, continued to shift in behind REDOUTE’S POWER and OH GOLLY. Stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

CENTURY OF WAR (J. Missen) was slow to begin.

CAUSE DIVORCE (T. O’Hara) was tightened shortly after the start between HIDDEN NATURE (A. Coome) and NORTHERN WAR LORD (C Pye) which shifted in slightly.

CAUSE DIVORCE and NORTHERN WAR LORD raced wide throughout.

Race 3: Calliope Central Bowls Club Class B Handicap- 1072 metres
1st – RHINO 2nd –COPY THIS 3rd – SPANNA 4th – ZIONIC

SPANNA (J Babarovich) jumped awkwardly in and made contact with ZIONIC (App J King).

Near the 800 metres, LET THE CHIPS FALL (App R Payne) restrained to allow COPY THIS (A. Coome) to cross and the gelding lay out.

Apprentice J King was fined $100 when he returned to scale one kilogram overweight (AR 145)

Following the race, Jockey Babarovich reported he had bruising to his right shin, however was able to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

Race 4: Conag Equipment Open Handicap- 1072 metres
1st – JEALOUS GUY 2nd – KISS THE GROOM 3rd – TWOGUNDAN 4th – REV THE CHEV

TWOGUNDAN (A. Coome) was slow to begin.

TROPIC GEM (App K Gates) raced wide for the majority of the race.
BAGABOB (S. McCullum) raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Calliope Rural Traders Gold Cup BM 65 Handicap- 1608 metres
1st – RYTARGA 2nd –GREYWIN 3rd – GUILIETTA 4th – VAIN DAZZLER

FEROCITY BLUE (S. McCullum) raced wide early.
FOREVER MORE (App J King) raced wide throughout.

Jockey T O’Hara reported that GUILIETTA had being slow to begin, was urged to go forward and had raced keenly in the lead during the early and middle stages. Jockey O’Hara also stated the mare may not have been suited by the distance.
