Race 1: Ironmonger Shipping Class 3 Plate- 1000 metres
KLAMMER- Made contact with MINTO’S LASS on jumping.
BITTEN- Little slow to begin.
CAN’T FORGET- Difficult to load. Little slow to begin.
BOSSY BEACH- Raced wide throughout.
Jockey D Evans was found guilty to a careless riding charge in that he permitted MUSCOVY to shift in near the 800 metres when insufficiently clear of MINTO’S LASS which was taken in and caused KLAMMER to be taken in and caused VICIOUS CHICK to be tightened and lose its rightful running. Jockey D. Evan’s licence to ride in raced was suspended from m/n 19 January, 2017 up to 29 January, 2017 (10 days).
Race 2: Landmark QTIS Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
GRANDZONE ROCKET- Slow into stride.
RACEY CHICK- Slow into stride.
NEON MAGIC- Raced wide throughout.
ROSE OR BUD- Hung out on the home turn.
LOWER- Suffered heat stress post-race however did not require treatment.
Race 3: Calliope Central Bowls Club Class B Handicap- 1072 metres
THAT PRETTY GIRL- App N Morton was permitted to claim 1kg of her 2kg allowance. Apprentice was fined $100. (AR 92(12)).
JILL’S SHADOW- Explanation for the late declaration of Q. Krogh as the rider was accepted. Shifted wider on the home turn.
WHYMEGOD- Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground to race at rear of the field. Warning would be placed on the gelding.
CHARSON’S GIFT- Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Rayment Excavations Open Handicap - 1072 metres
Stewards viewed the available patrol film to ascertain if any grounds existed for an objection between JAMES IS BLONDE (2nd) and KING COBIA (4th). After doing, it was found that no grounds existed for any objection to be lodged.
BJORN- Stood flat-footed, lost considerable ground. A further barrier certificate will need to be obtained in front of Stewards prior to its next start.
JAMES IS BLONDE- Hung out on the home turn.
KING COBIA- Hung out on the home turn.
AL’S BRIEFS- Raced wide throughout.
ALBERTIQUE- Jockey M O’Brien was reprimanded for use of her whip on 3 more occasions than permitted.
Race 5: Calliope Rural Traders Gold Cup BM 55 Handicap- 1608 metres
Due to a miscommunication, Jockey S Sheargold was dually engaged. Jockey P Romeo was permitted to be the replacement rider for DANDOG.
Prior to declaration of correct weight, Trainer R West and Apprentice N Summers (GO AS YOU PLEASE) viewed the patrol footage and after doing so, lodged an objection against DUDOOMP (winner) for interference inside the final 100 metres. After hearing evidence from all relevant parties, Stewards were of the opinion that DUDOOMP had shifted out and made contact with GO AS YOU PLEASE however this was not significant, given the margin of a neck, and had not effected the placings. The objection was dismissed.
ITTY GITTY- Slow to begin.
MURPHY’S COAL DUST- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout and commenced to yield ground from the 500 metres.
DUDOOMP and GO AS YOU PLEASE bumped near the 200 metres.
