Stewards delayed the declaration of Correct Weight to enable App. E Cass, who rode WILD DIVA, to view patrol footage of the concluding stages of the event in order to determine whether or not she had grounds for an objection against DECLAN STYLE, ridden by App. A Thomson being placed second. After viewing the footage App. Cass elected not to proceed with an objection and Correct Weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers.

Stewards delayed the declaration of Correct Weight in order to consider an application from Jockey K Rockett to have WINDMILL LANE declared a non-starter after Jockey Rockett advised that the outside barrier gate had swung back after opening and made contact with the gelding. After considering submissions from Jockey Rockett and Trainer Mr. R Ludwig and viewing head-on patrol footage of the race start, Stewards, although conceding that the outside barrier gate had made minor contact with the near shoulder of WINDMILL LANE, were of the opinion that the gelding, which was slowly into stride, had not been impeded on jumping and that the incident had not materially prejudiced its chances in running. Consequently Correct Weight was declared on the judges numbers.

Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on WRITTEN INTENT be refunded in full and, further, that all successful wagers placed prior to 5:05pm be subject to deductions of 21cents in the dollar win and 22 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket.
