Race 1: COOKTOWN RSL MEMORIAL CLUB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000

AGLOT – Blundered on jumping.
 
ISHOTTHEDEPUTY – Shifted out at the start bumping ROTHGURL. Rider S. Sheargold reported on returning to scale the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the race.   

ROTHGURL – Bumped on jumping. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race.  

KEEP ON RUNNING – Began awkwardly. Rider M. Butler reported on returning to scale the gelding was not entirely comfortable on the tight turning track.
 
Race 2: COOK SHIRE COUNCIL / POISON CREEK STATION BENCHMARK 55
HANDICAP – 1000 Metres
 
SIMPLY BEANS – Due to no available rider the mare was declared a late scratching at 12.00pm. As betting for this race had not commenced no deductions were applicable.  
 
HYDERABAD – Slow to begin.

OCTOBER STORM – Slow to begin.Jockey G. McDonnell slipped off the side of the horse on returning to scale when it balked, Ms McDonnell advised there was no concerns of any injury.  

RACATOON – Slow to begin.
 
JOINT FORCES – Took charge of its rider leaving the 400 metres jumping the outside running rail near the 200 metres dislodging its rider apprentice L. Guernier. Ms Guernier was quickly attended to by QAS officers and after initial treatment on course was then transported to Cooktown hospital for further observation. JOINT FORCES must compete in three consecutive official trials to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed lameness in the near side hind stifle, and lacerations to legs. Trainer F. Wieland was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding trialling or racing again. Ms Guernier was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.   

Race 3: YARRALINDA PARK / LION'S DEN HOTEL COUNTRY STAMPEDE
QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP – 1000 Metres
 
GOSSIP TORQUE – Began awkwardly causing jockey J. Doolan to strike the right side barrier with her right foot. After being examined by the QAS, Ms Doolan was cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.      
 
TIGER LEGEND – Slow to begin.
 
MY BEST EFFORT – Slow to begin.
 
TEMPO (NZ) – Threw its head in the air shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Race 4: CAPE YORK WEEKLY / COOKTOWN HARDWARE BENCHMARK
45 HANDICAP – 1290 Metres
 
CODY’S BOY – Due to apprentice L. Guernier being indisposed and no other rider being available, CODY’S BOY was declared a late scratching at 1.55pm. As betting for this race had not commenced no deductions were applicable.  
 
ZAKHEERA – Slow to begin.

GREAT SURVEY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: AUSWASTE / MUSGRAVE ROADHOUSE COOKTOWN BRACELET
BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1290 Metres
 
BARMERA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Blundered badly on jumping and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near hind leg.
 
NIGHT GUY – After being initially slow to begin was then hampered by BARMERA which blundered badly on jumping causing NIGHT GUY to lose considerable ground.  
 
HEISWOODY – Compounded over the concluding stages. Rider M. Butler advised stewards the gelding never felt comfortable throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
Race 6: DIATREME RESOURCES CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
 
DELUXE LEGEND – Shifted its off hind plate in the tie up stalls prior to its race and was unable to be replated and as such permission was granted for the gelding to race without both hind plates.This was broadcast via on course public announcement.  
 
KOPANGI (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
 
Race 7: COOKTOWN BOWLS CLUB COOKTOWN CUP BENCHMARK 70
HANDICAP – 1760 Metres
 
SEEFELD – Shifted out at the start bumping RECONDITE.
 
RECONDITE (IRE) – Bumped on jumping.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have injured its off-for tendon.Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to it being permitted to trial or race again.     
 
VIENNA RAIN – Over-raced in the early stages.

EXALTED CROWN – Lost its off-side winker near the 1400 metres.
