STEWARDS REPORT CORFIELD RACE CLUB SATURDAY 3 AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – DirtRAIL – True Entire CoursePENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. GriffithsStewards – S. Nosworthy (Cadet) GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights:Race 1. J. Felix +0.5kg Race 1: MCQUEEN EARTHMOVING QTIS Maiden Plate 1000M AUSTRAL DIAMOND – Bumped with FABULOUS HOFFA on jumping. CHICA HOTTIE – Shifted in at the start. Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance when leading until passing the 500 metres. THE JILLAROO – Refused to load into the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:06pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on THE JILLAROO be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st CHICA HOTTIE – 12 cents the win, 11 cents the place2nd WAN D’AMOUR– 11 cents the place Trainer S. Royes was advised that THE JILAROO would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. WAN D’AMOUR – Slow into stride. FABULOUS HOFFA – Bumped with AUSTRAL DIAMOND on jumping. Race 2: TROPIC PETROLEUM BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000M PHONDLE – Began very awkwardly then bumped with RUBY SPARKLES shortly after. HI ZERO – Laid in over the concluding stages, TUCK – Slow into stride. NEW ARRIVAL – Blundered badly on jumping. RUBY SPARKLES – Bumped with PHONDLE shortly after the start. CHOSEN DISTANCE – Was declared a late scratching at 11:30am by order of the stewards. VILA TINTO – Stood flat-footed as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. BASQUE – Was declared a late scratching at 11:00am due to no available rider. BOOMALINA – Was declared a late scratching at 12:00pm on veterinary advice after sustaining an injury while being transported to the meeting. Trainer B. Thomson was advised BOOMALINA would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing. DEVIL’S NUMBER – Resented the kickback throughout the event. Race 3: CORRELA CATTLE COMPANY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000M MUSIC AWARD – Raced wide throughout. RELICTA – Shifted out at the start. Laid in over the concluding stages. BITTERGREYMAGIC – Began awkwardly. SHARPAY RULER – Slow into stride. Race 4: BRODIE AGENCIES CORFIELD CUP OPEN Handicap 1400M SOLE HEIR – Raced wide throughout. SOUTH PARADE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and an irregular heart rate. Trainer B. Thomson was advised SOUTH PARADE would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing. Upon returning to scale, rider A. Thomson reported that passing the 1300 metres she was struck in the mouth by a rock from the kickback and sustained a tooth injury. REFORMIST – Trainer K. McGovern was fined $400.00 pursuant to AR99(1)(b) for presenting runner BITONTHESIDE, which was engaged in race 5, instead of REFORMIST. In assessing penalty, Stewards noted Trainer K. McGovern’s excellent record over a long period of time. TEXAS STORM – Shifted out abruptly after crossing the field to lead momentarily unbalancing rider K. Ballard. CIAO BICKY – Shifted out at the start. DARK ARCHER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 5: NORTHERN RURAL GROUP BRACELET BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1400M The start was delayed due to the Club Veterinary Surgeon being required to provide treatment to another runner from a previous race. GOLDEN EIGHTY – Raced three-wide throughout. HEZAGEM – Shifted out shortly after the start tightening FLAMING TORCH (NZ) FLAMING TORCH (NZ) – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. MONTREUX – Was declared a late scratching at 12:00pm after refusing to load onto the float before being transported to the meeting. BADGE – Shifted in shortly after the start tightening FLAMING TORCH (NZ). Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. ONTHETAKE – Slow onto stride. Raced wide with cover throughout. LASTING PROMISE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer R. Hermann was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Raced wide throughout. BITONTHESIDE – Raced wide with cover throughout. FAR REACHING – Held up for clear running form entering the home straight up to a point passing the 200 metres. Race 6: COFFISON & SONS FUEL Class B Handicap 800M MR SQUIGGLE’S MATE – Slow into stride. REVVED UP READY – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
