Weather : Fine Track :Good

RACE ONE Class 1 Handicap 900 Metres 12 Starters
Jockey R.Moses was the replacement rider for HONEY TIME when the declared rider, Jockey K.Rockett was excessively overweight. Jockey Rockett was subsequently found guilty to a breach of Ar120(b) and fined the sum of $50. Jockey G.Kliese was late arriving on course due to car trouble and was replaced as the rider of MILLIE’S BID by Jockey J.Stopps. As the gates opened FORGERY (App N.Homann) reared badly and lost ground. At the 400mtr mark FOREVER MISS (C.Whiteley) hung outwards and raced very erratically, taking the home turn wide. At the 200mtr mark HONEY TIME (R.Moses) shifted outwards marginally and at the same time BECORNER (I.Toward) shifted inwards which resulted in POP’S CROWN (P.Crich) being steadied. At the 100mtr mark HONEY TIME (R.Moses) and BECORNER (I.Toward) came together.

RACE TWO Class 3 Handicap 1250 Metres 9 Starters
As the gates opened MR. DANIELS (J. Cairns) jumped outwards and brushed with DOMINATION (A. Cowie).

RACE THREE Class 4 Handicap 1300 Metres 6 Starters
At approximately the 800mtr mark MONGIE (App. N. Homann) laid out causing KOSICE (App. D. Crossland) to switch across its heels.

RACE FOUR Class 6 Handicap 1000 Metres 12 Starters
As the gates opened BENTLEY BAY (C. Whiteley) jumped inwards and brushed with EXACTING (Ms. M. Seagren). Jockey J. Stopps was admonished for allowing his mount GOLDEN REGAL, to shift in and cause JACKABAR (G. Kliese) to be checked. Upon returning to the enclosure OBJECTIVES had the presence of blood in both nostrils, the mount is now barred from racing for a period of three months as per the terms of Ar53A.

RACE FIVE Open Handicap 2100 Metres 13 Starters
At approximately the 200mtr mark STARWOOD (M.Cullen) checked when NED’S REVENGE (J.Cairns) shifted inwards and took STARWOOD inwards onto PARTY KING (C.Whiteley) which in turn was taken inwards onto PRETTY FOX (R.Ryan). Jockey J.Cairns was severely admonished for allowing his mount to shift inwards when not clear of STARWOOD (M.Cullen). When leaving the straight for the first time GRAND ESCAPE (I.Toward) was hampered for racing room inside of PRETTY FOX (R.Ryan). Apprentice N.Homann reported that her mount RISING BEAT had slipped momentarily when leaving the straight for the first time. At approximately the 600mtr mark of the event STAR HOME (A.Cowie) improved to the inside of DOUBLE TIME’s (G.Kliese) heels and in doing so inconvenienced the running of STARWOOD (M.Cullen) which had to be restrained.

RACE SIX Class 5 Handicap 1700 Metres 7 Starters
CAYMAN ISLAND was a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse was sore in the near-fore leg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered deductions be given at a rate of 11cents in the dollar for the win portion of the bet and 12cents in the dollar for the place portion of the bet. Stewards opened an inquiry into Trainer T.Cramp’s conduct in the saddling enclosure following this event. Mr Cramp was charged with misconduct under the terms of Ar8(e) with regard to comments that he had made directed to the club’s veterinary surgeon. Mr Cramp pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently fined the sum of three hundred dollars.

GENERAL REPORT
Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for licensed Stablehand Mr G.Porter wearing a body protect which was not of an approved standard on the 7th August 2000 whilst riding trackwork, after having been directed by the Stewards not to do so on the 1st August 2000. Mr Porter pleaded guilty to a breach of Ar8(e) in that he did disobey a Stewards direction. Mr Porter was subsequently fined the sum of $250.
