STEWARDS : Mr P.Cooper (Chairman)
Mr D.Griffiths, Mr W.Bethel, Mr S.Abel, Mr W.Birch
Weather : Fine Track : Good

RACE ONE Maiden Handicap 1000 Metres 8 Starters
As the gates opened HAYLEY’S REIGN (K.Brady) jumped inwards and made contact with HEMMANT FLASH (F.Edwards). ZEBU (R.Gallacher) and XENA’S MAGIC (R.Ryan) came together as the field jumped. At approximately the 600mtr mark IMPERIAL PRIZE (N.Paine) was steadied when XENA’S MAGIC (R.Ryan) shifted off the fence, Jockey Ryan was cautioned and advised to show more care in the future. ZEBU (R.Gallacher) raced ungenerously through out the event. ANOTHER DEBIT (C.Whiteley) hung in from the home turn. Over the concluding stages of the event ZEBU (R.Gallacher) steadied from the heels of XENA’S MAGIC (R.Ryan).

RACE TWO Class 1 Handicap 1250 Metres 12 Starters
EL QABOW (K.Rockett) blundered when leaving the barriers. Jockey B.Corbett was charged with careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that at approximately the 1000mtr mark he allowed his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of ALLEZ SLEW (App D.Crossland). Jockey Corbett was found guilty of the charge and was subsequently suspended from riding in races from midnight on the 2nd September 2000, up to and including the 16th September 2000, being a period covered by three meetings.

RACE THREE Class 2 Handicap 1400 Metres 14 Starters
At the start HIS LORDSHIP (C.Symons) was eased when BELLESHANI (N.Paine) jumped outwards and OCEANOGRAPHER (D.Dean) jumped inwards. A protest was lodged by Jockey R.Gallacher being the rider of the third placegetter, OUT OF THIS PLANET, against the second placegetter CAPTAIN ROBINSON (D.Philpot) for alleged interference over the concluding stages of the event. After taking evidence from the riders and viewing the patrol footage of the incident, the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judges placings. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey D.Philpot was admonished for allowing her mount to shift inwards over the concluding stages of the event. The saddle on POP’S CROWN (I.Toward) slipped at approximately the 900mtr mark which resulted in Jockey Toward being unable to ride his mount out. At approximately the 50mtr mark MADAME’S NEDIYM (F.Edwards) was momentarily tightened for racing room when BELLESHANI (N.Paine) shifted outwards and DOMINATION (A.Cowie) shifted inwards.

RACE FOUR Class 4 Handicap 1000 Metres 9 Starters
SEA TIDE (D.Philpot) was checked by the club’s veterinary surgeon behind the barrier stalls and declared fit to start. As the start was effected ALMOST THERE (A.Cowie) jumped outwards and brushed with ROCKFORD).

RACE FIVE Class 5 Handicap 1250 Metres 9 Starters
At the start BOWASTA (C.Whiteley) jumped away awkwardly. WONG SIGN (B.Corbett) hung out in the early to middle stages of the event. BE EARLY returned to the enclosure with a minor laceration to the off-side nostril.

RACE SIX Open Handicap 1000 Metres 7 Starters
As the gates opened NOTHING TO HIDE (B.Corbett) jumped outwards and made contact with CARACAS (R.Ryan). PA MAGIC (App N.Homann) blundered badly when leaving the barriers and then hung outwards from the 600mtr mark. Soon after the start PROSPECTOR CHIEF (G.Cullen) eased from the heels of CARACAS (R.Ryan).

RACE SEVEN Open Handicap 2100 Metres 14 Starters
D.Dean (RAVING) was cautioned for removing his skull cap prior to dismounting from his horse, as per Lr50.

RACE EIGHT Class 6 Handicap 1400 Metres 10 Starters
Trainer L.Melvin was fined the sum of $50 for breaching Lr70(1) in that he failed to declare a rider for INNUENDO by the specified time. As the gates opened VISLANDA (G.Cullen) jumped out onto McCAVITY (App D.Crossland). VISLANDA (G.Cullen) hung outwards in the early and middle stages of the event.
