RACE 1 MAIDEN PLATE 1250 METRES 7 STARTERS
CRUISER SHARKEY was a late scratching at 7:50 a.m. Trainer V Poetzscher was fined $100 for failing to scratch by the time specified in the program (AR 114 a). Jockey M Seagren was replaced on HORSE FEATHERS by Jockey J Cairns, when M Seagren could not make the weight. Jockey Seagren was fined $100 (LR 120 b) LADY TRISH jumped in at the start and brushed COBBLES. WILLOW’S CHOICE which was over racing had to be steadied off the heels of LAWREY’S BELLOTTO at the 950 metres. Approaching the 900 metres GANGELIES shifted in and hampered WILLOW’S CHOICE and when corrected GANGELIES ran extremely wide on the track. From that point GANGELIES continues to hang out until the home turn. It was noted that over the concluded stages Jockey I Toward was unable to test WILLOW”S CHOICE fully as a result of WILLOWS CHOICE wanting to hang in.

RACE 2 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 7 STARTERS
DUAL DEAL was slow to begin. At the 750 metres DUAL DEAL which was over racing had to be steadied off the heels of MY DESIGN and continued to race fiercely until obtaining clear running in the straight. QUALITY SUCCESS was disappointed for a run behind the tiring KNOCK OFF TIME at the 250 metres.

RACE 3 SUPER QRIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRES 9 STARTERS
At the 750 metres ALIMAY attempted to improve to the inside of MESCAY FLYER where there was insufficient room and as a consequence had to be checked by its rider. ALIMAY became unbalanced in this incident and shifted in and contacted the running rail. At the 300 metres KALBO ROAD had to be steadied momentarily when taking a run to the inside of ANOTHER COMET which was tiring and shifting in marginally. ALIMAY shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip at the 250 metres.

RACE 4 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 8 STARTERS
DARK CRUSADER jumped with its head in the air and lost ground. At the 250 metres GREY RAMA (App N Homann) shifted in and checked WHO’S MY DAD which was taken in onto DARK CRUSADER which was also hampered. App N Homann was reprimanded for not making a greater effort to keep her horse on a straight course prior to the incident (AR 137 a). Jockey R Ryan was dislodged from DARK CRUSADER on pulling up and sustained no injury in this incident. Jockey F Edwards was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WHO’S MY DAD. Jockey Edwards advised that WHO’S MY DAD had travelled well until placed under pressure at the home turn and despite being checked at the 200 metres, he advised that WHO’S MY DAD was well beaten at that point of the race. WHO’S MY DAD was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who reported no abnormalities, the explanation of Jockey F Edwards was noted and WHO’S MY DAD was sent to be swabbed.

RACE 5 SUPER QRIS 3YO MAIDEN 1000 METRES 12 STARTERS
GOLDEN AGENT was slow to begin. EXSULTARE and HULA RULES jumped awkwardly. Making the home turn GOLDEN AGENT shifted out to improve forcing GRAZIE ANRICO wider on the track. It was noted that GOLDEN AGENT had to be checked across the heels of DANE TIP which was tiring at the 300 metres.


RACE 6 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1250 METRES 12 STARTERS
SPRING REGENT jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with ACES BLACK, MILLIES BID, COOYONG and FRAARTOUS were all checked when tightened for room between ACES BLACK and AURELIUS which jumped in. Jockey C Symons was questioned regarding the riding tactics he adopted on ACES BLACK. Jockey Symons advised that ACES BLACK, which was having its first start on the track, had hung out for the majority of the event and had run extremely wide making the home turn. The explanation of Jockey C Symons was noted and Trainer R Johnston was issued with a warning concerning ACES BLACK hanging out. SPRING REGENT had to be steadied off heels at the 350 metres. Approaching the 200 metres RUB THE BUDA attempted to take a run to the inside of OUR MONOKEE where there was insufficient room. RUB THE BUDA was held up for clear running for some considerable distance. App S Morris (RUB THE BUDA) was advised to exercise care in simular circumstances.

RACE 7 OPEN HANDICAP 1250 METRES 9 STARTERS
BLACKLOCK dwelt when the gates opened and lost ground. Making the first turn TRANSITORY which was over racing hung out and as a consequence PERSHING was tightened for room between TRANSITORY and BLACKLOCK. As the pace steadied WILDIE commenced to hang out passing the 1000 metres.

RACE 8 CLASS 6 PLATE 1400 METRES 9 STARTERS
An Inquiry was held into the reason for MISTER DANZIG blundering and dislodging Jockey I Toward after passing the 200 metres. After taking evidence from Jockey’s I Toward, F Edwards (CASTELOZOS), G Kliese (ACROSS) R Ryan (ISLAND WHIRL) and Apprentice S Morris (DELTA GLOW) it was established that CASTELOZOS had shifted in when not sufficiently clear of MISTER DANZIG resulting in MISTER DANZIG being taken in onto DELTA GLOW and ISLAND WHIRL. Jockey F Edwards was found guilty of riding in a Careless Manner (AR 137a) and was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 20/11/01 up to and including 13/12/01 (3 weeks).

All winners and WHO’S MY DAD were sent to be swabbed.

GENERAL:
The Digital Photo Finish was inoperable for races 1,2,3,4,5,6 & 8. The Club Judge was required to place all runners manually due to the computer problem.
