Supplementary Stewards Report:
Stewards today opened an inquiry into the results of a urine sample provided by Jockey S. Morris at Cairns Jockey Club on Saturday, 24 October 2009. Jockey S. Morris pleaded guilty of a charge under AR81A (1) (a) in that a urine sample provided by him at the Cairns Jockey Club on Saturday, 24 October 2009, upon analysis was found to contain the banned substance frusemide. S. Morris’s licence was suspended to ride in races for a period of one (1) month effective Wednesday, 11 November 2009, the day of which he was stood down. Stewards further ordered that acting under the provisions of AR81A (1)(4) jockey S. Morris not resume riding track work until he deliver a sample free of any banned substances banned by AR81B.

General:
Apprentice T. Fujinuma was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR92(12) for failing to claim his full allowance in Race 4 COMETEZNAME and Race 5 - SNEAK ‘N’ OUT.

Race 1: CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1250M
1st – KONINGIN STAR 2nd – RULEIRE 3rd – LIGHTNING JACK 4th – GRACERIN

At the start, RULIERE (App T. Fujinuma) shifted in and bumped LIGHTNING JACK (G. Kliese).

Due to heavy rain the track was downgraded to a Slow (6) following the running of this event.

Race 2: ARNEL FENCING MAIDEN PLATE 960M
1st – PRECOCIOUS BELLE 2nd –LAWCOURT 3rd –MEGAROYAL 4th – JESSE GIRL

LAWCOURT (G. Kliese) was slow to begin.

MEGAROYAL (M. Dale) raced wide for the majority of the event.

M. Dale the rider of MEGAROYAL was reprimanded for the use of his whip prior to the 100m.

Race 3: ARNEL FENCING CLASS 3 PLATE 960M
1st – AMAZING LOVER 2nd – GENERAL VANDAL 3rd – SHOCKIE 4th – RUBIN JANE

At the start, NINETY DEGREES (F. Edwards) jumped in and made contact with RUBIN JANE (C. Eaton).

SHOCKIE (M. Dale) and AMAZING LOVER (App T. Fujinuma) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Apprentice T. Fujinuma was fined the sum of $200 for excessive use of his whip on AMAZING LOVER under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii).

Race 4: ARNEL FENCING CLASS B HANDICAP 1500M
1st – HEZA RULLAH 2nd –COMETEZNAME 3rd – DEENLESTER 4th – EL NAVIDAD

BEEBEESDUAL was declared a late withdrawal at 3.52pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the gelding was fractious in the barriers. Prior to the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BEEBEESDUAL be refunded in full with the deductions of less 16c in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and less 14c in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket. Trainer S. Potiris was advised that BEEBEESDUAL would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.

COMETZENAME (App T. Fujinuma) jumped away awkwardly.

F. Edwards the rider of DEENLESTER was reprimanded for the use of his whip prior to the 100m.

Race 5: CAIRNS MULCH OPEN HANDICAP 1250M
1st –SHE MAKES ME BUSY 2ND –TESTIFY 3rd – REFUHRENCE 4th – CARRY ON ACE

Stewards permitted K. Rockett to ride REFUHRENCE one kilogram overweight, as no other rider was available.

Approaching the 200m, K. Rockett the rider of REFUHRENCE accidentally dropped his whip.
