Race 1: Rowe Racing QTIS 3yo H'cap - 900 metres
1st Chateau Dettori 2nd Wishful 3rd Sweet Asa Rose 4th- He's A Ladies Man

WISHFUL (S. Wiseman) and SWEET ASA ROSE (J. Kuskopf) were slow to begin.

Near the 1350m, CHATEAU DETTORI (E. Ljung) shifted in and bumped WISHFUL.

DAZZLUNA (W. D'Avila) raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 2: Rowe Racing Open H'cap - 1250m
1st Morossa 2nd General Rippa 3rd Go Amigo 4th- Bar Attack

Approaching the 1000m BOB AND DOLLY (S. Pawsey) was severely checked between BAR ATTACK (B. Swaffer), which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out, and MISS RYE (F. Edwards), which was shifting in away from MOROSSA (M. Cullen), which in turn was taken in slightly by GENERAL RIPPA (W. D'Avila). Whilst the checked was of some significance, stewards were unable to attribute blame to any one rider and therefore no direct action was taken. Following the incident, the riders involved all expressed concern with the manner in which the rail at that point of the track turns as, in their opinion, it is too sharp for horses in sprint races to negotiate safely. This matter will be raised with the relevant persons at Racing Queensland.

BAR ATTACK (B. Swaffer) hung in in the straight.

Race 3: Great Northern Benchmark 75 H'cap - 950m
1st– Stieg 2nd Boom Sha 3rd Sun Warrior 4th- Bolt From The Blue

BOLT FROM THE BLUE (S. Wiseman) and BESIEGED (J. Kuskopf) were very slow to begin.

Near the 500m, CANYON ROAD (J. Felix), which was racing tight inside STIEG (S. Pawsey), brushed the running rail, became badly unbalanced and lost ground.

Race 4: Merry Christmas From The CJC Class 2 H'cap - 950m
1st Lideem 2nd Pink 'n' Blue 3rd Significant Choice 4th – Zip 'n' Zizz

RICH 'n' FAMOUS (B. Swaffer) and DART HEAD (E. Ljung) bumped at the start.

PINK 'n' BLUE (J. Kuskoph) raced very greenly in the straight and shifted ground.

Near the 400m, ZIP 'n' ZIZZ (N. Yadi) lost its off fore plate.

Following the race, trainer G. Doolan said RICH 'n' FAMOUS was found to have a small laceration to the off hind leg, however, in his opinion, this did not have a bearing on the somewhat disappointing performance. Mr Doolan added that depending on how the gelding pulled up it may be his intention now to spell the horse.

Race 5: Chinese New Year 8th Feb Maiden H'cap - 1250m
1st Livingston 2nd Liable 3rd Charlie's Lass 4th- Tete de Seau

ROCOCO (J. Kuskopf) was slow to begin and trailed the field throughout.

ARCOBALENOS (K. Rockett) dipped on jumping away.

Jockey F. Edwards was fined $200 in that he used his whip 10 times in a forehand manner prior the 100m, including some these being consecutive.

Race 6: Airfirst Benchamrk 65 H'cap - 1250m
1st Mr Bulista 2nd Gwennie 3rd Electric Blue 4th- Here To Dash

On jumping DIVA DIOR (J. Kuskoph) shifted out, causing VON SEBASTIAN (W. D'Avila) to be crowded on to the hind quarters of ELECTRIC BLUE (B. Swaffer).

TWIZZLE (J. Felix) was slow to begin.

For some distance after the 700m, DIVA DIOR raced awkwardly when tight inside HOAKSTRESS (K. Rockett), and then near the 500m was checked when HOAKSTRESS shifted in slightly, and DR PEGASUS, which was racing to the inside of DIVA DIOR, struck the fence and shifting out. HERE TO DASH (F. Edwards), which was following, was checked and shifted out abruptly.

Race 7: Keir Qld Pty Ltd Class 1 H'cap - 1400m
1st Bighorn 2nd Manzanita 3rd Naga Viper 4th- Press Play

NAGA VIPER (B. Swaffer) and LADY BULLMORE (M. Cullen) were slow to begin.

Jockey K. Rockett, rider of ELEVATOR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the first turn near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WILD RUMOURS (K. Stone), resulting in WILD RUMOURS clipping the heels of ELEVATOR, blundering badly and almost dislodging K. Stone, rider of WILD RUMOURS. GRAND ELEGANCE (S. Wiseman), which was following, was severely checked and shifted out abruptly. Having considered that jockey K. Rockett had been absent from riding for an extended period of time due to injury, stewards deemed the appropriate penalty be that his licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to commence immediately, and expire at midnight, 7 January 2014.

Making the first turn, ZATSACAT (E. Ljung), was severely checked and blundered badly when it struck the heels of LOVE THAT DRAGON (F. Edwards), which after initially shifting in was then unable to relieve the pressure when WHYDON'TYALIKEME (J. Felix) then established a racing line close to LOVE THAT DRAGON. Similarly when J. Felix, rider of WHYDON'TYALIKEME, endeavoured to shift to relieve the pressure he was unable to due to PRESS PLAY (W. D'Avila) occupying a tight 4-wide position. Whilst the check was one of some significance, the stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one rider and therefore no direct action was taken. When ZATSACAT was checked severely, NAGA VIPER (B. Swaffer), which was following that horse, also was severely checked.

W. D'Avila, rider of PRESS PLAY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near near the 600m he permitted his mount to shift in across the running of MANZANITA (S. Pawsey), which was checked severely. ZATSACAT, which was following MANZANITA, was also checked in consequence. Jockey D'Avila's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period commence at midnight, 29 December, and to expire midnight, 11 January 2014.
