Raced three wide without cover throughout. ALPINE MAGIC – Bounded in the air on jumping. NEW CALEDONIA –When racing in restricted room to the inside of ALPINE MAGIC (Apprentice A Thomson) made the crossing near the 800 metres very awkwardly. Apprentice A Thomson was advised to ensure sufficient racing room for runners to her inside. Trainer reported the filly had sustained a minor laceration to its near hind fetlock. RACE 2: Bugeja Earthmoving Benchmark 50 Handicap 950 metres 1st – BEYOND LIMITS 2nd – MY GIRL’S A DRAGON 3rd – BIG TOMEE 4th – OAKFIELD AVENGER BEYOND LIMITS – Slow to begin. MILLI VANILLI – Slow to begin. MY GIRL’S A DRAGON – Inclined to lay in throughout. RACE 3: Mark Dodge Motoring Class 6 Plate 1250 metres1st – TURN UP THE VOLUME 2nd – RISE TO THE TOP 3rd – FOUR JAYS 4th – STORM IN A RAINBOW VEE FORCEwas a late withdrawal at 2.20pm after being inspected by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and was found to be lame. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on VEE FORCE be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 2.20pm be subject to the following deductions of 23c win and 22c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainers Representative Mr P Rowe was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness for VEE FORCE would be required prior to the gelding again starting in a race. RISE TO THE TOP – Jockey S Wilson was fined $200 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip. RACE 4: Westco Motors Maiden Plate 1250 metres1st – SHE’S GOT SWAGGER 2nd – MONASHEE LASS 3rd – WILD AZ WILL 4th – TYPHOON PARADISE Jockey M Gray replaced Jockey K Rockett as the rider of MONASHEE LASS when Jockey Rockett was to be overweight. Jockey Rockett was fined $100 under AR120(b). TYPHOON PARADISE – Slow to begin. FROTH ‘N’ BUBBLES – Jockey S Wilson reported that the mare got its tongue over the bit immediately after the start and raced erratically with its head in the air. Hung out badly rounding the turn at the 800 metres forcing SHE’S GOT SWAGGER (Jockey S Kaya) and WILD AZ WILL (Apprentice E Cass) wider on the track. Was subsequently eased out of the race from the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant findings. Trainers Representative advised Stewards that the mare will now be sent for an immediate spell and when it returns to work will have the addition of a tongue tie to its gear. Notwithstanding this advice Stewards placed a warning on the mare for its racing manners and should it behave similarly in future it will be required to trial. SHE’S GOT SWAGGER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Forced wider on the track at the 800 metre turn when another runner was hanging out. Jockey S Kaya was fined $300 under AR137A(5)(a)(i) & (ii) for excessive use of the whip. WILD AZ WILL - Forced wider on the track at the 800 metre turn when another runner was hanging out. MONASHEE LASS - Jockey M Gray was fined $100 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip. RACE 5: POP Massingham Memorial Benchmark 55 Handicap 1400 metres1st – CASINO ESCAPEE 2nd – CARLSON’S FELT 3rd – KATTER 4th – GOD’S REWARD KATTER – Fractious in the barriers. HIDDEN REIGN – Inclined to hang out in the early stages. EIRIAN – Over raced in the early stages. Made the turn near the 1000 metres awkwardly and lost ground.
