QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB – 22 APRIL 2017 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SOFT 6 RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – 5.29 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr P. MassinghamBookmakers Supervisor – StewardsStarter – Mr P. Kennedy Race 1: TOTAL EDEN CAIRNS BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1250M MUST BE OBEYED – Began awkwardly. Bumped heavily near 800m and forced wider. CATNAP – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels shortly after the start. Improved onto heels near the 700m and shifted wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MISS HAVISHAM – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly. EIRIAN – Over-raced in the middle stages of the race. AESOP – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 800m making heavy contact with another runner then raced wide from that point on. Rider S. Kaya was reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground. Race 2: UNION JACK HOTEL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 950M ZARA LOUISE – Was slow to begin. LATE CALL – Began very awkwardly and shifted in bumping another runner losing ground. ALPINE MAGIC – Bumped at the start. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 400m and became unbalanced. MAGNITUDE LAD – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer D. Piccolo was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. Race 3: ELITE REAL ESTATE CLASS 3 PLATE – 950M HIDDEN REIGN – Dislodged rider E. Cass in the enclosure prior to entering the course proper giving her a seemingly harmless fall. Ms Cass declared herself fit to fulfil her engagement. Began awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing outside runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bowed its near fore tendon. Trainer T. Rowe advised Stewards that consideration would be given to the mare now being retired from racing. Mr Rowe was nonetheless advised that should HIDDEN REIGN return to racing that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior the horse being permitted to race again. LILLY KAREENA – Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. COMPULSIVE ROCKET – Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. GLOBAL GURU – Slow into stride. VAUNTING – Rider advised the gelding was not comfortable in today’s track conditions. RICH ‘N’ FAMOUS – Returned to scale in respiratory distress. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a respiratory disorder. Trainer representative Mr R. Ryan advised Stewards consideration would be given to the gelding now being retired from racing. Mr Ryan was nonetheless advised that should RICH ‘N’ FAMOUS return to racing that a veterinary clearance must be provided before the gelding being required to trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior the horse being permitted to race again. Race 4: TWOMEY SCHRIBER PROPERTY GROUP CLASS B H’CAP – 1400M MUSTANG JACK – Dislodged rider M. Kai in the enclosure prior to entering course proper giving him a seemingly harmless fall. M. Kai declared himself fit to fulfil his engagement. FINCH – Slow to begin. TABITHA MAGIC – Kicked by another runner during its preliminary and was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers before being cleared to start. Steadied near the 1200m when the rider was hit with a large clod of dirt becoming momentarily disorientated. PINK STILETTO – Restrained to avoid heels approaching the 1000m. Made the 1000m turn awkwardly. Steadied near 600m when racing in restricted room. SUNSHINY GIRL – Shifted in near the 1000m inconveniencing another runner. Rider A. Thomson was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Race 5: NORWORLD ENGINEERING BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1400M FOREST WAY – Raced 3 wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
