QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB – TUESDAY 6th NOVEMBER 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD 3 RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSStewards – P Lane, B.ConnellStarter – P KennedyClerk of Scales – C GordonJudge – B GrayVeterinarian – E Maloney Sample Collection Officer – P Charters SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Cairns Jockey Club – Wednesday 31st October 2018 Race 4: RED BERET HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1900m Jockey S Kaya was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 150m he allowed his mount PLATINUM PULSE to shift in when insufficiently clear of the tiring ROBABANK (Ms. B Thomson) which resulted in that runner having to be restrained. Jockey M Abe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that soon after passing the winning post he allowed his mount HOTEL HILLTOP to shift out into the path of PLATINUM PULSE (S Kaya) when insufficiently clear to do so, which resulted in that runner blundering and dislodging Jockey Kaya. Jockey Abe’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 weeks to commence at midnight Sunday November 11th 2018 up to and including midnight Sunday December 2nd 2018. In determining penalty, whilst Stewards took into account Jockey Abe’s forthright evidence, his acknowledgement of guilt and his conduct during the inquiry, they were also mindful of his recent record in relation to the rule, the degree of carelessness and the level of interference, both of which were considered to be in the high range. Jockey Abe was advised of his right of Internal Review. RACE DAY REPORT Race 1: ORRCON STEEL QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1250m LAPELS – Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Slightly inconvenienced by another runner which was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. EVIE CAT - Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Had to be restrained around heels near the 1000m. Raced ungenerously for a short distance when placed in restricted room near the 900m. ROCKET ‘N’ RUBY – Passing the 1000m appeared to take fright after making contact with the running rail and raced ungenerously for some distance thereafter. Made the 800m crossing awkwardly. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. UPTOWN TOFF – Shifted in abruptly near the 250m when in clear running and made heavy contact with the running rail blundering badly and losing considerable ground in this incident. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr T Rowe was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. BUNDY BOY – Had to be severely checked to avoid the heels of a runner in front which lost ground after making heavy contact with the running rail. Race 2: CARLTON MID CLASS 3 PLATE 1250m BANSHEE JET – Slowly into stride after being inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in shortly after jumping. LATTIMER – Shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing another runner. Inclined to shift ground inwards under pressure down the running. FEMALE OFFICER – Shifted out under pressure near the 250m inconveniencing another runner. AHERN – Raced wide for the majority. Was inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out under pressure near the 250m. TWICE THE STYLE – Jockey S Kaya advised that in his opinion the gelding which was having its 2nd start in 6 days had failed to back up. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 3: BUGEJA EARTHMOVING CLASS 6 PLATE 950m As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey S Wilson to ride FLINDERS HIWAY 2kg over its allotted weight. ROSE CLIP – Shifted in on jumping crowding runners to its inside. Near the 500m laid in severely hampering another runner. Stewards, although acknowledging that Jockey K Stone had made some effort to straighten his mount at this point, nonetheless severely reprimanded Jockey Stone. FLINDERS HIWAY – Inconvenienced by another runner on jumping which shifted in. Severely hampered near the 550m by another runner which laid in. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. THE BEE’S KNEES – Inconvenienced by another runner on jumping which shifted in. Was unable to muster pace in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority. RYLEE’S SAGA – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: ARBORCARE TREE SERVICES NQ CLASS 2 HANDICAP 950m SUPER SHOES – Began awkwardly. Lost ground near the 900m when crowded between runners. WILL HE TORQUE – Lost ground near the 900m when crowded between runners. NICK’S NIGHT OUT – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: AUDI CENTRE CAIRNS COUNTRY CUPS CHALL QUAL/ CAIRNS CITY CUP OPEN HCP 1400m TURN UP THE VOLUME – Was a late withdrawal at 3.35pm by order of Stewads on Veterinary advice after being found to be lame in the near fore leg. Prior to declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on TURN UP THE VOLUME be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 7 cents in the dollar win and 7 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr T. Rowe was advised that a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race. SIRIUS WITNESS – Stood flat-footed in the barriers missing the start by a considerable distance. Trainer’s representative Mr L. Reys was advised that the mare would be required to obtain one further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. GREAT PRETENDER – Slowly into stride after bumping with another runner on jumping. STANDFORD – Slowly into stride after bumping with another runner on jumping. Was inclined to over race in the middle stages. CRACOW – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. BOLD KINGSTON – Slowly into stride. Was inclined to over race in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure down the running. COUTAINVILLE – Laid in rounding the 900m turn inconveniencing another runner. Jockey K.Stone was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. CRAIGLEA ALDI – Was inconvenienced by another runner which laid in rounding the 900m turn.
