As riders C. Jokic, S. Pawsey and S. Gittos were unable to attend today’s meeting, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.  
 
Race 1: Norlift QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1250m  
 
FLAMING LAMBORGINI – Slowly away.
 
LUNCH WITH COOPS – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
VAN GAAL – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
SWEET JUNE – Commenced to over-race approaching the 1000m and shifted out when being restrained off heels, forcing other runners wider. Raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
GO JABBA – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Forced wider by another runner near the 1000m. Raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
UPTOWN TOFF – Forced wider by another runner near the 1000m and raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
PRIVATE CLIENT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: FNQ Big Screens Maiden H’cap - 950  
 
INSTINCTION LASS – Slowly away.
 
NIGHT TALKER – Slowly away.
 
KENSINGTON GOLD – Shifted out on jumping, making contact with another runner to its outside.
 
LAGA LAD – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Was inconvenienced by another runner, which shifted out soon after straightening.
 
MASHAKA – Bumped by another runner on jumping, becoming unbalanced.
 
THE GROVE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Travelled wide for the majority of the race.
 
BONNEZONE – Became unbalanced rounding the home turn, shifting out marginally, inconveniencing another runner. Was quickly straightened.
 
WE WILLIE MAC – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg.  Trainer R. Baker was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.
 
Following the running of Race 2 the track rating was upgraded to Soft 6.
 
 
Race 3:  Totally Workwear Cairns Benchmark 60 H’cap – 950m  
 
ROSE CLIP – Slow to begin.
 
VOLTAIC – Slow to begin.
 
POETIC PEARL – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TESTATIME – Slowly into stride.
 
STRONG WILL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LOVESON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RUBY RED SOCKS - Raced wide for the majority of the race. When questioned in relation to the performance, jockey M. Abe be explained that after travelling wide throughout, the mare, which was resuming from a spell, had not finished the race off as well as expected and would benefit from today’s outing.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 4:  Cairns Cup 3 & 10 August BM60 H’cap – 950m  
 
MAGIC GLOW – Fractious in the barriers. Bumped by another runner on jumping. Trainer R. Nelson advised it was his intention to add a tongue to horses gear prior to its next race start.
 
WHINGING WIFE – Slow to begin.
 
MIRACLES APLENTY – Slow to begin.
 
SYAMANTAKA MANI – Began awkwardly, shifting out and bumping with another runner to its outside.
 
MAGNITUDE LAD – Jockey F. Edwards, rider of MAGNITUDE LAD, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that he permitted his mount to shift in under riding approaching the 200m, causing OUR RECIPE (B. Thomson), which had established a run to the inside of MAGNITUDE LAD, to be checked and having to alter course. Jockey F. Edwards licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight Thursday 25 July 2019 and to expire midnight Friday 2 August 2019.
 
 
Race 5: Cairns Sunland Leisure Park Class 2 H’cap – 1250m  
 
ZELENUS – Slow to begin.
 
LANSALA – Slow to begin.
 
ROTHSTOCK’N’BELLA – Rider C. Whitely advised stewards that the gelding had hung in for the majority of the race, proving difficult to ride. Trainer R. Moller was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to start in a race. Restrained off heels near the 500m. Hung in for the majority of the race.
 
INDY SHOWGIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
COULD I BE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 6: Christmas Party Race Day On Sale Class 2 H’cap – 1250m  
 
FIELDS AVENUE – Connections advised it was their intention if circumstances permit to ride the horse further back in the field than usual. An announcement to this effect was made over the public address system. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 450m when disappointed for a run.
 
FOXY FELINE – Was fractious in the barriers. Began very awkwardly. Had to be restrained off heels near the 600m when the pace slackened.
 
CANDY GIRL – Slow to begin. Made the 1000m turn awkwardly.
 
VIVA LAS VEGAS – Had to be restrained off heels near the 600m.
 
PURRHAPS – Had to be checked after improving on to heels when the pace slackened near the 600m.
 
TAPTHETILL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CITY SECRETS – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages.  A post-race failed reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L. Ashford was advised a warning would be placed on its competitiveness at TAB meetings.  
 
Race 7: The Eagle Flyer Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1250m  
 
SNOWY MOET – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping the runner to its outside.
 
NO BITING – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
MAN AROUND TOWN – Became unbalanced after making contact with the running rail near the 950m.
 
POLAR BLAST – Laid under in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OAKFIELD AVENGER – Restrained around the heels of a tiring runner near the 200m.
 
BOLD KINGSTON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 8:  Cairns Platinum Realty Open H’cap – 1500m  
 
 
WE JUST LOVE IT – Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride near the 1100m and became unbalanced.
 
SET THE BAR HIGH – Blundered on jumping and was then inconvenienced by another runner  which shifted in and as a result lost ground.
 
RAMSDEN STREET – Shifted in when brushed by another runner at the start Rider B. Thomson reported the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the race, connections will now consider a possible gear change prior to its next start.
 
 
Race 9: Rowe Racing Class 3 Plate – 1500m  
 
ZIEGELBAUER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
 
UNCHARTERED – Slow to begin.
 
CORINTH – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance rider W. D’Avila advised Stewards that in his opinion the horse is looking for a longer distance than that of today’s event. Trainer R. Chillemi agreed with jockey D’Avila’s assessment and further advised he had been disadvantaged with recent bad weather and race cancelations. Their  explanations were noted.      
 
CROCADILE SHOES – Slow to begin.

MAGIC BELINDA – Shifted out at the start bumping another runner.
 
ROTH’N’BELL – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
BACKTOSPEC – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AGILITY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FLYING FERO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.

Race 10: Magic Millions/FNQ Up & Coming Stayers Benchmark 69 H’cap – 2100m  
 
THE FOX EFFECT – Blundered on jumping.
 
GREAT PRETENDER – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
OCCHILUPO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
REAL STING – Over-raced for a short distance leaving the 1600m. Went amiss in running and was retired from the race leaving the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore fetlock. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.
 
BOLD AVENUE – Restrained off heels approaching the 400m.
 
ZOFFANY ROCKET – Rider W. D’Avila, was fined the sum of $200 in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m.
