Race 1: TAB Class 2 H’cap – 950m 
 
MISS CELITA – Began awkwardly.
 
START ME UP – Slow to begin.
 
LITTLE BIT OF SUZY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
READY FOR LOVE – Shifted out at the 400m, forcing another runner wider. Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post, crowding runners to its inside. Rider N. Callow was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
KISS THE BOSS – Shifted out near the 400m, hampering another runner. Shifted in and away from another runner approaching the winning post when crowded for room.
 
NIC’S TIME – Hampered by another runner near the 400m.
 
TECZA – Forced wider rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

HIGH DIVE – Steadied approaching the winning post when crowded for room by another runner, which shifted in.
Race 2: Underwood Party Hire QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1250m 
 
MT PETER MISS – Slow to begin.  Shifted wider leaving the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
EL OF  A SAGA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with another runner. Was reluctant to take a run near the 200m when racing to the inside of another runner.  Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FLYING SARA – Bumped by another runner on jumping and shifted out, hampering another runner.
 
LOVE IS BLIND – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping, becoming unbalanced. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m before being corrected.
 
GO JABBA – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and shifted out. Raced ungenerously for a short distance thereafter. Rider  S. Kaya was cautioned over his whip use prior to the 100m.
 
Race 3: NOrlift Class 1 H’cap – 1250m 
 
INDY SHOWGIRL – Began awkwardly.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TRIUMPH STAR – Shifted out leaving the 300m, bumping heavily with another runner.
 
MISTER MAGNUSIFENT – Bumped heavily by another runner leaving the 300m, which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FRED’S GIFT – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
EVIE’S PEARL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
NARDA SHAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: Australian Point Of Sale Solutions Class 4 H’cap – 1400m 
 
I’M NOT SURE – Slow to begin.
 
FIRST STIMULUS – Slow to begin.
 
LANSALA – Slow to begin.
 
VIA BALCIANO – Improved onto the heels of another runner approaching the 1000m and had to be steadied.
 
ZIEGELBAUER – A post-race veterinary revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg following the race. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next start.

Race 5: CSF Industries Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1600m 
 
MY SHU MAI – Slow to begin.
 
AGILITY – Slow to begin.  Overraced in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 900m.
 
POETIC ATTACKS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
LORD ARCHER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
CELESTIAL JEWEL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 6: FGF Bitumen Class 6 Plate – 1250m 
 
PORTMAN – Slow to begin.
 
SALESMAN – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and began awkwardly.
 
BOLD KINGSTON – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and shifted out, forcing other runners wider. Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to both hind legs. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
SPARKLY STAR – Forced wider near the 1000m.
 
OAKFIELD AVENGER – Forced wider near the 1000m.
 
POLAR BLAST – Checked near the 1000m and forced wider by runners to its inside that were forced wider, and then was restrained at the rear of the field to find a position closer to the rail.
 
CENTRO SUPERIOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CURDLED – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: Babinda Electrics Lightning Open Quality H’cap – 950m 
 
DESERT COWBOY – Slow to begin.
 
SPACE TIME – Slow to begin.
 
HIDDEN IN HEAVEN – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
NATIONAL TRAIL – Tightened for room and lost its rightful running.
 
EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Had to be checked and relinquish its position leaving the 900m when tightened for room. Rider L. Tilley dropped his whip near the 300m.
OUR ATOM – Bumped shortly after the start and then was forced inwards, tightening runners to its inside leaving the 900m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
NO BITING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PLATINUM TYCOON – Rider S. Wilson was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that he failed to make sufficient effort to straighten his mount when shifting in leaving the 900m, tightening runners to its inside and causing EXCEEDINGLY KOOL  to be checked and NATIONAL TRAIL to lose their rightful running. Jockey Wilson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight 17/08/2019 and to expire at midnight 26/08/2019. 
 
Race 8: Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup Open H’cap – 2100m 
 
UNBIASED – At the request of its rider, the gelding was vetted and was declared a late scratching at 5.36pm on veterinary advice when found to be lame in its off front leg.  On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.
 
21 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
24 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
23 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
HARDERN – Slow to begin.
 
FOLLOW SUIT – Shifted out at the start, making contact with another runner.
 
VASSAL – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Shifted out near the 1000m to improve and raced wide from that point.
 
HOT SAGA – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
CYCLINE PATH – Began awkwardly.
 
CRIMSON HALO – Overraced in the early stages.
 
ASTORIA – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MISHANI VAIDRA – Shifted out leaving the 1000m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards. Following the disappointing performance today, trainer J. McConachy advised it was now his intention to send the horse for an immediate spell.
