Smith SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTFrom Townsville 19/09/2019 Trainer W. Kenning has advised stewards that after initially deciding to spell the gelding following its disappointing performance at Mackay on 27 August 2019, the horse has since pleased him since returning to his stables and as such has decided to monitor the horse’s progress and continue with its current preparation. ______________________ GENERAL As N. Day was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. As apprentice A. Thompson was unable to claim down to her nominated riding weight on Riverside Kitten (Race 1), Tapthetill (Race 4) and Hot Top (Race 6) she was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR143. Race 1: Tattersall’s QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1250M RIVERSIDE KITTEN – Began awkwardly. LUNCH WITH COOPS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. MT PETER MISS – Slow into stride, then lacked early pace. LOVE IS BLIND – Shifted wider in the home straight under pressure. Race 2: Century Cranes Sir Sydney Williams OBE Class 6 Plate – 950m NIC’S TIME – The start of this raced was delayed significantly when the horse broke through the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.30 pm by order of the stewards. In this incident a barrier attendant was injured and required ambulance attention and was subsequently transported to Cairns Base Hospital for further observation. All runners were ordered to back to the enclosure with this race rescheduled to run at 2.02 pm. All horses were closely monitored by 2 veterinarians and cleared to start. On the announcement of correct weight all bets made prior to 1.30 pm were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets Trainer R. Baker was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the horse before being permitted to race again. FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Slow to begin. DISTRICT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. RED HOT ROMEO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CHAPEL ROAD – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MBWALI – Threw its head in the air for a short distance near the 600m when being restrained to take a position closer to the rail. Following this event all races were put back 1 race time, with the exception of Race 8 which was rescheduled to run at 5.45 pm. Race 3: Cairns Amateurs Life Members Bracelet Class 3 Plate – 1250m SOLUMINATE – Slow to begin. LIEUTENANT DAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 700m when shifted out to improve. RANGERZANE – Raced wide in the middle stages. SPARKLY STAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: Cairns Post Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1250m TAPTHETILL – Slow to begin. PORTMAN – Slow to begin. SNOWY MOET – Began awkwardly. STRONG WILL – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and as a result raced wide. MISHANI REDMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: Yvonne Declacy Memorial Patron’s Cup Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1900m AGILITY – Declared a non-runner at 3.54 pm when the horse had its head in the over the dividing partition of the adjoining barrier when the start was effected and was unable to begin. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place7 cent in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets8 cent in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets ARMS RACE – Jumped inwards at the start, tightening runners to its inside. WHILE WE CAN – Jumped outwards as the start was effected, tightening runners to its outside. Momentarily crowded for room near the 250m by another runner which shifted in abruptly. JIMMY HOFFA – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. SUPER MARIO – Began awkwardly, then tightened for room between runners soon after the start. LANSALA – Slow to begin. Shifted in abruptly crowding runner to its inside near the 250m before being corrected. BARWON – Momentarily crowded near the 250m by another runner which shifted in abruptly. Race 6: TAB Class 1 H’cap 1500m START ME UP – Jumped inwards at the start, making contact with another runner to its inside, and then shifted out, making contact with a runner to its outside. Shifted wider leaving the 700m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards. FRED’S GIFT – Bumped by another runner on jumping. CANFORD TREE – Bumped by another runner on jumping. HOT TOP – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CLOUT – Made contact with the outside running rail leaving the enclosure. Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Shifted wider under pressure in the home straight, forcing another runner wider. Rider M. Elliott was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. NICK’S NIGHT OUT – Forced wider on the track in the straight by another runner, which continued to shift out. HONEST NATALIE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 7: Stella Artois Cairns Amateur Cup Open H’cap – 2100m FOLLOW SUIT – As B. Pengelly was unable to make the allotted weight, of 55 kilograms he was replaced by W. D’Avila. Jockey Pengelly was fined $100. CRIMSON HALO – Declared a late scratching at 5.10 pm by order of stewards when the horse made heavy contact with the outside running rail, injuring jockey P. Cullen’s right foot and was then unable to fulfil his engagement. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable: 1 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets1 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place2 cent in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets1 cent in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets Jockey P. Cullen was initially examined by the ambulance officers, but then advised he wished to drive himself home to obtain treatment from his doctor. ATOUCHMORE – AS S. Sheargold was unable to make the allotted weight, he was replaced by S. Wiseman. Raced wide for the majority of the race. STONE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelman advised stewards that the horse may not backed up from recent racing and it was now his intention to freshen the horse up. HOT SAGA – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. HARDERN – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. VASSAL – Slow to begin. Race 8: Ken Frost Homes Open H’cap – 1400m IMANUI – As S. Sheargold was unable to make the allotted weight of 54 kilograms he was replaced by F. Edwards. Jockey Sheargold was fined $200. Overraced in the early and middle stages. SCHERZOSO – Slow to begin. BOLD AVENUE – Slow to begin. POLAR BLAST – Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages, Restrained from heels near the 400m. DURIF – Hampered near the 1000m when another runner, which was overracing, shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race. WARWICK AVENUE – Raced ungenerously near the 1000m and shifted out, hampering another runner. SPACE TIME – Overraced in the middle stages. CONFRONTING – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MY GIULIANO – Was having it first run from a long break from racing, finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
