SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

QRIC Stewards today concluded an inquiry into a report, in that Irish Heart was alleged to have  suffered a bleeding attack following its run at Mount Garnet, 3/05/2019, Race 5 BM 60 – 1680M.

After stewards considered all evidence and further statements from trainer S. Potiris and jockey W. D’Avila, Mr Potiris was issued with a charge under AR79(2) and subsequently pleaded guilty in that he failed to report to stewards the presence of blood in the nostril area of Irish Heart following the race and was fined the sum of $1000.00. Mr Potiris, was further advised Irish Heart would incur the mandatory ban under AR79(4) (a) and (b). 
 
Mr D’Avila was issued with a charge under AR114(2)(a) and subsequently pleaded guilty in that he failed to  report to stewards the condition of Irish Heart of the presence of blood in the nostril area after being advised of that condition following the race and was fined the sum of $300.00.

Both Mr Potiris and Mr D’Avila were advised of their review rights.
 
GENERAL
 
As jockey J. Felix was not riding at today’s meeting due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 1: BETTER PROMO QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 950M
 
KODAI – Began awkwardly.
 
ORIENTAL GIRL – Shifted in approaching the 400m, crowding runners to its inside. Rider W. D’Avila was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
WOOHOO GIRL – Shifted in when crowded for room approaching the 400m, crowding another runner.
 
BONNEZONE – Steadied approaching the 400m when crowded for room by another runner which shifted in.
 
GREYSERENE – Began awkwardly.
 
RIVERSIDE KITTEN – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: ASTUTE FINANCIAL – DONNIE MARTIN OPEN H'CAP – 950M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed when Q. Krogh, the rider of 2nd placegetter DESERT COWBOY, wished to view the film to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against CHAPEL ROAD alleging interference near the 400m. After viewing the film jockey Krogh declined to proceed with an objection.
 
HIDDEN IN HEAVEN – Overraced in the middle stages for a short distance.
 
MEGA D’ORO Raced wide rounding the home turn. Rider F. Edwards was severely reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
DESERT COWBOY – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with another runner. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
CHAPEL ROAD – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide rounding the home turn, having a tendency to lay out.
 
Race 3: ORRCON STEEL MAIDEN PLATE – 950M
 
BUOYANCY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FINE ELSEWHERE – Slow to begin.
 
JACK DERIPPA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LAPELS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FYNIANT – Slow to begin. Tailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be sore in both forelegs. Trainer S. D’Avila was advised that she must furnish the results of x-rays and a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again. Ms D’Avila informed stewards that it was now her intention that the horse e retired from racing.
 
VAN GAAL – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: F J WIELAND RACING BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 950M
 
KEEN INSTINCT was declared a late scratching at 3:41 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice when found to be lame in the off foreleg. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on KEEN INSTINCT be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:41 pm:
 
2 cents in the dollar for the win #2
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
Trainer G. Horner was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
STARENA – Slow to begin.
 
DANCING DIVA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WATCH ME DAZZLE EM – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MIRACLES APLENTY – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and was slow to begin.
 
WILL HE TORQUE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ARNHEM BEAUTY – Momentarily held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 5: 1300 RIDE SHARE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1500M
 
THE GROVE – Declared a late scratching at 7:55 am by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. Trainer S. Massingham was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.  
 
WHILE WE CAN – Slow to begin.
 
IN KOBE – Shifted in near the 950m and again near the 500m, crowding another runner.
 
NICK’S NIGHT OUT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
VIVA LAS VEGAS – Crowded for room near the 950m and again near the 500m.
 
Race 6: VILLA ROMANA CLASS 3 PLATE – 1250M
 
HIGH DIVE – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly.
 
PRESIDENTIAL JOY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CUTHBERT GOLD – Slow to begin. Made the 1000m turn awkwardly.
 
POWER OF DIVAS – Began awkwardly. Made the 1000m turn awkwardly.
 
RUBY RED SOCKS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
INTENSE FOCUS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 7: BUGEJA EARTHMOVING OPEN H'CAP – 1400M
 
WARWICK AVENUE – Bumped by another runner which shifted in near the 300m.
 
PORTMAN – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner which was tiring near the 400m Shifted in near the 300m, bumping another runner.
 
BOLD KINGSTON – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
NO EFFORT NEEDED – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in when tiring near the 400m, bumping another runner.
 
MAKE AMENDS – Slow to begin. Shifted wider on the track to improve leaving the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
OAKFIELD AVENGER – Began awkwardly.
