RIGEL – Shifted out on jumping, inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Shifted away from another runner near the 900m, hampering a further runner to its outside. Continued to shift out, bumping another runner soon after. AMELIA’S RAINBOW – Inconvenienced on jumping. Hampered by another runner near the 900m, losing ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CAT STREET – Slowly into stride after being bumped by another runner soon after the start. BEAT IT – Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Was bumped by another runner passing the 900m. VIENNA SPIRIT – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MISSION ROAD – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Rider C. Jokic reported post race that the filly had been reluctant to stretch out in running. A post race veterinary examination revealed moderate muscle soreness, nasal discharge and a poor recovery rate. Trainer P. Rowe was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start. Race 2: Great Northern Brewing Co. Maiden Plate – 1250mGAME OF CIRCLES – Began very awkwardly. Jockey W. D’avilla was fined $100 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. KUMARI – Slowly away. ARTE ET MARTE – Bumped another runner soon after jumping. NOIR JACK – Slowly away. Inconvenienced when buffeted between runners soon after jumping. IL PRINCIPE – Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Jockey C. Whiteley was fined $100 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. GETOUT OF MY NEIGH – Raced wide for the majority of the race. BRANDS HATCH - Raced wide for the majority of the race. VULPES - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Jockey B. Thomson reported that the gelding got its tongue over the bit in running. Trainer D. Piccolo advised that he would consider implementing a gear change prior to its next race start.PRIVATE CLIENT – Race wide for the majority of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.Race 3: Brendan Grant Homes Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1500mMT PETER MISS – Began awkwardly. MY GIRL POPPY – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted in near the 1250m, hampering a runner to its inside. Jockey S. Kaya was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) – careless riding. Raced wide for the majority of the race. ROCCO – Raced ungenerously for a short distance after being hampered by another runner near the 1250m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. GROOVY PLAYMATE – Shifted wider near the 900m, racing wide from that point. TRIUMPH STAR – Bumped with another runner on straightening. AUSFIGHTER – Bumped with another runner on straightening. On return to scale was found to have bled from both nostrils. This being the 1st episode connections were advised that the horse would be banned from racing for a period of 3 months, and must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop before stewards. AS YAWOOD – Jockey G. Watson fined $100 for excessive use of his whip prior to the 100m.Race 4: Bugeja Earthmoving Open H’cap – 1500mARMS RACE - Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide for the majority of the race. SUPER MARIO – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. CENTRO SUPERIOR – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. BARWON – Raced wide for the majority of the race. LADY SKILLS – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey C. Whiteley was of the opinion that the mare may not have been suited to today’s soft track conditions and as a result only ground away at the finish. Jockey Whitely also added that, in his opinion, this was a stronger field than that which LADY SKILLS opposed at Townsville last start. Race 5: Underwood Party Hire Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1250mBOUGATSA - Fractious in the barriers. Was inconvenienced near the 750m. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the race. SWEET JUNE - Fractious in the barriers. Shifted in, bumping another runner near the 1000m. BATTLE – Slowly away.AMULETO – Slowly away. Hampered near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. BUOYANCY – Slowly away. Hampered near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CELESTIAL JEWEL – Bumped by another runner near the 1000m. Had to be restrained near the 950m when the pace slackened. MISS CELITA – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Lost nearside winker near the 900m. Shifted wider near the 950m, racing wide from that point. Had to be checked near the 800m, then, when racing ungenerously, shifted in, inconveniencing another runner. INDY SHOWGIRL – Raced ungenerously passing the 1000m.WRITTEN IMAGE – Had to be restrained off heels near the 950m when crossed by another runner when not fully clear.AT DUSK – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. When questioned into the improved performance, trainer Mr P. Rowe advised that the gelding had derived considerable fitness from its previous start over 1500m when it established a big lead before tiring in the home straight, and had pleased him in its work leading up to today’s race.BETTAHONEY – Shifted in near the 950m when not fully clear of runners to its inside. Jockey S. Wilson was severely reprimanded. Stewards intend to inquire into an incident which occurred near the 800m resulting in MISS CELITA (E. Cass) having to be checked and both BUOYANCY (W D’Avila) and AMULETO (G Watson) being hampered.Race 6: Tolly’s Signs Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1250mPARTY PIES – After proving difficult to load the gelding was extremely fractious in the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 3.30 pm. Subsequent to the event Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded in full with the following deductions applicable. 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets.Trainer S. Cooper who advised Stewards it is now the intention to retire the gelding from racing was nonetheless advised that should circumstances change a satisfactory trial would be required prior to its next race start. STYLE LINE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon pre-race on course and after arriving at the barriers and was cleared to start. The mare which had been loaded into an adjacent barrier to the fractious PARTY PIES hesitated as the start was effected and as a resut was very slow to begin. In consideration of the extenuating circumstances Stewards took no action against the mare on this occasion. SUNNY COWBOY – Slowly into stride after being inconvenienced by another runner after jumping. JAKOH – Slowly away. MAKARIOS – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and as a result shifted in, inconveniencing a further runner. YANKEE TANGO – Shifted out and away from another runner near the 950m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. HORORA VEL – Bumped with another runner soon after the start when shifting in under hard riding out of the barriers. Jockey F. Edwards, rider of HORORA VEL, was reprimanded. Stewards also reminded Jockey Edwards of his obligation to ride his mount to the finish of the race.CANDY GIRL – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide from the 850m. Bumped with another runner near the 650m. CORTESTA – Bumped by another runner near the 650m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MISTA MAYBE – Shifted wider near the 600m, racing wide from that point.As soon as all relevant parties are available Stewards intend to convene an inquiry an incident which took place in the barriers prior to the running of this event.Race 7: Mortgage Choice Cairns Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1250mTHE GROOM – Slowly away. Over raced in the early stages. Had to be restrained around heels near the 900m when another runner shifted in when not fully clear. HONEST NATALIE – Slowly away after being incovenienceded on jumping. ALL THAT SHE WANTS – Shifted out on jumping, inconveniencing another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Eased out of the race soon after straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a severe injury to the off foreleg. The mare was subsequently humanely euthanased. CROCODILE SHOES – Slowly after. Raced wide for the majority of the race. BUXTON – Shifted in near the 900m resulting in a runner which was following having to be restrained. App. E. Cass was severely reprimanded.SAXAPHONE – Overraced in the early stages. JEUX – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 8: Big Boyz Binz Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 950mCINNABARBOW - Was fractious in the barriers. Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. TRIGGER – Slowly away.CHEERS JOYCE – Bumped by another runner on jumping.SUJANI – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with another runner. Jockey B. Thomson advised Stewards that, in her opinion, the mare did not handle today’s soft track conditions. Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances which lead to SUNNY SAILOR (C. Jokic) and OCTOBER STORM (App. R. Shred) beginning from incorrect barriers. Race 9: Aon Risk Solutions Benchmark 69 H’cap – 950mHARD YAGA – Declared a late scratching at 11.25 am when the horse was found to be lame in the off foreleg.
