QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 5 JUNE 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – 5.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. GillardClerk of Scales – A. Holzhauser Judge – R. Ballard Veterinarian – Dr E. Maloney Swab Attendants – Dr E. Maloney Starter – P. Kennedy GENERAL: Jockey Amanda Thomson was incorrectly stated in form guides as a non-claiming apprentice for today’s meeting. Ms Thomson is now a senior jockey. This was relayed via course broadcast. Race 1: ADLLINS MEDIA MAIDEN PLATE – 1250 Metres STEPPING UP – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T. Rowe, for the late declaration of W. D’Avilla as the rider of the filly. GREYSERENE – Fractious in the barriers, bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. INTERROGATION – Raced four wide without cover until leaving the 800 metres and assuming the lead. SON DINGO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2:DOWNSY'S CARS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres HIGH ADVICE – Slow to begin. NARDA SHAR – Began awkwardly, shifted out bumping THE FRONTIER.THE FRONTIER – Bumped on jumping. Lost its off-hind plate during the race. Race 3 SMITHFIELD DENTAL CLASS B HANDICAP – 950 Metres OUR BOY BRETT – Slow to begin. ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Slow to begin. CUPID'S SON – Rider L. Morrison left foot slipped out of her stirrup iron leaving the 200 metres momentarily placing her at a disadvantage before quickly regaining it. Race 4: HIRE A HUBBY BAYVIEW OPEN HANDICAP – 950 Metres COASTAL BOY – Slow to begin. OUR CHIQUILLA – Slow to begin. Steadied when placed in restricted room between LABRUSCO and EXCEEDINGLY KOOL which shifted out when taking a narrow run approaching the winning post. A. Abe, rider of EXCEEDINGLY KOOL was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300 metres and was unable to obtain clear running until taking a narrow run approaching the winning post, when shifted out slightly placing OUR CHIQUILLA in restricted room. NATURAL PREDATOR – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/ FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1900 Metres YANKEE TANGO – Slow to begin. MT PETER MISS – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. WHITTERICK – Laid in for the majority of the race proving difficult to ride. Shifted in leaving the 500 metres despite the efforts if its rider tightening the running of HOT TOP which had to be restrained. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stable foreman R. Ryan was at a loss to explain todays run other than it had been nearly one month between runs and the gelding was stepping up to 1900 metres for today’s race. Mr Ryan gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to his attention in the near future, that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. Mr Ryan was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. HOT TOP – Tightened for room leaving the 500 metres and was restrained.
