GENERAL
 
Cairns 14 June 2021 – Class 2 H’Cap – 1250 Metres
 
WILD CHOICE – Trainer A. Bailey advised stewards that following the geldings last start it has undergone veterinary treatment for inflammation of the airway. Mr Bailey further advised WILD CHOICE has worked well in its lead up for a return to racing and gear changes have been made to further benefit the gelding.   
 
Race 1: AAB Equipment Pty Ltd QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap 950 metres
 
GALACTIC TREASURE – Underwent a veterinary examination on arriving at the barriers which revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore-leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 12.40pm. All monies invested on GALACTIC TREASURE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 12.40PM:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win FIRE KING
3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner FIRE KING
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place VIENNA CRUISE
 
Trainer T. Rowe was advised that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again.

ANNIEMARIAH – Bumped on hindquarters on jumping and became unbalanced. Lost its off fore plate during the race.

KEYS PLEASE – Bumped on jumping.

ETERNAL BEAN – Jumped inwards on jumping, bumping KEYS PLEASE and then shifted out bumping ANNIEMARIAH on the hindquarters.
 
VIENNA CRUISE – Began awkwardly.
 
RUSTIC ROCKER – Began awkwardly.
 
FIRE KING – Made the 700 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
Race 2: Kelly Hill - Cairns Property Office Maiden Handicap 950 metres
 
DEVILSPREDICTION – Slow to begin.
 
CHATILLY – Shifted out on jumping crowding VALIANT KNIGHT. Made the 700 metre crossing awkwardly. Forced wider near the 650 metres and shifted out becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of EMMA ROCKET.
 
EMMA ROCKET – Began awkwardly and shifted in crowding VALIANT KNIGHT. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
VALIANT KNIGHT – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. When questioned on todays performance rider C. Spry explained that after being tightened for room at the start the gelding raced further back than anticipated and may not have been suited with the drop back in distance as to its previous start. Trainer M. Whitehouse agreed with rider C. Spy’s comment. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.   
 
SUNSHINES – Hampered by CHATILLY which shifted out near the 650 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
OLINDO – Laid out near the 650 metres forcing CHATILLY wider.
 
Race 3: Big Boyz Binz BM65 Handicap 950 metres
 
EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Shifted out on jumping bumping PARIS IN MAY.
 
CADENCE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority of the race.
 
PARIS IN MAY – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. 
 
SYLVESTER – Shifted in slightly when over-racing near the the 500 metres crowding INSTITUTION.

INSTITUTION – Shifted in when crowded for room near the 500 metres brushing the running rail. 
 
LOUD NOISE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: Jayco Cairns QTIS Two-Years-Old and Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
 
SNAP CHAT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MANDO MOON – Shifted out on jumping tightening SAUNDERS SUN. Raced greenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the middle stages. 
 
SAUNDERS SUN – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room on jumping.  
 
MUZZLETOP – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide in the middle stages.

BETTER THAN THAT – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

SOUL SEARCHER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. 
 
Race 5: Bugeja Earthmoving BM70 Handicap 1250 metres
 
Stewards considered an objection lodged by rider M. Potgieter, the rider of BATTLE CRY which finished second against TOFF ROCKS (L. Morrison) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference over the concluding stages. It was established that BATTLE CRY shifted out slightly leaving the 200 metres and again leaving the 100 metres forcing TOFF ROCKS to shift wider, approaching the winning post TOFF ROCKS shifted in brushing BATTLE CRY and shortly after the winning post shifted in bumping BATTLE CRY. Stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
TENNESSEE BOY – Slow to begin.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
BATTLE CRY – Shifted in near the 1000 metres tightening runners to its inside. Brushed approaching the winning post. Laid out under pressure near the 200 metres and again near the 100 metres.  

COASTAL BOY – Checked when tightened for room near the 1000 metres. Apprentice rider M. Potgieter in the presence of senior rider R. Wiggins was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1000 metres he permitted BATTLE CRY to shift in bumping HI ZERO which in turn shifted in tightening the running of COASTAL BOY which was checked and lost its rightful running. M. Potgieter’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten days to commence midnight 7 August 2021 and to expire midnight 17 August 2021. M. Potgieter was advised of his right of review.          
 
HI ZERO – Restrained when bumped and tightened for room near the 1000 metres and shifted in tightening COASTAL BOY which was checked and lost ground. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 6: CCW Cabinet Works P/L OPEN Handicap 1500 metres
 
BUXTON – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground. Trainer S. D’Avila was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
DECROUX – Shifted in and away from TUTELAGE despite the efforts of its rider, tightening runners to its inside near the 1000 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Lost its off hind plate during running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its near hind lower leg.
 
MAQUEREAU – Tightened for room near the 1000 metres and was restrained and lost ground.

SOLDIERS (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. Forced inwards near the 1000 metres tightening the running of MAQUEREAU.
 
NOTIO – Rider R. Wiggins was questioned in regards to the gelding racing in a forward position today as to its previous runs. R. Wiggins explained that it was not his intention to race in a forward position however due to the lack of speed and other runners drop back in distance and being caught wide he elected to allow NOTIO to improve forward to gain a position closer to the inside rail. Trainer R. Miller agreed with R. Wiggins explanation and further advised that in view of the geldings performance today he would review the horses program going forward. Stewards noted their explanations.   
 
TUTELAGE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: Studio H By Helen BM60 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BULLET STORM – Slow to begin.
 
SHE'S NIC'N OFF – Slow to begin.
 
COLLOMBATTI – Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted in leaving the 100 metres bumping with VAN GAAL which shifted out.
 
VAN GAAL – Shifted out leaving the 100 metres bumping with COLLOMBATTI which shifted in.
 
NEBARAZ – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
TEMPO (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 8: Cooper Racing Class 1 Handicap 1250 metres
 
MUSICAL GIRL – Trainer S. D’Avila was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67(1) in that she failed to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Tightened for room on jumping.
 
INDIAN DANCER – Made contact with the running rail entering the course proper. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MALACHINI – Began awkwardly.
 
BELLE ADELE – Jumped inwards at the start tightening runners to its inside.
 
TODWICK – Tightened for room on jumping. Unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
DANNI'S RULER – Tightened for room on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the horses next start or barrier trial. 

PRINCE OF MOROCCO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ROADHOUSE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
