Kennedy SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Townsville Thursday 9 September 2021 RACE 8: PALLARENDA STAKES DAY 23 OCTOBER RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP – 1400m TEMPO – Rider S. Wilson pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner on the gelding, 16 times which is two strikes over what is permitted. After hearing all submissions jockey S. Wilson was fined the sum of $400.00. This was jockey Wilsons third breach of this rule. Mareeba Saturday 4 September 2021 Race 5: PIMS MAREEBA CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 2000 Metres SUNNY COWBOY – Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards that a subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an inflamed airway to which it was treated for and has been sent for a spell. Mr Rowe was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next barrier trial or race. GENERALDue to current Covid Restrictions, the following riders were permitted to ride their respective mounts 1 kilogram and .05 kilogram over the allotted minimum weight.Race 5, Poetic Attack – S. Sheargold +1Race 6, Ahri's Amore – S.Sheargold +.5Race 8, Bold Type – C. Whiteley +.5 Race 1: BILL BLAKENEY MEMORIAL QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 950 metres SPIRIT MEISTER – Trainer R. Miller was fined the sum of $100 in that he presented that gelding without it’s advertised racing gear of blinkers. Slow into stride. AVATEA –Began awkwardly. CHATEAU ROYALE – Bounded in the air upon jumping and lost ground. DREAM LUV – Shifted out at the start bumping STEPPING UP which shifted in. STEPPING UP – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping DREAM LUV which shifted out slightly. SANTA MARINELLA –Bumped near the 150 metres. ROTHGURL –Shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres and bumped SANTA MARINELLA.Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2: CAIRNS KEY REAL ESTATE Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres SHIFTY SHAMUS – Slow to begin. CANADIAN ROCKIES – Over raced in the middle stages. Race 3: UNDERWOOD PARTY HIRE Maiden Handicap 1250 metres HALF EVIL – Slow to begin. DAWN COLOURS – Had a tendency to over race in the middle stages and laid out rounding the 900 metre turn. SNAP CHAT – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 800 metres. Race 4: 4 TAB BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1250 metres DREAM I CAN – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. A short distance later, commenced to race fiercely and improved in-between runners approaching the 900 metres despite the efforts of its rider and was obliged to raced 3 wide for the remainder of the race. LOUD NOISE – Over raced in the early stages and was then forced wider near the 900 meters by DREAM I CAN which was racing fiercely and as such raced 4 wide for the majority of the race. BATTLE CRY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out. CHARLES SEVEN - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. CHARLES SEVEN shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4). Race 5: ELAINE PICCONE MEMORIAL GOVERNOR'S TROPHY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1500 metres ROCK SPUR – Slow into stride. COASTAL BOY – Over raced in the early and middle stages. LOVE EXPRESS – Shifted out to improve approaching the 150 metres brushing VISCOSITY.NZ). VISCOSITY (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Was brushed near the 150 metres. MODERNISM – When questioned into the performance rider S. Pawsey, explained the mare never travelled comfortably today and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 600 metres. Trainer M. Dale advised stewards he was unable to offer any tangible explanation as the mare had pleased him in its trackwork leading up to today’s race. M. Dale further advised he will further veterinary examinations conducted on the mare and advise stewards should anything be brought to his attention that may have a bearing on its performance today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 6: JACKIE CHANT & MARION LUCEY MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1250 metres INDY SHOWGIRL – As apprentice O. Webb was unable to claim down to her declared riding weight stewards allowed apprentice K. Swaffer to replace her. Stewards accepted Ms Webb’s explanation. Over raced in the early stages. SWAN CAP – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race for a short distance when being steadied leaving the 1000 metres. TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride out. Race 7: DOUGLAS FARQUHAR MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 950 metres BE FAMOUS – Slow to begin. Laid out for the majority of the race. ARROGANT HEART – Slow to begin. Shifted out near the 400 metres and bumped ROUGH CUT JEWEL which shifted out bumping DEEP VAIN. ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Bumped near the 400 metres. DEEP VAIN – Blundered entering the course proper, was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start. Hampered near the 400 metres when bumped by ROUGH CUT JEWEL. PARIS IN MAY – Raced wide for the majority of the race. SMALL REWARD – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Stewards considered an objection lodged by A. Butler the rider of DEEP VAIN which finished second against ROUGH CUT JEWEL (R. Wiggins) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference leaving the 400 metres and again near the 150 metres. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by DEEP VAIN did not exceed the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers. Race 8: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO OPEN Handicap 950 metres Correct weight was delayed when the second placegetter, N. Thomas (TEMPLE RUN) requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against the winner SPACE TIME (S. Pawsey) being declared first. After viewing the films, N. Thomas advised that he did not wish to proceed with the protest and correct weight was given on the judges semaphored numbers. TEMPLE RUN – Blundered shortly after the start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. DESERT COWBOY – Over-raced in the middle stages and was restrained off heels for a short distance. BOLD TYPE – Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for majority. SPACE TIME – Rider S. Pawsey was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip 15 times which is one more than is permitted.
