QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB CAIRNS - TUESDAY 7 DECEMBER 2021 WEATHER – OVERCAST/SHOWERY TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) RAIL – 2M 1400M – 320M, TRUE REMAINDER – (CUT AWAY RAIL IN USE) PENETROMETER – 4.98 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Gillard Stewards – P. Lane, D. Lane, S. Coulthard Clerk of Scales – A. HolzhauserJudge – B. Gray Veterinarian – Dr E. Maloney Swab Attendants – P. Charters Starter – P. Kennedy GENERALTrainer R. Miller, was reprimanded under the provisions of AR227(a) in that they he engaged a rider without confirmation that could have led to a breach of the rules. Jockey N. Thomas and D. Smith were reprimanded under the provisions of AR227(a) in that they accepted two rides in one race that could have led to a breach of the rules. As riders J. Felix – illness and S. Pawsey were not riding at today’s meeting they were replaced as per steward’s race-day summary. Jockey J. Felix was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions stewards permitted the following weight variations: Race 2: J. Stanley – 55.5kg (+ .05kg) – Nanna Knuckey Race 3: S. Sheargold – 55kg (+ 1kg) – LushanRace 6: J. Stanley – 55.5kg (+ .05kg) – Millaa Miss Race 1: QMAC MACHINERY CAIRNS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1500 Metres ROTH'N'BELL – Slow to begin. CASH RAIDER – Shifted out under riding near the 400 metres causing VOLTAIC to be checked. VOLTAIC – Checked near the 400 metres when tightened for room by CASH RAIDER which shifted out to improve. Jockey N. Day (CASH RAIDER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted that gelding to shift out under riding when not fully clear of VOLTAIC which was checked and lost ground. Jockey Day’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of (7) days to commence midnight 13 December 2021 and expire midnight 20 December 2021. In considering penalty stewards took into account jockey Day’s good record in regards to this rule and his guilty plea. Jockey Day was advised of his right to an internal review. Race 2: THE CROWN HOTEL Maiden Handicap 1250 Metres NANNA KNUCKEY – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and was retired from the race. Trainer M. Dale was advised the mare must trial to the steward’s satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again. DIVINE MELODY – Began awkwardly.Inconveniencednear the 700 metres when HOLY FORCEbrushed the running rail. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight and shifted in near the 100 metres crowding ROLL THE BEANS. HOLY FORCE – When racing in restricted room near the 700 metres shifted in brushing the running rail becoming awkward in its action and being checked and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to its off-hind leg.ROLL THE BEANS – Inconveniencednear the 700 metres when HOLY FORCEbrushed the running rail. Crowded for room near the 100 metres.WHISPERING MOSS – Inconveniencednear the 700 metres when HOLY FORCEbrushed the running rail. SUNNY EKCELS – Raced wide in the early stages. MAGNATE – Raced wide in the early stages. Race 3: NIESAR PAINTING PTY LTD OPEN Handicap 1250 Metres SILENT EXPLORER – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. DREAM I CAN – Over-raced in the early stages. LUSHAN – Raced fiercely for a short distance when being crossed by TYCOON THUNDER near the 1000 metres. TYCOON THUNDER – Rider F. Edwards was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip over the concluding stages. Race 4: MARTY ON CAIRNS FM 89.1 QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 950 Metres CANADIAN COMET – Slow to begin. FAST GIRL – Slow to begin. GALACTIC TREASURE – Slow to begin.PANGU DYNASTY – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout.ILL GOTTEN GAIN –Raced greenly throughout. KURANDA – Rider W. D’Avila was accidently struck by the whip of another rider on two occasions leaving the 300 metres.BEAN WARRIOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: HIGGINS COATINGS Class 3 Plate 950 Metres JUSTWINS – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. CALL ME MAGGIE – Bumped on jumping and again bumped shortly after the start.Raced wide for the majority of the race. COURTING SARA – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping CALL ME MAGGIE. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MAMMA DON'T DANCE – Shifted in soon after the start bumping CALL ME MAGGIE. VIENNA SPIRIT –Raced wide for the majority of the race. LIVELY LASS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 6: DONNIE MARTIN - ASTUTE FINANCIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1250 Metres TOFF ROCKS – Laid in for a short distance near the 1000 metres and again laid in under pressure near the 200 metres. SOLOMON – Over-raced in the middle stages. JOURNEY OF SONG – Disappointed for a run near the 200 metres having to be restrained and shift wider.DUBAI EAGLE – Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post. ARAWELO – Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post crowding DUBAI EAGLE. Jockey S. Wilson was advised to exercise greater care.
