Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Following the running of this race, rider F. Edwards was stood down by the QAS officers. F. Edwards was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. Race 2: DAVID GALLOWAY-PENNEY - CHAMPIONS IN REAL ESTATE OPEN Handicap 950 metres DELUXE ROCKER – Jumped inwards at the start bumping COASTAL BOY. CHEVAUX – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.COASTAL BOY – Bumped on jumping. EL OF A SAGA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. DESERT COWBOY – When questioned regarding the tactics today rider K. Swaffer advised her instructions were to urge the gelding out of the barriers as it can be slow into stride but it was not her intention to lead, however DESERT COWBOY began very well and travelled comfortably in that position. Trainer T. Rowe confirmed the instructions. Race 3: CBIS INSURANCE BROKERS Maiden Handicap 950 metres CHATEAU ROYALE – Delayed the start when got its off-hind leg up on the barrier running board. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to its near side gum. SUNNY EKCELS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground almost dislodging jockey L. McCoy. Trainer L. McCormack was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. PANGU DYNASTY – Slow to begin. DIVINE MELODY – Slow to begin. MASTER ORR – Shifted in near the 500 metres crowding SUMMER OF GLORY. Rider N. Yadi was advised to show more care when shifting ground. Hung out over the concluding stages shifting wider on the track. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M. dale was advised a warning would be placed on racing manners.SUMMER OF GLORY – Had a tendency to lay out near the 500 metres and was steadied when crowded for room by MASTER ORR which shifted in. SWEET WILL GO – When questioned into todays performance rider N. Day stated the mare which was having its first start from a spell never travelled comfortably throughout and failed to stretch out over the concluding stages.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the near side if its head. Race 4: ADLLINS MEDIA QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1250 metres BOOMED – After being slow to begin was then crowded for room and bumped by MUZZLETOP which shifted in and lost ground. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 900 metres. KURANDA – Slow to begin.MUZZLETOP – Shifted in soon after the start bumping BOOMED. KING JESTER – Shifted in soon after the start crowding KURANDA. BEAN WARRIOR –Crowded for room shortly after the start.ANNIEMARIAH – When questioned into its performance today rider R. McMahon stated the filly made the 700 metre crossing awkwardly and further that it was not entirely comfortable in the heavy track conditions. Race 5: TOP TAX ONLINE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1250 metres WIDESPREAD – As F. Edwards was unable to fulfil the engagement, he was replaced by jockey W. D’Avila. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race. LUSHAN – Began awkwardly. Shifted in near the 1100 metres tightening SOLOMON. Rider M. Potgieterwas reprimanded and advised show greater care when shifting ground. SOLOMON – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground. Steadied near the 1100 metres when tightened for room by LUSHAN which shifted in. SET TO SIZZLE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and as result raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres SMARTY LEE – Slow to begin. FIRST SLIP – Slow to begin.BOUGATSA – Began awkwardly.BRAVIO – Slow to begin.ROSE OF ATHENS – Shifted in near the 1200 metres tightening runners to his inside.Jockey M. Abe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1200m metres he permitted ROSE OF ATHENS to shift in when not fully clear of GRACEFUL ZARIFA (L. Morrison) which shifted when being restrained, tightening the running of STELLAR (App K. Swaffer) causing that runner to be checked. Jockey M. Abe’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of (8) days to commence midnight 4/02/2022 and expire midnight 12/02/2022. Stewards took into accounts jockey Abe’s recent record and guilty plea. Lost its off hind plate in running. STELLAR – Checked near the 1200 metres. GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Restrained near the 1200 metres. Race 7: CAIRNS MINIBUS TRANSFERS Class 3 Plate 950 metres AMELIA'S RAINBOW – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of jockey F. Edwards, who was then replaced S. Sheargold. Began very awkwardly and shifted in forcing BILBAO in, bumping CADENCE. ALI'S JAB – The start was delayed after becoming fractious in the barriers just prior to the start, underwent a veterinary examination was found to lame in thenar fore leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.11pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on ALI’S JAB were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 5:11PM. Rider W. D’Avila was transported to Cairns base Hospital for further observation. Trainer M. dale was advise a veterinary certificate soundness must be provided prior to its next start and he must provide a further barrier certificate. 34 cents in the dollar for the win BIG FLASH 27 cents in the dollar for the place of winner BIG FLASH 21 cents in the dollar for 2nd place ENDORSE 27 cents in the dollar for 3rd place MACEDON FLYER CADENCE – Bumped on jumping.BIG FLASH – Slow to begin. BILBAO – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of jockey C. Jokic. Hampered on jumping. MACEDON FLYER – Over-raced in the early stages. Race 8: BETTER PROMO RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1250 metres Due to a long delay with the ambulance treating jockey A. D’Avila , the start of this race was delayed to start at 6.15pm. HIGH ADVICE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Restrained when racing in restricted approaching the home turn. MY ZEBRINKA – Raced wide leaving the 700 metres. Toff Rocks – Raced wide for the majority of the race. RYANO – Inconvenienced when tightened for room near the 1150 metres. MUSICAL GIRL – Shifted in near the 1150 metres when racing ungenerously inconveniencing RYANO. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 800 metres.
