Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the conduct of stablehand Bodine Bailey prior to the running of Race 5 to a time and date to be advised.   
 
Race 1: CANCER COUNCIL QLD OPEN Handicap 950 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed significantly due to the late arrival of the ambulance arriving on course.   
 
DUNATUN – Was examined behind the barriers prior to the start after making contact with the enclosure gate on entering the course proper and was cleared to start. 
 
YOU MAKE ME SMILE – Slow to begin.
 
LOVE IS BLIND – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
BOLD TYPE – Put its head to the offside just prior to the start and lost ground. Laid in near the 500 metres. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

SET TO SIZZLE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Due to the delay of this race, races 2, 3, 4 and 5 were rescheduled to start at:
Race 2 – 12.20pm, Race 3 – 12.54pm, Race 4 – 1.29pm and Race 5 – 2.01pm
 
Race 2: LINDON REED MORTGAGE CHOICE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 950 Metres
 
FORSETI – Slow to begin.
 
CAPTIVATED – Put its head to the offside just prior to the start and lost ground.
 
FLUTTERING – Threw its head in the air on jumping and lost ground.
 
INVESTOR – Began awkwardly. Shifted in leaving the 700 metres making the crossing awkwardly, tightening the running of NANTUCKET and SUNNY ECKELS which both had to be checked. INVESTOR then commenced to over-race having to restrained off heels for some distance.   
 
NANTUCKET – Tightened for room near the 700 metres and was checked. Had difficulties obtaining clear running over the concluding stages and was steadied.
 
SUNNY EKCELS – Tightened for room near the 700 metres and was checked. Momentarily had difficulties obtaining clear running near the 150 metres.  
 
REACHFORTHESTARS – Raced three wide rounding the home turn. Connections advised after returning to its stable the mare had soreness to its offside knee. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to its next race start or trial.   
 
Race 3: STUDIO H MM/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap – 1900 Metres
 
STAR INES – Slow to begin.
 
COASTAL BOY – Apprentice J. Edwards was examined by the QAS following the race and was stood down having injured her right ankle. Ms Edwards was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.Ms Edwards was replaced on her following rides as per the steward’s summary.

LOVE FLIES – Laid in passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider tightening the running of SUPER ROSE.A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 400 metres.
 
CHOMPERS – Momentarily crowded for room on the turn out of the straight on the first occasion by LIGHTEMUP JERRY which shifted in.
SUPER ROSE – Tightened for room passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted in making contact with the running rail. Shifted out near the 400 metres tightening the running of CRAIGLEA SIMMO which had to be restrained and lost ground.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of CRAIGLEA SIMMO which finished 3RD against SUPER ROSE (J. Baker) being declared 2nd on the grounds of interference leaving the 400 metres. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by CRAIGLEA SIMMO exceeded the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:
1ST – CITY SMART, 2nd – CRAIGLEA SIMMO, 3rd – SUPER ROSE, 4th CHOMPERS
 
Race 4: CAIRNS DELIVERIES QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 950 Metres
 
TO BOOGIE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and was slow to begin.
 
SOUL SURFER – Slow to begin.
 
ALEXANDRA MARGARET – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be shin sore with general soreness in both font fetlocks. Stable representative P. Rowe was advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to its next race start or trial.
 
DOMINATE ROSE – Over-raced in the early stages.   
 
HEROIC ROSE – Laid in near the 400 metres and was steadied.
 
GO GETABOY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: LUCAS WAINMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 950 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when DENISE’S PRIDE required resaddling prior to leaving the tie up stall.
 
TEMPS DU LOUVRE – As apprentice J. Edwards was indisposed and no other claiming apprentice was available jockey N. Day was permitted to fulfil the riding engagement. Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced.A post-race veterinary examination of the filly identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. TEMP DU LOUVRE shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)
 
GENTLEMAN REID – Slow to begin. Made the 700-metre crossing awkwardly.
 
SCAMDEMIC – Slow to begin.Connections advised after returning to its stable the gelding had soreness to its offside knee. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to its next race start or trial.
 
ENDINAYE – Began very awkwardly. Hampered near the 550 metres.Raced wide rounding the home turn.  
 
TAKEN BY THEFT – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping TEMPS DU LOUVRE on the hind quarters. Race wide rounding the home turn.
 
TOP CEEDEE – Tightened for room at the start.  
 
DENISE'S PRIDE – Shifted in at the start bumping WITTSTOCK.
 
KENMORE SPIRIT – Tightened for room at the start.
 
WITTSTOCK – Shifted out on jumping bumping with DENISE’S PRIDE.Over-raced in the middle stages and shifted out near the 550 metres and again near the 400 metres bumping BELLA’S COMMAND.Rider S. Wilson advised on returning to scale he was of the opinion the gelding got its tongue over the bit during running. Trainer P. Rowe advised he would experiment with gear changes prior to its next race start.

BELLA'S IN COMMAND – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside. Bumped near the 550 metres and shifted out bumping FAST GIRL and again near the 400 metres. Raced greenly in the middle stages.
 
FAST GIRL – Bumped on the hind quarters near the 550 metres becoming unbalanced and shifted out hampering ENDINAYE and again near the 400 metres was bumped. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 6: BRIONY'S BIG DAY OUT Maiden Handicap 1250 Metres
 
MIDNIGHT RAIDER – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

PROMISE BAY – Brushed on jumping.
 
LITTLE RED PEPPER – Slow to begin. Over-raced for a short distance after being crossed and inconvenienced by COUNT THE BEERS shortly after the start and was restrained. P. Romeo, rider of COUNT THE BEERS was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.  
 
SLIPPERY SLIME – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CHATEAU ROYALE – Shifted in at the start brushing PROMISE BAY.
 
COUNT THE BEERS – Shifted in shortly after the start inconveniencing LITTLE RED PEPPERS.
 
REDENZO ROMAN – Shifted in approaching the 700-metre crossing, clipped heels and blundered.
 
KIM ALICIA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
NANNA KNUCKEY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a laceration to its near hind leg consistent with being galloped on.Trainer M. Dale was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to its next start or trial.

Race 7: KERRIE HOFFMANN MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap1500 Metres
 
PANIAGUA – Tightened for room at the start. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 900 metres.
 
BATTLE CRY – Shifted in at the start tightening runners to its inside. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GAELIC – Shifted in at the start bumping OWN SWEET WAY.Shifted in leaving the 1400 metres brushing the running rail. Momentarily held up in the early part of the home straight
 
ROBIG – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.
 
OWN SWEET WAY (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Rider reported the gelding became awkward in its action for a short distance near the 900 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SOUTHERN SWING – Tightened for room on jumping.

SALESMAN – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: RED ROOSTER RAINTREES & MT SHERIDAN BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1500 Metres
 
NORAH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BORN TO SUCCEED – Tightened for room on jumping.

CANADIAN COMET – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.
 
HOT TOP – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start, bounded in the air and lost ground. Retired from the race approaching the 200 metres after becoming awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examinationrevealed the gelding to have injured its off fore tendon. Trainer F. Wieland was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness must be provided prior to its next race start or trial.
 
LINCOLN FURY – Bounded in the air on jumping and was then tightened for room.
 
AVATEA – Over-raced in the early stages. Crowded for room approaching the winning post.

FEMALE OFFICER – Raced fiercely approaching the 1000 metres and shifted wider. Raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
LET'S CONQUER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUNSHINES – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
VULPES – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

OWNED UP – Shifted in on its own accord passing the winning post making contact with the running rail.
 
Race 9: F J WIELAND RACING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
ROTH’N’BELL – Slow to begin.
 
STAR STATUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BIG FLASH – Bumped near the 1150 metres and shifted in slightly.
 
LUSHAN – Raced in restricted room near the 1150 metres and clipped the heels of CUNNAMULLA and blundered. Shifted in near the 1000 metres brushing the running rail.
 
MODERNISM – Shifted in bumping BIG FLASH approaching the 1150 metres.Rider J. Stanley was advised to show greater care. – Forced wider near the 150 metres.
 
RIGEL – Shifted in near the 1000 metres brushing the running rail.Shifted out under pressure near the 150 metres forcing other runners wider. Rider N. Day was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
STIFLING – Forced wider near the 150 metres.
 
CUNNAMULLA – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping LUSHAN. Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and shifted out marginally near 1100 metres. Rider C. Collis was advised to show greater care. Commenced to over-race for as short distance near the 1000 metres.
 
Correct weight was delayed when the second placegetter, Jockey R. Wiggins (STIFLING) and trainer A. Bailey requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against the first placegetter RIGEL (N. Day). After viewing the films, jockey R. Wiggins and trainer A. Bailey advised that he did not wish to proceed with the protest.
 
Race 10: ZARRAFFA'S COFFEE SHOWGROUND AND EDMONTON RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
HIGH ADVICE – As jockey F. Edwards was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by jockey P. Romeo.
 
LICKETY LACHIE – Slow to begin.
 
BELLE ADELE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ROSE OF ATHENS – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
VIENNA CRUISE – Improved onto the heels of JUSTWINS which was racing ungenerously near the 500 metres and when being restrained shifted out marginally resulting in OCTOBER STORM clipping its heels and blunder causing rider B. Thomson to become unbalanced. 
 
OCTOBER STORM – Shifted in marginally and clipped the heels of VIENNA CRUISE which shifted out marginally when being restrained from heels near the 500 metres causing rider B. Thomson to become unbalanced.
 
JUSTWINS – Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race and shifted wider near the 900 metres. Trainer J. Kilroy was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
SIZZLING SUN – Lost its near fore plate during running.
