Kennedy SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTTownsville 13 October 2022 – Race 6 – BROWN BROTHERS Class 6 Plate 1000 Metres Jockey R. Wiggins was interviewed by stewards in relation to the use of his whip prior to the 100 metres as the rider of MATTERHORN(NZ). After hearing evidence and further viewing of the race film stewards could not be totally satisfied with the standard proof and took no direct action. GENERALCairns 18.10.2022 – Permitted Overweight’s R4 No 5 M. Abe + 1kg R6 No 7 S. Sheargold + .50kg Race 1: PARAMOUNT LIQUOR QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 875 Metres AMBER'S POWER – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn when tended to lay out. SUNNY LASS – Shifted out at the start bumping AMBER’S SHADOW. LE MANCER – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 2: T ROWE RACING OPEN Handicap 875 Metres HARD YAGA – Slow to begin. EL SHADAY (NZ) – Shifted in at the start tightening MY BEST EFFORT. DESERT COWBOY – Shifted out at the start tightening MY BEST EFFORT. Shifted in near the 700 metres crowding BOLD TYPE. Rider L. Morrison was advised to show more care.Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 350 metres bumping with SPLASHER. MY BEST EFFORT – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. BOLD TYPE – Momentarily steadied near the 700 metres when crowded for room by DESERT COWBOY which shifted in. SPLASHER – Bumped near the 350 metres by DESERT COWBOY which shifted out.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery however quickly recovered to veterinary treatment. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Race 3: KERBING N.Q. PTY LTD BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 875 Metres MY BOY MISCHKE – As the gelding had not started for a long period of time it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Turned its head to the near side as the start was effected and lost ground. BAY OF BENGAL – Began awkwardly, raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. EXPLOSIVE GIRL – Began awkwardly. ZA ZA READY – Raced ungenerously for short distance near the 500 metres. TRIGGER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery however responded well to veterinary treatment. Trainer A. Bailey was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. HERO'S CHOICE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the outside of its off-front fetlock.Trainer K. Russell was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Race 4: SMITHFIELD DENTAL Maiden Handicap 1250 Metres ST MORITZ – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running near the 300 metres and again near the 100 metres. LA FORTUNA – Shifted out on jumping, bumping heavily with ALITA and lost ground. ALITA – Shifted in on jumping, bumped heavily with LA FORTUNA, became unbalanced and lost ground. CRAIGLEA CLIO – Slow to begin. CODY'S BOY – Over-raced in the early stages. MILLVALE – Restrained near the 150 metres when tightened for room. Rider R. Wiggins advised stewards the gelding felt awkward in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its offside hind leg. Trainer S. Massingham was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Mr Massingham further advised it is now intention that the gelding be sent for an immediate spell. FINE IMPACT – Shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres when not fully clear of MILLVALE which was restrained. Jockey J. Taylor was severely reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straiten his mounts in similar circumstances. Race 5: NULEAF BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1250 Metres TAKEN BY THEFT – The start was delayed when the mare which was found to be heavily in season became fractious in the barriers prior to the start and escaped without its bridle, galloping some distance and was declared a late scratching at 3.30pm by order of stewards. All monies invested on TAKEN BY THEFT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.30PM. 17 cents in the dollar for the win NEVER CRY19 cents in the dollar for the place of winner NEVER CRY 12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place INDICTMENT 19 cents in the dollar for 3rd place INVESTOR Trainer R. Miller was advised that the must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Mr Miller further advised it is now his intention that the mare be sent for an immediate spell. FINAL WARNING – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. BREAK MY STRIDE – Laid out shortly after the start tightening runners to its outside.Raced ungenerously in the early stages. BIG FLASH – Tightened for room shortly after the start and shifted out bumping ROUGH CUT JEWEL which became unbalanced. ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Threw its head in the air when being restrained near the 1000 metres. As the start was significantly delayed, Race 6 was rescheduled to start at 4.20pm and Race 7 to be run at 4.45pm. Race 6: REECE PLUMBING Class 2 Handicap 1250 Metres DREAMLINE –Trainer F. Wieland was severely reprimanded in that he failed to comply with a steward’s directive and apply for permitted overweight for the mare by the appropriate time. DAY TO FAVOUR – Slow to begin. NEVER CRY – Inconvenienced near the 600 metres and lost ground.CAPTIVATED – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. STRONACH – Raced in restricted room near the 600 metres and was restrained. PROPHETESS – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out slightly near the 600 metres placing STRONACH in restricted room which was restrained. Rider I. Teh was advised to show greater care. ZAKHEERA – Raced wide for the majority of the race. BONYTHON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hind leg. Trainer S. Hoffman was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Race 7: ASTUTE GI PTY LTD - REBECCA CONLAN BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 Metres LICONA – Slow to begin. GAIUS JULIUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Was inconvenienced near the 250 metres when awkwardly placed between runners. PUPPETEER – Buffeted between runners passing the 1000 metres. SPIRIT MEISTER – When over-racing near the 350 metres shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMELIA’S RAINBOW tightening the running of VULPES which had to be restrained. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. VULPES – Inconvenienced near the 350 metres and lost ground. KIM ALICIA – Trainer reported the mare may have got its tongue over the bit during running and he would experiment with a gear change prior to its next race start.
