Race 1: Man Overboard Cairns and Port Douglas Maiden Handicap
950 metres
 
GLORIOUS EXPRESS – As the gelding had not raced for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200 metres before being corrected near the 100 metres, continued to lay out under pressure for the remainder of the race.
 
CHILLI CREAM – The start was delayed when the filly refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 1.36pm. All monies invested on CHILLI CREAM were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.36pm:

2 x cents in the dollar for the place of winner GLORIOUS EXPRESS
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place WONG WAY

Trainers T & P Rowe were advised they must obtain a further barrier certificate for the filly prior to it being permitted to race again.  
 
WONG WAY – Slow to begin.
 
RIGHT ON RALPHY – Slow to begin.
 
WAKE UP SOO – Slow to begin.
 
BALLROOM BOSS – Laid in under pressure near the 100 metres.
 
Race 2: Status Signs QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
 
SUNNY LASS – Slow to begin.
 
MINIEST – Slow to begin.
 
CODY'S BOY – Began awkwardly and raced ungenerously in the early stages. Rider dropped his whip leaving the 100 metres.
 
TO BOOGIE – Jumped outwards at the start. Restrained and lost ground near the 950 metres when crowded for room by SIMPLY BEANS and was reluctant to hold its position.

NUCLEAR GIRL – Shifted out at the start bumping HEARTSAREROMAN.

HEARTSAREROMAN – Bumped on the hindquarters soon after the start and became unbalanced. Lost its off-fore plate during the race.   
 
SIMPLY BEANS – Shifted in near the 950 metres when proving difficult to ride.   
 
POCKET FUGITIVE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 3: 1300 Ride Share Class 6 Handicap 1500 metres
 
LIGHTEMUP JERRY – Shifted out at the start bumping with INVESTOR and became unbalanced.  
 
INVESTOR – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Laid in, in the early stages. When questioned in regard to the tactics adopted today apprentice I. Teh advised that due to the horses racing manners and being caught wide she elected to allow the gelding to improve forward in an effort to avoid tightening runners to its inside. Stewards accepted her explanation.
 
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 4:RNR AIR- Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Class 1 Plate 1400 metres
 
KOHEETO – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.
 
MEMBERS ONLY – Tightened for room at the start.

ALITA – Began awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with its inside barrier gate.

DEECATH – Tightened for room at the start.
 
KIM ALICIA – Tightened for room at the start. Became unbalanced when bumped heavily leaving the 300 metres by DON’T DOUBT HINCHI which shifted out in an attempt to gain clear running.
 
DON'T DOUBT HINCHI – Shifted out in an attempt to gain a run between VOODOO MISS and KIM ALICIA, leaving the 300 metres and was disappointed having to be checked and became awkwardly placed at the heels of VOODOO MISS which shifted out.Rider N. Day was severely  reprimanded and advised to show greater care when attempting runs.
 
VOODOO MISS – Shifted out on its own accord leaving the 300 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to its near hind leg consistent with having been galloped on in running.   
 
Race 5:Future Computers Class 3 Plate 1250 metres  
 
VISCOSITY (NZ) – As the gelding had not raced for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Crowded for room near the 950 metres.
 
SMARTY LEE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
ZAKHEERA – Slow to begin. Shifted to the outside of ARISE MY SON near the 100 metres and was hampered when that runner shifted out marginally.
 
MA MA'S ROSE – Slow into stride.
 
ON THE TILES – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ARISE MY SON – Crowded for room near the 950 metres. Shifted out marginally under pressure near the 100 metres hampering ZAKHEERA.
 
VULPES – Shifted in near the 950 metres crowding runners to its inside. Rider B. Thomson was advised to show more care.Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6:Tolly’s Signs Class 2 Handicap 950 metres
 
BASTILLE DAY – Whilst stewards noted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of rider trainer N. Coves was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67(1).Slow to begin. Hampered near the 400 metres by FILLY SLATER which laid out.
 
I LOVE ROCK'N'ROLL – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at barriers after making contact with the enclosure gate when entering the course proper and was cleared to start.

WHEY MISCHIEF – Kicked by another runner behind the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 4.43pm after being found to be lame in the near hind leg. All monies invested on WHEY MISCHIIEF were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.43pm:

SMART IMAGE – Tightened for room on jumping. Over-raced in the middle stages when racing in restricted room.
 
OUR CHIQUILLA – Tightened for room on jumping.
 
BIG FLASH – Slow to begin.Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
SOLOMON – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
SARANDOS – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.
 
MT PETER MISS – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer A. Bailey was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
CALL ME MO – After being slow to begin was buffeted between runners shortly after the start.
 
ELITE STANDARD – Was reluctant to race inside runners in the middle stages.
