Wiggins (Glorious Express) + 1kgR7 C. Whiteley (October Storm) + .50kg Race 1: ELDERS REAL ESTATE MALANDA Maiden Plate 1250 Metres TO BOOGIE – Began awkwardly causing jockey N. Day to become unbalanced and shifted out bumping CLASSIC CHANCE. Steadied off heels approach the 900 metres when the pace slackened.Restrained off heels passing the winning post. CLASSIC CHANCE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. SEA STITCH – Restrained off heels when the pace slackened near the 900 metres.Laid out under pressure in the home straight. WONG WAY – After obtaining the lead near the 900 metres was steadied and in doing so hampered runner following. Apprentice I. Teh was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. EYE OF RA – Tendency to over-race in the early stages and shifted wider leaving the 800 metres. ACCTORIES – Shifted out passing the winning post inconveniencing TO BOOGIE. Rider R. Wiggins was advised to show greater care. HALF EVIL – Momentarily shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.Race 2: JAYCO CAIRNS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1250 Metres VISCOSITY (NZ) – Delayed the start when reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Reared on jumping and lost ground. Trainer S. Massingham was advised the gelding must trial to the steward’s satisfaction before being permitted to race again. ON THE TILES – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. NEVER CRY – Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race for a short distance leaving the 1000 metres. OUR CHIQUILLA – Over-raced in the early stages. YOSHI TORANAGA – Over-raced in the early stages. Race 3: 3 HIGGINS COATINGS PTY LTD QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1250 Metres FODOR – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers at the request of its rider and was cleared to start.Slow to begin. POCKET FUGITIVE – Saddle shifted back on jumping resulting in the filly losing significant ground. WAKE UP SOO – Raced erratically near the 700 metres and lost ground. Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight. Trainers T & P Rowe advised they would experiment with a gear change prior to its next start however were advised a warning would be placed on its racing manners. Race 4: TOMMY GIUDICE MEMORIAL Class 6 Plate 950 Metres LILLY OF THE GLEN – Connections advisedthe mare underwent corrective throat surgery following its most recent start. This was broadcast via media outlet. ACTON SHALE – Declared a late scratching at 2.36pm on veterinary advice when fractious in the tie up stalls. As no betting had commenced on course no deductions were applicable.NEBARAZ – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer S. Massingham was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Race 5: KELLY HILL - CAIRNS PROPERTY OFFICE OPEN Handicap1400 Metres LOVE EXPRESS – Began awkwardly and shifted out hampering LOVE ON SUNDAY which was slow to begin.Restrained off heels nears the 950 metres. MODERNISM – Slow to begin. LOVE ON SUNDAY – Slow to begin. Laid in near the 300 metres. When questioned into the gelding’s performance today jockey N. Day advised stewards it never travelled comfortably throughout the race and was disappointing in his opinion. Trainer A. Malliff advised stewards advised stewards following today’s effort it will be his intentions that the gelding is sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 6: ZENBOOK RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1400 Metres TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. FEMALE OFFICER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. MODERN LEGEND – Crowded for room shortly after the start and steadied. ARISE MY SON – Placed in restricted room near the 1200 metres. Disappointed for run between PICTON and ROUGH CUT JEWEL near the 200 metres before shifting back to the inside. PICTON – Shifted in a short distance after the start crowding MODERN LEGEND. Continued to shift in when over-racing placing ARISE MY SON in restricted room near the 1200 metres before being corrected, tightening the running of LITTLE RED PEPPER which had to be restrained. MA MA’S ROSE which was following was also inconvenienced. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of PICTON, Jockey N. Day was nonetheless reprimanded and advised that stewards would expect a greater effort of a jockey of his experience in similar circumstances. When questioned into the tactics today, jockey N. Day advised stewards his instructions were to ride the gelding off the speed however, after beginning well which caught him by surprise, PICTION began to over-race and instead of wrestling and being caught wide he elected to allow the gelding to improve forward. Trainer S. Bush confirmed those instructions. Stewards noted the explanations. LITTLE RED PEPPER – Restrained near the 1200 metres. MA MA'S ROSE – Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres. Race 7: CAREY GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 950 Metres SOGNI – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Checked near the 500 metres to avoid the heels of ELITE STANDARD which lost ground and shifted out forcing GLORIOUS EXPRESS which in turn shifted out bumping JOURNEY OF SONG. Laid in near the 350 metres crowding ELITE STANDARD. OCTOBER STORM – Shifted out at the start tightening DREAMLINE. DREAMLINE – Tightened for room on jumping.STRATHCONA – Shifted in at the start tightening DREAMLINE. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. JOURNEY OF SONG – Bumped near the 500 metres. Brushed near the 150 metres. ELITE STANDARD – Lost ground on its own accord near the 500 metres. Crowded for room near the 350 metres by SOGNI which laid in.GLORIOUS EXPRESS – Slow to begin. Forced outwards near the 500 metres bumping JOURNEY OF SONG. Shifted out near the 150 metres brushing JOURNEY OF SONG. Race 8: CORAL COAST CATERING Class 1 Handicap 1250 Metres ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF – As F. Edwards waws not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by non-claiming apprentice R. Shred.Raced wide for the majority. BROADWATER – Shifted out at the start bumping VELOURS BLEU. VELOURS BLEU – Bumped on jumping. WHEY MISCHIEF – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.Hampered leaving the 300 metres. KOHEETO – Raced wide in the early stages. ALITA – Shifted out leaving the 300 metres hampering WHEY MISCHIEF. MY SISTER SAL – Raced wide for the majority.
