Race 1: LOOKSMART ALTERATIONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 940 Metres

MINI BEER – Bumped the enclosure gate on entering the course proper, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shifted out forcing READY BOSS wider.

PUSS BOOTS – Slow to begin.

READY BOSS – Forced wider on jumping and lost ground.

TURN BIRD – Raced greenly in the home straight and laid out under pressure leaving the 200 metres.

JUST JONESY – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 2: RED BERET HOTEL BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 940 Metres

ENDORSE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and shifted out near the 500 metres bumping EVIL EYE MAC. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

EVIL EYE MAC – Turned its head as the start was effected and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Bumped near the 500 metres.

KING JESTER – Began awkwardly.

Race 3: CAIRNS & DISTRICT CHINESE ASSOCIATION INC BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1250 Metres

SMARTY LEE – Over-raced in the early stages.

EAGLE EYE STAR – Over-raced in the early stages.

NEBARAZ – Crowded for room near the 100 metres and shifted wider.

BIG FLASH – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Race 4: FIONA GREEN @ REALTY Maiden Plate 1250 Metres

AGLOT – Began awkwardly.

DESERT CHATTERBOX – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight.

WAKE UP SOO – Raced greenly in the early stages.

MISS BOSSY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

PAPARAZZI ROCKET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: CAIRNS CURRENCY SERVICES OPEN Handicap 1400 Metres

TENNESSEE BOY – Slow into stride.

THE BEAT GOES ON – Lost its off-hind plate leaving the 200 metres.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a heavy (8)

Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1400 Metres

TODWICK – Over-raced in the early stages.

CUNNAMULLA – When questioned into the tactics adopted today on the gelding jockey R. Wiggins advised stewards, he was given no specific instructions other then to be positive out of the gates from its wide barrier. Jockey Wiggins further added he had expected more speed in the race early however found the lead easily. Trainer S. Massingham confirmed the instructions adding the gelding raced wide at its previous start and it was stepping up in distance today and had led at this track previously. Stewards noted the explanations but nonetheless reminded Mr Massingham of his obligation to advise stewards of any possible change in riding pattern. Jockey R. Wiggins pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres which is one more than is permitted and was fined $200.00. Stewards noted this was jockey Wiggins 5th breach of this this rule.

TODWICK – Over-raced in the early stages.

Race 7: CORAL COAST CATERING BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1250 Metres

WINDS OF WAR – Began awkwardly. Crowded on jumping and was bumped. Jockey N. Yadi pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres which is one more than is permitted and was reprimanded. Stewards noted this was jockey Yadi’s first breach of this this rule.

AIR FORCE ACE – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping BOTOX LADY on the hind quarters. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and was checked from heels near the 1000 metres and threw its head in the air. Continued to over-race having to be restrained off heels until near the 600 metres. Steadied off heels near the 100 metres. Trainer S. Potiris was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings’ racing manners.

BOTOX LADY – Bumped on the hind quarters soon after the start and became unbalanced. Eased down leaving the 250 metres when jockey N. Day was of the opinion that the mare was uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MASARED – Shifted in at the start bumping WINDS OF WAR. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride.

SWANKY SUE – Began awkwardly.

WELL WELL WELL – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

PRINCE SHUVEE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.

ADAMINABY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 8: HIRE A HUBBY BAYVIEW RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 940 Metres

JOINT FORCES – Took charge of its rider for a short distance during its preliminary and was examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. Buffeted between runners soon after the start. Restrained off heels leaving the 700 metres when racing ungenerously and the pace slackened.

ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF – Shifted out on jumping placing JOINT FORCES in restricted room.

ACCTORIES – Slow to begin.

ROSE OF ATHENS – Began awkwardly.

LINE OF KINGS – Shifted in at the start bumping IMPARDOO. Lost its near fore plate during running.

IMPARDOO – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

TALK CRAZY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

ANTIQUE LACE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 9: AUSTRALASIAN POINT OF SALE SOLUTIONS Maiden Handicap 940 Metres

LATE NIGHT – Slow to begin and shifted in bumping MAKANUI.

MR BROWN – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages and shifted out abruptly leaving the 600 metres.

SILLMAN – Slow to begin.

THUMANI – Slow to begin. On returning to scale was suffering from a poor post-race recovery and heat stress. After being quickly attended to by the veterinary surgeon it responded to treatment. Trainer A. Malliff was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next start.

SIRENE ROUGE – Shifted out on jumping bumping DOMINANT ROSE.

TYCOON CINDY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

DOMINANT ROSE – Bumped on jumping. Laid in, in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MAKANUI – Slow to begin and shifted out bumping LATE NIGHT.
