Layt (Cat In The Raine) + 1kg Trainers of the following runners which were all returning from extended spells advised no issues. All runners underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Healing Game, Licona, Sancy Rose, Legend Has It, Medal, Pomade, Caressing Rupert, Heroic Kitty, Nuclear Girl, Mumbo Bowler, Reliable Witness, Jazz Worthy Race 1: PARAMOUNT LIQUOR QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres RELIABLE WITNESS – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer R. Kirkwood was advised a warning would be placed on its barrier manners. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn and shifted out bumping JAZZ WORTHY near the 400 metres.Shifted in soon after passing the winning post placing BRINGYATICKET in restricted room. Jockey F. Edwards was advised to show greater care. EXO SPLASH – Slow to begin. KING CANUTE – Over-raced in the early stages and shifted wider off heels leaving the 900 metres. JAZZ WORTHY – Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres. Bumped near the 400 metres. Race 2: CAIRNS FLORAL SUPPLIES Maiden Handicap 1250 metres GULF OF LION – Shifted out at the start bumping CLASSIC CHANCE. Restrained off heels near the 400 metres. CLASSIC CHANCE – Bumped on jumping. HITCHEDINMANHATTAN – Began awkwardly. MUMBO BOWLER – Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres to improve. Bumped near the 400 metres and forced wider. AMBER'S POWER – Laid out rounding the home turn causing NORTHERN GIRL to shift out bumping DISORDERLY which in turn shifted out bumping MUMBO BOWLER which was forced wider.AMBERS POWER continued to lay out in the home straight shifting wider.Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainers T & P Rowe were advised a warning would be placed on AMBER’S POWER racing manners. DISORDERLY – Bumped near the 400 metres. NORTHERN GIRL – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres. Raced wide in the early stages. Race 3: HJC ELECTRICS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1500 metres SWANKY SUE – Slow to begin. PETRILLO (NZ) – Slow to begin. BORLOTTI BEANS – Began awkwardly. POCKET FUGITIVE – Over-raced in the early stages. SOUND OF SLEAT – Over-raced in the early stages. MERRY OLD SOUL (NZ) – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.Race 4: NQ RACING SYNDICATIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 950 metres BAY OF BENGAL – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and was slow to begin. ARISE MY SON – Began awkwardly. GREENHEART (NZ) – Slow to begin. ARMOUR FORCE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and made the made the home turn awkwardly throwing its head in the air. When asked to explain the performance jockey R. Wiggins advised the gelding travelled keenly approaching the home turn however made the turn awkwardly and then failed to respond to his riding. He further explained that in his opinion ARMOUR FORCE would be better suited over a longer distance where the pace may not be as solid early. Trainer S. Massingham was at a loss to explain today’s performance and was disappointed, advising stewards he would monitor the gelding on returning to its stable and advise them should anything come to his attention that may have had a bearing on todays performance. A post- race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Raced wide for the majority of the race. YARRALINDA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested. SHEEZ MARVELLOUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. ALL TO DO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: MEDIAPOWER PLUS PTY LTD QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 950 metres Correct weight was delayed to establish if SUMBANK had been afforded a fair start when rider M. Potgieter was of the opinion it was hindered by a barrier attendant holding its head. After hearing evidence from M. Potgieter (Jockey) L. McCormack (Trainer), Starter P. Kennedy and barrier attendant M. O’Brien, and viewing race day vision it was established the SUMBANK had been afforded every opportunity to jump and as such was declared a runner. NUCLEAR GIRL – Bumped on jumping. SUMBANK – Began awkwardly and bumped soon after the start on two occasions. CARESSING RUPERT – Shifted in soon after the start bumping SUMBANK on two occasions. POMADE – Crowded near the 500 metres and was steadied and shifted inwards. Shifted in brushing HEROIC KITTY near the 100 metres. Rider N. Day was advised to show greater care. KING'S HALO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MINIEST – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainers T & P Rowe were of the opinion the filly may have jarred up and will be given a short freshen up. NEVETON – Shifted in at the start bumping NUCLEAR GIRL. HEROIC KITTY – Shifted slightly near the 500 metres crowding POMADE. Shifted in approaching the 100 metres placing NEVETON in restricted room, and when brushed by POMADE shifted in further causing NEVETON to be restrained. Whilst stewards noted the HEROIC KITTY was tiring and was brushed apprentice I Teh was nonetheless advised to show greater care. Race 6: CAIRNS DELIVERIES Class 6 Handicap 1250 metres FOCUS – Rider became unbalanced on jumping. KING JESTER – Began awkwardly. LICONA – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping RED LIGHT ROXANNE. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600 metres. RED LIGHT ROXANNE – Bumped on jumping. PICTON – Bounded in the air on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 7: SMITHFIELD DENTAL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap1250 metres LEGEND HAS IT – Slow to begin. COURTING SARA – Difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight until leaving the 100 metres. SARANDOS – When asked to explain the performance jockey R. Wiggins advised the gelding failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and his opinion was disappointing. Trainer M. McGuire was of the opinion the step up in distance from 1050 metres at its previous start to the 1250 metres today and together with the fast pace of the race was telling factor. A post- race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
