SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Townsville 21 July 2023 - Race 4: LADBROKE IT! RATINGS BAND 0-55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Lady Damus – Trainer S Massingham subsequently advised stewards that a further veterinary examination and tests after returning to its stable revealed no abnormalities and the filly has since pleased him it’s in progress.   
 
GENERAL
 
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Jaakuna, Delancy, Tycoon Beau, Whey Mischief.        
 
Permitted Overweights:
R1, He’s All Power + 1kg – Tanoshi + .50kg
R3, Healing Game + 1kg
R7, Paparazzi Rocket – Taormina Rhythm – Anselmo + 1kg     
 
Race 1: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 950 metres
 
HE'S ALL POWER – Raced greenly for much of the race and laid out near the 600 metres. Continued to hang out under pressure in the home straight shifting wider, inconveniencing JAAKUNA approaching the 100 metres. Whilst stewards noted the gelding was having its first race start trainers T & P Rowe were advised a warning would be placed on its racing manners. Rider M. Abe was reprimanded and advised a greater effort is required to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.   
 
YELLOWSTONE BETH – Raced greenly rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority.
 
JAAKUNA – Momentarily restrained from the heels of HE’S ALL POWER which hung out  approaching the 100 metres. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TAHKIAN BUBBLES – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
BETTER NOT FUSS – Crowded for room near the 200 metres. Raced wide for the majority.

TANOSHI – Laid in near the 200 metres crowding BETTER NOT FUSS.
 
Race 2: FRED WIELAND RACING Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
SHADOW ECLIPSE – Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.
 
DUYFKEN – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
IMPEACHER – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 3: MARSH ADVANTAGE INSURANCE OPEN Handicap 1500 metres
 
ROCK SPUR – Slow to begin.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin. Momentarily hampered near the 500 metres. Raced wide for the majority.
 
THE TYLER – Slow to begin and after being urged forward commenced to over-race in the early stages. Shifted out near the 150 metres brushing with HEALING GAME.
 
INVESTOR – Hampered near the 500 metres and shifted out hampering TOFF ROCKS, then shortly after shifted in becoming awkward on the heels of HEALING GAME and was restrained. 
 
HEALING GAME – Over-raced in the early stages.Shifted out marginally near the 500 metres hampering INVESTOR which shifted out. Shifted in near the 150 metres brushing with THE TYLER.
 
Race 4: LADBROKES HUB QTIS Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
 
HOT VALOUR – Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Whilst stewards noted it was the geldings first race start trainer F. Wieland was advised a warning would be placed on its competitiveness.
 
SPRING'S GIFT – Slow to begin then momentarily hampered shortly after the start.
 
SERGEANT'S PRIDE – After being slow to begin was then hampered shortly after the start.

LORD POWER – Shifted in soon after the start forcing DELANCY inwards which in turn shifted in inconveniencing MISHANI MERLOT which shifted in momentarily hampering SPRING’S GIFT. Jockey L. Morrison was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear in similar circumstances.
 
MOON MISSILE – Shifted out at the start hampering SEARGEANT’S PRIDE. Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly when racing greenly.
 
MISHANI MERLOT – Inconvenienced shortly after the start and was restrained.  
 
DELANCY – Rider N. Day reported on returning to scale the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 950 metres
 
AVATEA – Slow to begin.
 
STIFLING – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.Raced wide.
 
TYCOON BEAU – Slow to begin. Disappointed for run leaving the 200 metres and was checked after improving onto heels.  
 
POMADE– Raced wide.

WHEY MISCHIEF – Raced wide.
 
STRATEGIST – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained minor injuries to both eyes due to the kickback in running. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance certificate would be required prior to its next start.

Following further showers, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (9) following this race.

Race 6: LADBROKES LIVE BETTING BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
LICONA – Bumped near the 400 metres.

SPIRIT MEISTER – Shifted out near the 400 metres bumping with LICONA.
 
MEMBERS ONLY – Momentarily hampered near the 200 metres.

SILLMAN – Shifted in near the 200 metres momentarily hampering MEMBERS ONLY. Rider N. Day was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Jockey N. Day was reprimanded in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres which is one more time than is permitted. This was N. Day’s third breach.
 
INDICTMENT – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 7: HPS CONTRACTORS Class 1 Handicap 1250 metres
 
KOHEETO – Made contact with the enclosure gate on exiting the mounting yard, was examined on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. Jockey N. Yadi was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out right to the finish line.
 
ANSELMO – Slow to begin.
 
ACCTORIES – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ALLIED COMMAND – Bumped heavily with ADAMINABY on two occasions near the 750 metres.
 
ADAMINABY – Bumped heavily with ALLIED COMMAND on two occasions near the 750 metres.
 
Race 8: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1250 metres
 
EL OF A SAGA – Began awkwardly.
 
CETSHWAYO – Slow into stride. When asked to explain the gelding’s performance today jockey N. Day advised the horse was never comfortable on today’s surface and as such, he did not put CETSHWAYO under pressure over the concluding stages. Trainer S. Massingham was of the same opinion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
