GENERAL
 
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Artic Dasher, Yanit,

Race 1: COREY MACHAN SHEETMETAL MAIDEN PLATE  1400 Metres
 
LORD PROPHET – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Connections advised it would be the intention that the gelding be ridden forward if circumstances permit. Was ridden accordingly. Shifted out soon after the start placing JESKO in restricted room.  
 
LIZA IN LIGHTS – Slow to begin.
 
JESKO – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a short distance soon after the start and shifted out bumping XTRASWEET.
 
ROTHGURL – Began awkwardly.
 
XTRASWEET – Bumped soon after the start. Unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.

ALONTRO – Bumped near the 1000 metres and shifted in placing TYCOON GRACE in restricted room.
 
ARCTIC DASHER – Shifted in near the 1000 metres bumping ALONTRO which in turn shifted in placing TYCOON GRACE in restricted room. Jockey M. Abe was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
TYCOON GRACE – Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly when placed in restricted room and was steadied.
 
Race 2: THRIVING LIVES OPEN HANDICAP  1400 Metres
 
SILENT EXPLORER – Slow to begin.
 
VIENNA RAIN – Slow to begin. Brushed on two occasions approaching the 100 metres by BOLD TYPE which laid in under pressure.
 
BOLD TYPE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight brushing with VIENNA RAIN on two occasions approaching the 100 metres.
 
PRIME RULER – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a discoloured tongue indicating it may have got its tongue over the bit. Trainer F. Wieland advised stewards it is his intention that PRIME RULER be sent for a spell and he would experiment with a gear change going forward.  
 
Race 3: CAIRNS SUNLAND LEISURE PARK BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1250 Metres
 
TANGO AND CASH – Slow to begin. Hampered shortly after the start.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Shifted out at the start bumping LADY RAIN which in turn shifted out inconveniencing BIG FLASH which shifted out hampering TANGO AND CASH. Jockey G. Kliese was issued a reprimand under the provisions of AR 132(5) in that he used his whip a total of 16 times in running. This was Jockey Kliese’s first breach of this particular rule in recent times.  
 
BIG FLASH – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
LADY RAIN – Bumped on jumping.
 
MODERNISM – Finished tailed off. Jockey M. Buttler explained the mare was never comfortable throughout the race and was disappointing. Trainer M. Dale was at loss to explain its performance today and would monitor MODERNISM going forward and advise stewards should anything come to his attention that may have a bearing on today’s performance and further would consider its immediate racing future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SIZZLING SUN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: 1300 RIDESHARE RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP  1500 Metres
 
MIRROR ILLUSION – Began awkwardly.
 
DUYFKEN – Shifted out near the 1000 metres when over-racing and bumped IMPEACHER. Shifted in near the 900 metres when being corrected and crowded ROTH’N’BELL.
 
IMPEACHER – Bumped near the 1000 metres. Steadied when inconvenienced near the 50 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROTH'N'BELL – Steadied when crowded for room near the 900 metres.
 
SIDE HUSTLE – Shifted out under pressure near the 50 metres inconveniencing IMPEACHER. Rider N. Thomas was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
 
HELLO NEWMAN – Compounded over the concluding stages. Jockey R. Wiggins explained the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing and was also of the opinion it may have come to the end of its current preparation. Trainer M. Dale agreed with jockey Wiggin’s assessment and would monitor the gelding going forward giving consideration to the horse being sent for a spell.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
Race 5: ORRCON STEEL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 950 Metres
 
MISSY LYN – Slow to begin.
 
NEON WONDER – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout the race and was restrained leaving the 400 metres when awkwardly placed between runners.
 
BOOM SEE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
JACK BE WICKED – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced greenly for the majority of the race and shifted out leaving the 400 metres placing NEON WONDER in an awkward position to the inside of MISSY LYN.
 
HE CAN JAJA – Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
SHERE KHAN – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
PENNY'S INTENT – Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 6: HURNEY PARTNERS CLASS 6 HANDICAP  950 Metres
 
BAY OF BENGAL – Slow to begin.
 
NEBARAZ – Slow to begin.
 
STARFILLY – Slow to begin.
MACEDON FLYER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP  950 Metres
 
NEUTRALIZE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
COODARADY – Began awkwardly.
 
BELLE ADELE – Stewards delayed correct weight to view the race film and determine if BELLE ADELE had been afforded a fair start. On viewing the film in the company of jockey S. Sheargold it was established that the mare had put its head into the inside adjoining barrier of its own accord almost simultaneously as the start was effected and had lost considerable ground and as result was deemed to have been afforded a fair start. Trainer R. Baker was advised a warning would be placed on its barrier manners.
 
BEAN WARRIOR – Apprentice J. Edwards was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(b) in that she failed to ride her mount out right to the finish line.  
 
Race 8: LADBROKE IT! CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1250 Metres
 
ROSE OF ATHENS – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer S. Cooper to allow jockey Denicious Smith to ride the mare, which was an original emergency half a kilogram over its allotted weight. Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.   
 
IMPARDOO – Fractious in barriers prior to the start.
 
MARANZANO – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.  
 
COGENT (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
PREMIUM STAR – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
 
GUAPO – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STORMY LEGEND – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SHEER ILLUSION – Finished tailed off. A pot-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
