Laid out in the early and middle stages bumping with WELL IN SIGHT leaving the 800 metres and again laid out near the 500 metres placing WELL IN SIGHT in restricted room to the inside of KING JESTER which shifted in marginally. Trainer F. Wieland was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

KING JESTER – Shifted in marginally near the 500 metres.

WELL IN SIGHT – Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of WELL IN SIGHT which finished 2ND against KING JESTER (J. Edwards) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 500 metres. After hearing all of the evidence and viewing of the steward’s patrol footage it was established that WELL IN SIGHT was placed in restricted room to the inside of KING JESTER which shifted in marginally and POMADE which laid out despite the efforts of its rider causing WELL IN SIGHT TO clip that runners heels and blunder and lose ground. As stewards could not attribute the cause to KINGS JESTER, stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
