STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB LADBROKES CANNON PARK – TUESDAY 9 APRIL 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT (6) RAIL – 1.5M 1000M – 930M, TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 6.8 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Gillard Stewards – S. Copelin, (Cadet Steward) A. Holzhauser, (Assistant Steward) Y. Walburgh-Schmidt GENERAL As Ms T. Townsend (a0) was not riding at today’s meeting she was replaced as per steward’s summary. Just Jonesy, Purpose “N’ Vision, Axone, Tanoshi, Redavni, Ma Ma Rose, Ferus, Vancouver Bay, Rock In The Park, Full Recognition and Investor which all had not competed for an extended period underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Race 1: HINTERLAND AVOCADOS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1250 M JUST JONESY – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground. IMPERIUM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ATOMIC THEORY – Laid out for the majority of the race and went to the line without being fully tested. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.JAAKUNA – Rider J. Murphy reported on returning to scale the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages. MOON MISSILE – Lost its off-front plate during the race. Race 2: HJC ELECTRICS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 950 M MISS RAMBLER – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground. Raced fiercely leaving the 700 metres until near the 400 metres. RAFFY'S GIRL – Slow to begin. BEAUTIFUL LIES – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages. SIMPLY TINA – Over-raced when racing keenly in the middle stages. LOOMING LEGEND – Raced greenly in the middle stages. Race 3: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK BM65 HANDICAP – 1500 M NEBARAZ – Slow into stride. FOUR MILE LANE – Slow into stride. AWE – Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 4: LOCAL TRADE SUPPLIES QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 950 M MAROONS – Slow to begin. Shifted out when racing greenly approaching the 800 metres bumping PURPOSE ‘N’ VISION. Rider C. Whiteley reported the gelding race greenly for the majority of the race. FIND MY CALM – Shifted out at the start bumping with ADMIRAL MADAME. ADMIRAL MADAME – Began awkwardly and was bumped on jumping. AXONE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping POWER SHOW. PURPOSE 'N' VISION – Began awkwardly and shifted out crowding POWER SHOW. Bumped approaching the 800 metres. Raced greenly for the majority of the race and shifted wider rounding the home turn. POWER SHOW – Tightened for room and bumped on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a poor post-race recovery. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race or trial start. LITTLE LOVER – Raced greenly in the middle stages. Race 5: BUGEJA EARTHMOVING BM55 HANDICAP – 950 M OCTOBER STORM – Worked strongly during its preliminary, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. TORQUE NOWOR NEVER – Began awkwardly. TANOSHI – Raced wide rounding the home turn. ZI WIN – Laid in leaving the 100 metres before being corrected. Race 6: B & K DENT QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1250 M CROWNING MOMENT – Bounded in the air on jumping and shifted out bumping I SAY BOOM which in turn shifted out bumping BETTA AL. I SAY BOOM – Bumped on jumping.MARTINI MOMENT – Brushed on jumping. BETTA AL – Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced. FLORAL CODE – Shifted out at the start brushing MARTINI MOMENT. REDAVNI – Over-raced early. Commenced to lay in when forced wider leaving the 700 metres and laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on its performance jockey C. Whiteley explained it never travelled comfortably throughout the race and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a poor post-race recovery. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race or trial start. FODOR – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Following this race rider I. Teh (FLORAL CODE) became indisposed and was stood down by the QAS officers. Ms Teh was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride. Race 7: POWERHOUSE PROPERTY BM55 HANDICAP – 1250 M BORLOTTI BEANS – Shifted out at the start bumping with FERUS which in turn shifted out bumping VANCOUVER BAY. FERUS – Bumped on jumping. VANCOUVER BAY – Bumped on jumping. Race 8: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES HANDICAP – 1250 M KING JESTER – As jockey Ms I. Teh was indisposed she was replaced by A. Layt. LE VIZIR – Slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 850 metres. INVESTOR – Slow to begin.HEALING GAME – Began awkwardly. Shifted wider near the 800 metres. BOLD TYPE – Raced fiercely in the early stages. GO GETABOY – Restrained off heels near the 850 metres. Lost its off-hind plate during the race.CALL ME MO – Raced wide in the early stages before assuming the lead near the 800 metres.
