SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Mareeba 26 May 2024 Race 2 Heavy Diesel Mareeba QTIS Class 3 Plate 1010m
Stewards inquired into the improved performance of the gelding Southern Front, the winner of this race. Trainer Maria Potiris explained that she had freshened the gelding following its disappointing performance at its previous start in a stronger event at Townsville on May 17 2024 when eased out of the race in home straight. Ms Potiris added that the addition of winkers and drop-in class to a non-TAB meeting on the tighter Mareeba track was in her opinion beneficial to its performance at this stage of its preparation also noting it had performed well previously over short courses. Stewards noted the explanation.
