QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB LADBROKES CANNON PARK – MONDAY 10th JUNE 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) RAIL + 2M – 1000M – 300M CUTAWAY APPLIES – TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 6.15 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Walburgh-Schmidt GENERAL Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards today inquired into the reason trainer/jockey Ms N. Nelson allowed a person to ride trackwork at the Innisfail Turf Club on Saturday 25 May 2024, when not the holder of the appropriate license to do so. After considering all submissions Ms Nelson pleaded guilty to a charge under; LR.43. Unlicensed person not to be employed Unless with the permission of the Principal Racing Authority a Trainer shall not employ an unlicensed person or allow an unlicensed person to work in or about any training establishment in any role involving the training working or custody or management of any racehorse trained, owned or leased by him. The specifics of the charge being: 25 May 2024, Ms Nelson allowed an unlicensed person, being Mr Rick Nelson, to ride trackwork on a racehorse trained by herself at the Innisfail Turf Club. Ms Nelson was fined the sum of $800. Acting under the provisions of AR 283 (5) $200 was wholly suspended for a period of 1 year in that she does not breach a similar rule in that time. In considering penalty stewards considered her guilty plea and that Ms Nelson had also breached a similar rule 12 February 2024. Mr Nelson was made aware of her right to an appeal against the findings of the Stewards. Cairns 1 June 2024 Race 3: LOCAL TRADE SUPPLIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP – 950 Metres Stewards today inquired into the reason apprentice jockey J. Edwards was dually engaged as the rider of both ARROGANT HEART and HE’S ALL POWER. In considering penalty stewards noted ARROGANT HEART being scratched and after taking all other relevant factors into account Ms Edwards was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR 127(1). Race 1: COREY MACHAN SHEETMETAL QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD AND THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 1250 Metres KING CANUTE – Shifted out at the start bumping SNUGGLE BANG YAHOO. SNUGGLE BANG YAHOO – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping KIA COME. Laid out near the 1000 metres. KAI COME – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping WILD BUDDY. WILD BUDDY – Bumped on jumping. Laid out near the 1000 metres. Bumped and shifted wider near the 400 metres. MISS FARSTAR – Shifted out near the 400 metres bumping WILD BUDDY. THREDBO – Shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages. KEEP ON RUNNING – Raced ungenerously over the concluding stages and improved onto the heels of THREDBO having to be restrained. Connections advised a tongue tie may be added to the filly’s gear prior to its next start. Race 2: TOLLY'S SIGNS MAIDEN PLATE – 950 Metres HARTSHORN – Bumped on jumping. HE CAN JAJA – Commenced to hang in leaving the 300 metres and continued to do so proving difficult to ride and went to the line without being fully tested.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers T & P Rowe were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. MOEGREEN (NZ) – Restrained off heels for some distance leaving the 600 metres and checked approaching the 400 metres. ZAZ IN PARIS – Delayed the start and refused to load being declared a late scratching at 2.56pm. All monies invested on ZAZ IN PARIS were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:56pm. 2 cents in the dollar for the win HARTSHORN 3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner HARTSHORN. 8 cents in the dollar for 2nd place MOEGREEN 14 cents in the dollar for 3rd place MORE THAN YOU Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised he must obtain two consecutive barrier certificates prior to the mare being permitted to race again. TOHUKU – Began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping HARTSHORN. Race 3: HUMAC GROUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1250 Metres Correct weight was delayed allowing stewards to view the start of the race to ascertain that all runners had been afforded a fair start. On viewing the race-day footage stewards were satisfied the start had been effected by the starter and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. DESERT COWBOY – Anticipated the start lunging forward then stepping back being slow to begin before improving forward and raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small minor gum laceration. ALI'S JAB – Anticipated the start lunging forward and began awkwardly. GO GETABOY – Slow to begin. When attempting a narrow run near the 200 metres shifted in brushing BOHO BEAUTY and then shifted out brushing PRIME RULER. INCHING CLOSER – Began awkwardly.BOHO BEAUTY – Began awkwardly.Brushed near the 200 metres. MISSILE THUNDER – Restrained off heels near the 950 metres when over-racing and continued to over-race in the middle stages. Shifted out slightly near the 400 metres hampering BRILLIANT MIND. BRILLIANT MIND – Hampered near the 400 metres. PRIME RULER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.Brushed near the 200 metres. Race 4: PARAMOUNT LIQUOR BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 950 Metres SATURDAY VIBES – Delayed the start when difficult to load and was fractious in the barriers. Trainer S. Massingham was advised a warning would be placed its barrier manners.Raced wide rounding the home turn. SOUTHERN FRONT – Began awkwardly. TYCOON BEAU – Began very awkwardly throw its head in the air and lost ground. WELL IN SIGHT – Began awkwardly. EXSENSIBLE –Raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 5: VELLACORP PAINTING SERVICES MM/ROB KOCH MEM/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1900 Metres SARNIA – Laid in on the turn out of the straight on the first occasion hampering MELANIN which in turn shifted in inconveniencing GAELIC.Shifted wider leaving the 750 metres to improve. GAELIC – Inconveniencedon the turn out of straight on the first occasion. MELANIN (NZ) – Hamperedon the turn out of straight on the first occasion. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. LETS TORQUE A DEEL –Shifted wider leaving the 750 metres to improve. MODERN LEGEND – Wide early stages. MA MA'S ROSE – Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards he was pleased with mare’s previous start over 1800 metres and was of the opinion the gradual step-up in distance was beneficial to its performance today. Race 6: LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1250 M REDAVNI – Slow to begin. STADIUM OF LIGHT (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. COURTING SARA – Shifted out at the start bumping TRODAIRE. TRODAIRE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
