Race 1:NIESAR PAINTING MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1400 Metres  
 
TWENTY THREE WALL – Connections advised instructions would be issued to ride the gelding in a more forward position from its good barrier should circumstances permit. Inconvenienced at the start and raced back in the field. Tightened for room soon after the start.  
 
MOEGREEN (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room soon after the start.
 
TYMON – Shifted in on jumping bumping with BLEDISLOE. Raced wide leaving the 800 metres.
 
BLEDISLOE (NZ) – Bumped on jumping racing in restricted room for a short distance.
 
COOL STORY – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters on jumping and soon after the start and was unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery. Responded well to veterinary care. Trainer G. Kinlyside was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for COOL STORY prior to its next race start or trial.    
 
ALLDABURGERS – Shifted out on jumping hampering runners to its outside. Hung out rounding the 1000 metre turn. Shifted out under riding when inclined to lay out approaching the 100 metres inconveniencing OXFORDSHIRE. Jockey G. Cartwright was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground. 
 
MISS FARSTAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery. Responded well to veterinary care. Trainer G. Kinlyside was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for MISS FARSTAR prior to its next race start or trial.     
 
OXFORDSHIRE – Checked approaching the 100 metres when tending to lay in and inconvenienced by ALLDABURGERS which shifted out.
 
OAKFIELD PANTHER – Held up for a short distance near the 200 metres.
 
TYCOON LAD – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY – Lost its near hind plate during running. 
 
Race 2:LEXUS OF CAIRNS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres  
 
GAMADALE NIP – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
BOOGIE WONDERLAND – Over-raced in early stages.
 
LEAN EAGLE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
MISHANI MENACE – Steadied near the 1000 metres when racing in restricted room.
 
CITY OF BOULDER – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
THEGIRLSGOTTHIS – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
Race 3:PICCONES FAMILY OF COMPANIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres  
 
CALL ME HILTON – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BURNS TO EMBRACE (GB) – Altered course to the inside leaving the 300 metres to obtain clear running.
 
GUAPO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
LADY DAMUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CONVERTOR – Compounded over the concluding stages. Rider S. Cormack advised stewards the felt good in its action however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will contact trainer G. Holt in the following days as to how the gelding has recovered post-race.
 
Race 4: CSF INDUSTRIES CLASS 6 PLATE 1250 – Metres
 
INVESTOR – As jockey C. Rawiller was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by jockey A. Butler. C. Rawiller was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. Raced four wide with no cover.
 
STATS – Slow to begin. Shifted in leaving the 50 metres bumping with SPIRIT MEISTER. Stewards noted rider R. Wiggins  exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
 
SEALION – Raced in restricted room soon after the start and was steadied. 
 
SPIRIT MEISTER – Shifted out leaving the 50 metres bumping with STATS.
 
TYCOON BEAU – Raced three wide with no cover.
 
Race 5: FGF BITUMEN CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 950 Metres
 
The start was delayed when the ambulance vehicle became bogged needing assistance. 
 
POMADE – Shifted out at the start bumping VIBURNUM.
 
YAMABUSHI – Shifted in at the start bumping with DELUXE LEGEND.
 
DELUXE LEGEND – Tightened for room on jumping and then bumped. 
 
ZI WIN – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
NEVETON – Altered course near the 200 metres to obtain clear running.  Bumped approaching the winning post.   
 
BAKERSFIELD – Bumped approaching the winning post.  
 
Race 6:BABINDA ELECTRICS LIGHTNING OPEN HANDICAP – 950 Metres
 
SINGLE MEMO – Was declared a late scratching at 3.39pm after breaking through the front of the barriers, becoming loose and galloping some distance. All monies invested on SINGLE MEMO were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.39pm:
 
36 cents in the dollar for the win MISSILE THUNDER
25 cents in the dollar for the place of winner MISSILE THUNDER
20 cents in the dollar for 2nd place DEMON AWARD
25 cents in the dollar for 3rd place YES DREAM
 
Trainer C. Taylor was advised he must provide a further barrier certificate for SINGLE MEMO prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
ALL TIME LEGEND – Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping.
 
MISSILE THUNDER – Slow to begin.
 
DEMON AWARD – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping ALI’S JAB shortly after the start on three occasions. 
 
DESERT COWBOY – Shifted out at the start bumping ALL TIME LEGEND.
 
ALI'S JAB – Bumped on three occasions soon after the start.
 
YES DREAM – Made the 800 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
DESERT COWBOY – Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards following todays performance that the gelding would now be retired from racing.  
 
Race 7:THE RED BERET HOTEL CAIRNS CUP – 2100 Metres  
 
FIFTH POSITION (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
ARMOUR FORCE – Shifted in at the start crowding CASHIN' CHEX. Shifted out near the 250 metres bumping WARP SPEED.
 
CASHIN' CHEX (NZ) – Crowed on jumping. Leaving the 500 meters shifted in bumping MAGIC CONQUEROR on two occasions. Tightened for room at the 350 meters.
 
MR MAESTRO (NZ) – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. 
 
WARP SPEED – Shifted out approaching the 300 metres placing THIRD REALM in restricted room. Was bumped near the 250 metres by ARMOUR FORCE when incline to lay in. Trainer M. Goodwin advised stewards that he wasn’t entirely disappointed with the horses’ performance today when it was crowded for room in two separate occasions hindering its momentum in the home straight. Stewards will contact trainer M. Goodwin in the following days as to how the gelding has recovered post-race.
 
MAGIC CONQUEROR – Bumped near the 500 metres. Shifted out under riding near the 350 metres placing CASHIN' CHEX in restricted room which shifted out bumping GALIFIANAKIS on the hind quarters. Apprentice jockey J. McMurray was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
 
GALIFIANAKIS – Bumped on the hind quarters near the 350 metres and was unbalanced.
 
THIRD REALM (GB) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Was steadied near the 250 metres when racing in restricted room.
 
MAJOR ARTIE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SAYL (GB) – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS DAINTREE GUINEAS QTIS 4YO HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
 
Stewards considered an objection lodged by R. Wiggins the rider of PARADE GROUND which finished 5TH against BEAU RAIN (L. Morrison) being declared fourth on the grounds of interference near the 300 metres. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by PARADE GROUND exceeded the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:- 1st PIPISTRELLE, 2ND VIENNAWAITSFORYOU, 3rd BOLD FEELING, 4th PARADE GROUND, 5th BEAU RAIN.
 
BEAU RAIN – Laid out leaving the 400 metres and when being corrected shifted in abruptly near the 300 metres bumping SWEET KISS which in turn shifted in inconveniencing PARADE GROUND. As stewards were of the opinion this was not due to rider error no further action was taken.  
 
PARADE GROUND – Was bumped and became unbalanced near the 300 metres.  
 
SWEET KISSES – Bumped near the 300 metres and in turn shifted in bumping PARADE GROUND.  
 
CALIFORNIAN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
DATINKA – Raced keenly approaching the 1000 metres and shifted wider.
 
Race 9: LADBROKES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
 
MIRROR ILLUSION – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start.  Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres. Held up for clear running in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near-hind fetlock. Trainer T. Rowe was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for MIRROR ILLUSION prior to its next race start or trial. 
 
AMMAND – Slow to begin. Lost its near hind plate during in running.
 
CUBAN AFFAIR – Over-raced in the early stages and when being restrained near the 1000 metres, shifted out bumping
SUPER TWENTY THREE which in turn shifted out bumping PESHWA which then became awkward on the heels of
MIRROR ILLUSION.
 
VALENKI – Raced fiercely in the early stages having to be restrained.
 
BATTLE ROYALE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
PESHWA – Inconvenienced near the 1000 meters when bumped by SUPER TWENTY THREE.
 
SUPER TWENTY THREE – Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres and then over-raced for a short distance thereafter.
