The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.

Race 1:LADBROKES GOVERNORS CUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1500 M  
 
Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of LOBURN LASS which finished 2ND against STATS (R. Wiggins) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 200 metres. After hearing all the evidence and viewing the steward’s patrol footage stewards could not attribute the cause to STATS and as such dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Due to communication issues jockey P Romeo was unable to make the allotted weight of 54kgs and was replaced by jockey J. Murphy. Whilst stewards noted the reasoning no further action was taken. Slow to begin.
 
KNIFE'S EDGE – Slow to begin. Tightened for room near the finish line.
 
STATS – Raced ungenerously in the early stages leaving the 1000 metres.  Shifted in abruptly after the winning post making heavy contact with the inside runner. Jockey R Wiggins was advised to take greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SAVVY SOVEREIGN (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages.
 
SO DAPPER- Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 2: RODNEY FITCHETT MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 950 M
 
DON'TLEAVEMENOW – Due to jockey C. Bayliss being unable to make the allotted weight of 55kgs he was replaced by jockey J B Murphy. Jockey C. Bayliss was fined the sum of $100. Began awkwardly.
 
BLUE TOES (NZ) – Slow to begin before quickly improving forward. Shifted out near the 600 metres when racing greenly bumping ITHINKBETTER which in turn shifted out bumping ISLA GIRL. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Trainer D Crouch was advised he mustprovide a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start or trial.   
 
MISHANI BURN – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
ALLEZ PARIS – Began awkwardly
 
WEBS – Shifted out at the start bumping with MISHANI BURN and lost ground.
 
ITHINKBETTA – Bumped near the 600 metres.
 
ISLA GIRL – Bumped near the 600 metres. Raced wide without cover.
 
MISS RAMBLER – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near side front leg. Trainer S. Massingham was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for MISS RAMBLER prior to its next race start or trial.   
 
Race 3:UNDERWOOD PARTY HIRE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1250 M
 
JAAKUNA – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
JOURNO – Bumped shortly after the start. Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres and shifted wider when over-racing.
 
LOOMING ONE – Began awkwardly hampering runners to its outside. Shifted in under pressure near the 100 metres placing LAKE VARNA in restricted room which had to be checked. Continued to shift in under pressure near the 50 metres tightening the running of ALMIGHTY JAB which had to be checked when also inconvenienced by FAST AS STEEL which shifted out under pressure. 
 
FAST AS STEEL – Hampered shortly after the start and shifted out bumping JOURNO. Raced fiercely approaching the 1000 metres inconveniencing JOURNO.
 
LAKE VARNA – Checked near the 100 metres when tightened for room by LOOMING ONE which shifted in under pressure. At a subsequent inquiry jockey L Morrison pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) in that she permitted LOOMING ONE to shift in under riding when not fully clear of LAKE VARNA which had to be checked. Miss Morrisons license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 14/09/2024 up to and including 23/09/2024.
 
ALMIGHTY JAB – Checked near the 50 metres when attempting a narrow run between FAST AS STEEL which laid out and LOOMING ONE which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice T. Leslight (FAST AS STEEL) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
ROCKINFELLER – Race wide for the majority.
 
Race 4: CAIRNS KEY REAL ESTATE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
THEGIRLSGOTTHIS – Shifted out on jumping bumping BATTLE ROYALE.
 
BATTLE ROYALE – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
THE REAL THING – Tightened for room shortly after the start and was restrained.
 
YOU ARE KING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BRADSHAW – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. OPEN HANDICAP 950 M
 
NORTHERN PRIDE – Anticipated the start making contact with the front gates and beginning awkwardly. Commenced to over race for a short distance near the 800 metres. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISSILE THUNDER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 750 metres. Had difficulties obtaining clear running from rounding the home turn till leaving the 200 metres.
 
YES DREAM – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 6:ELAINE PICCONE MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP 950 M
 
MY ARTIE – Began awkwardly and was bumped by BEAN WARRIOR which shifted out which resulted in MY ARTIE being unbalanced and shifting out making heavy contact with SHERE KHAN which was bumped inwards by BAKERSFIELD which shifted in.
 
SHERE KHAN – Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
HARTSHORN – Laid in when placed under pressure near the 200 metres hampering YAMABUSHI before being corrected. Continued to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
YAMABUSHI – Momentarily hampered near the 200 metres.
 
BEAN WARRIOR – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 7: PATRON'S CUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1250 M
 
CROWNING MOMENT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SPIRIT MEISTER – Slow to begin. Jockey N Day pleaded guilty and was suspended for 13 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip more than permitted in the guidelines (13 times prior to the 100 metres and 16 in totality). Stewards ruled that the suspension take effect midnight 21/09/2024 up to and including 04/10/2024.
 
TYCOON BEAU – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the 250 metres and shifting wider.
 
AMNESTY – Over raced in the early stages.
 
SEALION – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
COOLMEANS (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding injured its off front fetlock. Trainer A. Molino was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for COOLMEANS prior to its next race start or trial.   
 
CALL ME MO – Shifted out on jumping bumping GREENHEART on the hind quarters.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Had to be restrained leaving the 300 metres when disappointed for a run between SPIRIT MEISTER which had improved to its outside and SEALION which shifted out marginally.
 
SHAGGY ROGERS – Shifted out soon after the start placing COOLMEANS in restricted room which shift out hampering TYCOON BEAU which lost ground.
 
GREENHEART (NZ) – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping becoming unbalanced and lost ground.
 
Race 8:ELLIS BEACH BAR & GRILL RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1250 M
 
WANDJINA SPIRIT – Suffered a superficial laceration to near side hind on arrival to course and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
LEGAL CHALLENGE – Slow to begin.
 
LORD POWER – Began awkwardly.
 
LEAN EAGLE – Over raced in the early stages.
 
IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Had to be restrained near the 950 metres when racing ungenerously and being crowded for room.
 
FERUS – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
NIC'S DREAM – Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly forcing FERUS out wider which was over-racing.
 
VEE EIGHT POWER – Raced ungenerously nearing the 1000 meters for a short distance. Laid in under pressure near the 200 metres. Jockey C. Whiteley was cautioned in relation to his whip action at this time.
 
ROSE OF ATHENS – When questioned into the seemingly improved performance trainer S Cooper explained that he was not entirely disappointed with the mare’s previous run and the advantage of being able to race in a forward position today proved beneficial to the mares performance as she has raced well when ridden positively previously. He further added that he had not supported the mare in today’s race.
