INNISFAIL TURF CLUB – 14th December 2024
 
Race 5: FNQ MOTOR GROUP INNISFAIL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
FEARGACH – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A. Malliff was at a loss to explain today’s performance and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything further come to his attention after returning to its stable base.
 
Trainer A. Malliff reported to the stewards that the gelding has pleased him since returning to its stable base and he is at a lost to explain the poor performance other than it may not have appreciated the soft conditions on the day.  
 
GENERAL
 
Permitted Over Weights:
R2       Musical Girl – App L. Guernier +1.0kg (To declared riding weight).
R6      Inching Closer – 1kg weight penalty after winning at Innisfail Saturday 14/12/2024.
 
Race 1: WEDRAT CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 2 PLATE – 1500 Metres
 
WONG WAY – Trainer M. Dale was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of rider for the gelding. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing at Innisfail Saturday 14/12/2024 and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.    
 
CANDLELIT – Shifted in at the start bumping with WONG WAY.
 
KING'S HALO – Over-raced in the early stages. 
 
IGNACIO – Over-raced in the early stages.  
 
OLD SALT – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
MERRY OLD SOUL (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: CMT CONSTRUCTIONS FNQ QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP – 950 Metres
 
GEM OF SCOTS – Slow to begin. Raced greenly for the majority of the race.  
 
GYMNOSOMATA – Shifted in at the start bumping with MUSIC GIRL.
 
MUSIC GIRL – Shifted out at the start bumping with GYMNOSOMATA. Hampered leaving the 300 metres when racing greenly. Continued to race greenly and laid in over the concluding stages.  
 
MR OREO – Shifted out hampering MUSIC GIRL leaving the 300 metres which was racing greenly and laid in. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of MUSIC GIRL jockey S. Cormack was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.   
 
Race 3: B&K DENT BM75 HANDICAP – 950 Metres
 
FODOR – After being initially slow to begin was the tightened for room between runners and lost ground.  
 
STARZ BARWON – Shifted in at the start tightening FODOR.
 
RIGEL STAR – Shifted out at the start tightening FODOR causing jockey N. Day to be momentarily unbalanced. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. On returning to scale had a small laceration on its near hind coronet.
 
ZI WIN – Laid out under pressure approaching the winning post brushing with FODOR.
 
Race 4: KHI INSURANCE SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE – 950 Metres
 
KERRY MISS – The start was delayed when KERRY MISS was declared a late scratching at 3.19pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice when fractious in the barriers becoming momentarily cast. All monies invested on KERRY MISS were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.19pm:
0 cents in the dollar for the win CORBUSIER
1 cent in the dollar for the place of winner CORBUSIER
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place SUPERSTITIONS
6 cents in the dollar for 3rd place AIRBORNE HOTDOG
 
Trainer R. Miller was advised he mustobtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. Rider A. Layt declared himself free of injury and was able to fulfil his further engagements.
 
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Slow to begin.
 
ELSPHERE – Slow to begin.
 
OHMIKKIUSOFINE – Hampered near the 500 metres. Hampered near the 100 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUPERSTITIONS – Shifted out when racing greenly near the 500 metres hampering OHMIKKIUSOFINE. Shifted out when racing greenly near the 100 metres hampering TARIFF.
 
TARIFF – Hampered near the 100 metres and shifted out hampering OHMIKKIUSOFINE.
 
Race 5: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
 
CLUCK – Fractious during its preliminary. Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. When questioned regarding the performance apprentice Teh advised it may have resented the tongue tie. Co-Trainer P. Rowe agreed with Ms Teh and that it was its first start for the stable and that gear, Mr Rowe further explained he would experiment with further gear changes. Mr Rowe was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race and racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.      
 
SAN TAN TONI – Delayed the start when difficult to load and fractious in the barriers. Connections were advised a further barrier certificate would be required prior to its next start. Steadied off heels near the 1000 metres and again near the 800 metres.    
 
THE HONEY BADGER – Shifted wider to improve near the 600 metres.
 
THE COPS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOVE 'N' VISION – Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: GREENFIELD ENERGY BM75 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
 
INCHING CLOSER – Incurred a weight penalty of 1kg after winning at Innisfail Saturday 14/12/2024. Trainer M. Dale was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of rider for the gelding. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing Innisfail Saturday 14/12/2024 and was cleared to start.   
 
SPIRIT MEISTER – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
INDICTMENT – When questioned regarding its performance today trainer S. Massingham was unable offer any explanation and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to his attention after returning to its stable base that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. Jockey R. Wiggins advised stewards that in his opinion INDICTMENT never travelled comfortably throughout the race and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had gone down on both hind bumpers and off front bumper.
 
Race 7: POWERHOUSE PROPERTY BM58 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
 
OVER THE FALLS – Bumped on jumping.
 
WANDERLEI – Slow to begin. Difficulties obtaining clear running when shifting ground under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MY ARTIE – Shifted out at the start bumping MASTER ORR.  
 
MASTER ORR – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Laid out for the majority of the race proving difficult to ride. Trainer M. Dale was advised a warning would be placed on its racing manners.
 
DEVIL'S INN – Commenced to over-race for a short distance near the 900 metres when crossed by another runner.
 
I'LLTELLYOUSO – Stepped out near the 800 metres hampering MY ARTIE before being corrected.
 
ELLIE'S DREAM – Momentarily held up for clear running in the home straight.  
 
KOBAYASTAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ISLA GIRL– Raced wide for the majority of the race.
