SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

MAREEBA TURF CLUB – THURSDAY 26 DECEMBER 2024

Race 5: GA SCLIPPA SOLICITOR BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1500m

IGNACIO – Trainer R. Ludwig subsequently advised stewards the gelding was showing signs of soreness in both front knees on returning to its stable base. Mr Ludwig was advised a full veterinary clearance would be required with x-ray results prior to IGNACIO, trialing or racing again.

GENERAL
As jockey N. Day was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced as per steward’s summary.

Permitted overweights:

RACE 1: RED ROOSTER RAINTREES QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 950 METRES

WILD BUDDY – As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Bumped and shifted out at the start bumping THORNESIDE.

SWEET 'N' ELITE – Due to a misunderstanding and request from trainer Ms R. Inglis that the filly does not race in blinkers as advertised for the first time as it had not raced in them previously or in trackwork since being in her care, Stewards acceded to Ms Inglis’ request however reminded her of her obligation to ensure all matters in similar situations be correct. As the filly had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Delayed the start slightly when difficult to load. Laid in early and middle stages. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

FINANCE PROPHET – Slow to begin.

PARVULUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Raced greenly in the home straight.

MR GIGILO – Began awkwardly.

WORTHY PRINCESS – Shifted out at the start bumping OUR IMPACT. After being bumped on the near side hind quarter put in akward strides for a short distance and was steadied. Trainer L. Smerdon was advised a warning would be placed on its barrier manners.

OUR IMPACT – Bumped and shifted out at the start bumping WILD BUDDY.

THORNESIDE – Bumped on jumping.

Race 2: RED ROOSTER MT SHERIDAN BM65 HANDICAP – 950 Metres

SATURDAY VIBES – Delayed the start slightly when difficult to load.

BOOGIE WONDERLAND – Slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages crowding YAMABUSHI.

MOUNT WARNING – Shifted out at the start bumping NEVETON.

NEVETON – Bumped on jumping. Wide rounding the home turn.

YAMABUSHI – Crowded for room over the concluding stages.

SEALION – Wide rounding the home turn.

RACE 3 ELLIS BEACH BAR & GRILL MAIDEN PLATE – 1500 METRES:

KINGS CASTLE (FR) – Slow to begin.

CLUCK – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously when being restrained near the 1200 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

THE GENERAL TALKS – Momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

RACE 4: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1250 METRES

ELSPHERE – Over-raced in the early stages. Bumped on the hindquarter near the 250 metres and became unbalanced and shortly after shifted in, inconveniencing OUR APACHE.

THE HONEY BADGER – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

OUR APACHE – Shifted out near the 250 metres bumping ELSPHERE on the hind quarter which became unbalanced and shortly after shifted in, inconveniencing OUR APACHE.

THE COPS – Shifted out under pressure near the 150 metres before being corrected.

RACE 5: LINDON REED MORTGAGE CHOICE CAIRNS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400 METRES

MISS FARSTAR – Slow to begin.

FIND MY CALM – Slow to begin.

MIRROR ILLUSION – Began awkwardly causing jockey C. Jokic to strike the left barrier gate with her elbow. Ms Jokic declared herself fit to fulfil her remaining rides. Co-Trainer P. Rowe subsequently advised stewards the mare was showing soreness in the off front fetlock after returning back to its stable base and would be sent for an immediate spell. Mr Rowe was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to MIRROR ILLUSION being permitted to trial or race again.

CANDLELIT – Over-raced in the early stages.

SWAHILI MAI – Over-raced in the early stages. Lost both front plates during the race.

RACE 6: ALL CONSTRUCTION APPROVALS OPEN HANDICAP – 1500 METRES

INDICTMENT – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 300 metres.

MYSTERY 'N' MAGIC – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

MASTER ORR – When questioned into the tactics today jockey P. Romeo advised his instructions were not to fight the gelding if it had a tendency to lay out however when he did try to correct it from laying out shortly after the start MASTER ORR took charge of him and he was unable to restrain it in the early and middle stages when it shifted wider on the track leaving the 800 metres and proving difficult to ride. Trainer M. Dale agreed with jockey Romeo’s comments. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards advised Mr Dale, MASTER ORR must trial to the satisfaction stewards prior to being permitted to race again.

RACE 7: RED BERET HOTEL MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER OPEN
HANDICAP – 1250 METRES

BOLD TYPE – Raced keenly in the early stages.

JEMELDI – Over-raced in the early stages.

UNDER THE LIMIT – Raced wide in the early stages.

RACE 8: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE BM55 HANDICAP (2) – 1250 METRES

CALDANTE – As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

FINSCEAL – Slow to begin.

GAMADALE NIP – Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

CONVERTOR – Restrained off heels leaving the 900 metres.

RACE 9: STAR 102.7 BM55 HANDICAP (1) – 1250 METRES

ISLA GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

TARGETED – Slow to begin.

LOOK AT ROSA – Slow into stride. Crowded for room shortly after the start.

ILZOOMYA – Shifted in shortly after the start crowding LOOK AT ROSA.

FLYING ARTIST – Shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres bumping READ 'EM AND WEEP on the hind quarter.

READ 'EM AND WEEP – Bumped on the hind quarter near the 150 metres.

SNUGGLE BANG YAHOO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

THE HOME TEAM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RACE 10: FGF BITUMEN BM65 HANDICAP – 1250 METRES

STICK TO YOUR GUNS – Slow to begin. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 400 metres.

HERNE HILL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Clipped heels and blundered near the 400 metres. Jockey A. Holt (STICK TO YOUR GUNS) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 131(a) in that he rode his mount outwards to obtain clear running near the 400 metres forcing DEVIL’S INN out, into the rightful running of HERNE HILL which clipped that runner’s heels and blundered. A. Holt’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight Monday 6th January 2025 and expire midnight 19 January 2025. Stewards deemed this incident mid-range and A. Holt was advised of his appeal rights.

IMPARDOO – Shifted out on jumping tightening MUTAFIQ. Shifted out near the 300 metres bumping with MUTAFIQ.

MUTAFIQ – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room shortly after. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Bumped near the 300 metres. Stewards will inquire interview jockey R. Wiggins in relation his use of the whip in the home straight.

DELUXE LEGEND – Over-raced in the early stages.

DEVIL'S INN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ZORAYDAH – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
