SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Prior to Race 1 Stewards inspected gelding KIRKHEATON for Trainer Mr B. Shepherd which had bled at its last start. The horse underwent a mandatory 1000m gallop and was passed by Stewards.
Stewards spoke with Jockey W. Doyle and Mr Edward Jonson the Trainer of MANFRED THE MAN in Race 2 at todays’ meeting regarding the late rider notification. Stewards accepted Mr Jonson’s explanation and considered a number of factors which included Mr Jonson’s excellent record in relation to these matters. Stewards decided that no further action was warranted in relation to this matter.
Apprentice Jockey Joshua King presented Stewards at this meeting with correspondence advising that his riding weight had now been amended 56 kilograms.
Race 1: KOKODA MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
Apprentice Jockey J. King was only able to claim 1 kilogram of his allotted 2.0 kilogram allowance on his mount LUCKY PUNT.
MANIC MARITA (Appr. M. McGillivray) jumped out and made contact with GRACE AND WILL (J. Geppert).
LUCKY PUNT Appr. J. King) began awkwardly.
MAIDONRICHES (Appr. Ms. J. Brand) jumped out at the start. The gelding failed to go the early speed which resulted in it losing ground.
SHOW NO MURPHY (D. Rewald) jumped in at the start and marginally tightened GRACE AND WILL for room soon after the start.
MANIC MARITA, MAIDONRICHES and SHOW NO MURPHY travelled wide for the majority of the event.
Race 2: CHANGI BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M.
Apprentice Jockey J. King was unable to claim any of his allotted 2 kilogram allowance on his mount WILLYWYNA.
RATBAG (J.Geppert) jumped in at the start and lost ground.
MANFRED THE MAN (W. Doyle) jumped away awkwardly.
PHANTOMOFTHEOPERA (D.Rewald) travelled wide during the early stages despite the efforts of the rider to improve its position.
PARRAGUNDY (Appr. Ms J. Brand) laid out under pressure over the final stages of the event.
TIARA TIME (Appr. L. Tilley) travelled wide over the final stages of the event.
Approximately 300M past the winning post PARRAGUNDY stumbled and dislodged Apprentice Jockey Ms J. Brand. Stewards spoke to Ms Brand who stated that in her opinion the horse placed its hoof in a hole when attempting to pull her mount up at the 1700M point of the track, approximately three to six horses off the inside running rail.
Stewards conducted an extensive inspection the track with a number of riders immediately after the event and shortly after this inspection spoke to all riders in relation to the matter. After considering the opinions of the riders, and based on their own observations of the track surface in the relevant area, Stewards declared that the track was safe for racing and the meeting proceeded. Stewards nevertheless advised all riders to ride with due care when pulling up for the remaining races. Apprentice Jockey Brand suffered no injuries as a result of being dislodged and rode for the remainder of the program. PARRAGUNDY showed no ill effects after the incident.
Race 3: ANZAC OPEN HANDICAP 1000M
Apprentice Jockey J. King was unable to claim any of his 2 kilogram allowance on his mount FLIGHT COMMAND.
Trainer Mr R. Sullivan presented his horse EDWARDSISSORHANDS to the enclosure with the incorrect saddlecloth. Stewards enquired into the matter and under AR141 Mr Sullivan pleaded guilty to the charge and he was subsequently fined $100.00.
Leaving the mounting yard FLIGHT COMMAND made contact with the enclosure gate. The horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian and was passed fit to start.
ADRIATIC OCEAN (Appr. Ms. G. Steele) began awkwardly.
OLYMPIAS FLAME (Appr. M. McGillivray) jumped in at the start and made contact with EDWARDSISSORHANDS (Ms. C. Rogers).
Race 4: GALLIPOLI BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400M
TISPURA TONITE (Appr. Tilley) stood flat footed and missed the start.
Race 5: RATS OF TOBRUK CLASS B HANDICAP 800M
PEKING STYLE (Ms C. Rogers) made contact with the enclosure gate when leaving the mounting yard and was subsequently dislodged its rider. The gelding then ran off and was eventually caught by barrier staff. The horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian and passed fit to start.
FLYING BLU GIRL (Appr. J. King) began awkwardly and lost ground.
OUR STROMBERG (Appr. Ms. G. Steele) was slow to begin.
WASHER (Ms R. Kerwin) was restless in the barrier stalls. Shortly after the jump the gelding was unable to go the early speed.
